as long as you don't do it past the point where your body doesn't have enough fat to maintain energy levels then there's no danger. people doing low carb diets tend to eat more fatty diets as a result to provide the energy the body needs... that's why people can continue doing things like atkins after they've lost weight. the reason vlcds involve going up plans once your bmi reaches a certain level is that once your fat stores are depleted, if you are eating a calorie and carb controlled diet then you will basically starve... so yes. it is a mild form of starvation. not a healthy thing to do unless you make sure you get all your vitamins and minerals for good health. that's why people who misuse low carb diets and basically live on cheese and high fat products get slated. if you eat lots of veg on a low carb diet you get all the nutrients that cutting out most fruit gets rid of... if any of that makes sense?
