Busybusy's 4 week challenge

Hi tee and sue,

Recipes follows, I never measure or anything and usually cook for the family - so you may end up with a big batch!

Lamb patties,

For the spices I use packets, so if you live near any Indian supermarkets its chapli kebab mix, don't worry if not I'll list them separately.

2lb minced lamb leg
1 onion & 4-5 green chillies minced
To taste or around 1.5 tea spoon each;
Salt, chilli powder, coriander powder, chillie flakes, garam masala.
1/4 bunch coriander
1 egg for binding

Chop the coriander, add all ingredients and mix well. To make the patties, make mince into meatball's, place between two sheets of carrier bag, so the meatball is covered and then press with a dinner plate until flat you'll get nice round patties. Then grill or shallow fry, taking care when turning x.

These sound so gorgeous, can't wait to try them :)

Morning all,

Well.....last night went a bit off the rails and scoffed a bowl full of dates!! Ooops!! I might not even be in ketosis
:-( I guess after fasting my mind was thinking Eat! Eat! don't know when we'll get to again. Goldilukes signature about food zombie springs to mind.

Oh....and there was the loads of seconds of dinner just before bed! So had no breki this morning and I'm keeping my fast on a litre of weak squash.

Never mind!!

Off to do a workout. Which are really paying off, even if the scale gods have abandoned me :-(

Hope your all winning !

lol on the food zombie....that thought never leave me :)

thank you for sharing the recipes too.

how many carbs in dates? I assume they are the same as apricots and sultanas around 20g per 30g? If so you may still be in ketosis :) I'm sure people can stay in keto even if they have eaten around 50-60g carbs.

im so envious I'd your energy for workouts....oh I wish I could get a grip!!, do you know I took my monthly measurements and my stomach hips and arms had gained an inch :( I'm so sad and yet at my lowest weight????? Fed up.com

Hi Lauren, me fedup.com too! But hey ho....all you can do is just suck it up and keep going. Revisit your earlier post, when you went too London for inspiration. Your before and afters are amazing...you've come so far so just keep going x. Strange about the measurements > yet weights < can't see why? Funny really.

I have the complete opposite problem!

I'm keeping my fast on a litre of weak squash.

Is that during the day? I thought nothing could pass your lips during day time Ramadan. Or are there exceptions? How are you faring?? Is the hot weather causing problems. Best wishes to you, I hope you are finding it revealing.

Hi Lynne, no I drink it all at 2.45am for breki before sunrise! Whilst hubby had paratha (fried flat bread)!

I'm finding it ok, I guess it's mind over matter. It's hard but bare able. Keeping busy reading all your diaries :)

Aah, I see. Are you like me and can't eat early in the morning. I feel sure I would rely on an early morning drink instead of brakfast, despite food being possibly a more sensible option. Yes I know Paratha, my husband makes them well :) . In fact he is pretty good at making indian food generally, and I would go as far as to say his food is better than our local Indian restaurant. :p

It's really hard eating in the morning, we literally force our selves as we know it'll be a long day. I feel the thirsty more than hunger. It's impossible to gulp down a lot fluid in evening and eat!

Wow I'm impressed! How lucky are you girl friend ;-) paratha's are lovely with tarka daal. Indian food in restaurants is very rarely the same as home cooked. I have so many friends who have been spoilt by me and refuse to eat at an Indian now!

He makes the BEST onion bhaji's and he makes a pretty good prawn on puri. His fave dises to cook are chicken dopiaza chicken tikka, and lamb pasanda. Once, we were invited to the next village's family day. We decided to not cook Turkish because the Turks are better at it ;), so Dave did chicken tikka and onion bhaji's, it was eyeballed for a bit, then some tried it, it was looked on as a bit of a curiosity (Turks can be conservative eaters). But one chap went nuts over it and was not only wolfing it himself, but feeding his mum with it too, LOL!!

I was first introduced to Indian food in 1971, took to it like a duck to water. Love spicy foods. But when we have a home cooked Indian, it usually takes Dave 2 days, because theres so much to do. Luckily pretty much everything we need is available here. But for all that palaver, we tend to invite friends ;)

Ha ha - about the Turks not knowing what to do with the Indian food. Turkish food is cross between med and Arabic, nice, quite healthy but pretty bland for me. Where did you live when you first tried Indian?

2days!! Men have to be so ott about everything, lol. If you guys ever need authentic stuff give me a shout and I'll send it over. Indian food is meant to be shared anyway ;-) I love that about my culture - anyone's always welcome, it's so informal and we usually make big batches of e everything. I think the way it's eaten I.e. informality and hospitality go hand in hand with the food.

I lived in London and the indian was called the Shahee Mahal it was in Lea Bridge Road.... Its funny because if you ask for spicy food here where we live, they always tell you how hot it is, as if its acid, and when you try it, its not hot at all! But they have the same principle with food, they make tons and share share share.

Dave takes over the kitchen, wrecks it, splats food up the walls and the curtains, modifies my equipment, scratches the non stick in my precious frying pan. We relish the meal then I clear up and weep at the carnage.

Good afternoon and nice to see you again Catkins. I'm back on the Exante wagon once more! Good luck hun xx

Ha ha! your sooo good you let him do that!! Their food is quite mild that's why, however, they do have that orange coloured chilly sauce not sure of name. I think it's made with grated carrot and scotch bonnets and its like eating fire!

Good morning campers!

Well it's the last week of 4 week challenge, time to reflect and revise if needed.....

Ok I did 2weeks 100% and 1week totally not 100%. A little disappointed at the fact that I've STS! Maybe I should be thankful there was no gain.

However, I can say despite the blip when it came to exercise I've been working really hard and there's been a significant change in shape;

I was shocked when talking someone at the gym who mentioned that she was 10stone and size 8, she's so tiny in figure and height! I realised that maybe you weigh more if you go to the gym, but still have a good figure.....maybe we focus too much on the numbers and let my shape be the gage.

I still want to be slimmer for the wedding (24 aug) so my challenge will go on for another 5weeks. Going to keep doing what I'm doing and see where it takes me. It's the only diet I know I enjoy doing and I'm not food obsessed when I'm on it.

Epic rant today......sorry all.

Morning busy, I'd be over the moon to look like your before pic, I'd die of shock to be your second pic :) you are so lucky and t absolutely is the work outs.
i remember going to the gym years ago with my mam who used to have me weightlifting like a bodybuilder, we ate like pigs as normal but I morphed in shape amazingly. I weighed a lot though.

You inspired me to get moving that's for sure.

i love the sounds of yor dishes, I'm huge in to Indian food but find some of them are not exactly done well from takeaway places. I know they cA be done done better because I've tasted them better before and yummm :) I love those coffees they make with butter or cream too, can't remember now but I'd always have them for pudding instead of pudding :)

Hope the fasting is going well and that you are feeling ok?

Morning Busy - as Lauren says, how's Ramadan going? xxx
