Charleybarley tries again - Jan 2013

Hey Hun, nothing wrong with getting a bit angry sometimes. It can be very cathartic; even us very nice happy girls can get a bit angry...ggrrrr. I often wonder if I might have had better control over my eating if I'd been more in touch with my feelings and stopped just trying to keep the world (and myself?) happy!!! But I imagine that, like myself, you prefer an even keel, no need to rock the boat, glass half full and confrontation is not our friend :)
Nothing wrong with that. As long as its not to our disadvantage. Hang in there, enjoy the decorating, stay strong and know that we're thinking about you x ((((cyber strength)))

Ps: glass half full.. As if! Fill it to the bloody top, live a little ;-) he he

Thank you Gin. I am feeling lots better today - we had a really nice weekend, we made a start on the decorating - its so messy and it takes so much longer than you think doesn't it!? I hate DIY! You are dead right, I hate dramas and problems, I am sure most people do, although I know people who live off dramas (said in a camp voice) and the dramas of others - I can't be faffed with all that - I like a nice easy going floaty "not much happens" life, which may sound boring to some. I love a nice even keel. xxx

Loooool :) Charley stinky drawers!

In my last job I had a bottle of agave nectar spill and I couldn't get it out, wonder who has my sticky drawers now!

Sticky Drawers - love it. That must have been hell to try and clear up. Its nice to know I am not alone with my problem drawers!
Bless you Charley ...... You've had a bit of a rough patch hun

you can't be 100% cheerful all the time ..... Pah to that pesky pound
but you'll have that off in a jiffy 'stinky drawers' haha

Thanks Mumma, today I feel pretty darn diggedy good and my drawers now smell ok after a deep clean from the facilities boys at work! The lads passed me by this morning and said "have you sniffed your drawers yet love?" to which I replied that I had and there was a marked improvement, I then invited them to come and take a sniff if they are passing my way later.... they both readily accepted.

Charley I'm generally a really happy person, but beginning of this TOTM I was really quite miserable and irritable, really unlike me, hormones have a lot to answer for!

I usually don't suffer from it (although I am sure Mick and my friends may think otherwise!) I sometimes get a bit irritable, but nothing bad. Last Wednesday Thursday and Friday I felt a really low and lonely emptiness, it was something I hadn't experienced before, I am glad it passed - like a big dark cloud it was.

Thank you ladies for your lovely lovely messages, they mean a hell of a lot to me!.

Morning Charley, your talk on smelly drawers really cracked me up! Glad they're sorted now!

Decorating always seems like a good idea but like you say it takes so long, it's all the prep, our house is done but I think our bathroom needs re painting but I know what Mark will say if I suggest it!!

Glad you're feeling in a better place now, have a good day lovely x

Monday 22nd October

Well, as my previous posts suggest, I had a really nice weekend - food wise I was pretty good, Friday (my treat day) was made of Fajitas and Red Wine - delish. Saturday I was very good indeed, and Sunday I was good too (although we went to the cinema and I had large popcorn :atthemovies: !!!). The only other food I had was a cheese roll (HEA and HEB)

I made a delicious meal last night, it was semi Moroccan Lamb Shanks - delish, the reason for it only being semi Moroccan is because I left out the prunes and apricots having a total hatrid for savoury foods with fruit in (except pineapple on pizza!), that also saved me some syns. I stupidly never took a picture but it was heavenly.

So food today:

B - Wholemeal Muffin (HEB tweak!) and LF spread (2) and Marmite.

L - Chicken Pasta Salad (2) for dressing

D - My 5 syn lasagne:drool: (5) with salad (1) for dressing

image-2889329997.jpg

Snacks - Apple x3, pear, orange, ryvita minis

Syns - 14.5

Water - 2 litres

Exercise -

Hi Helen,

The prep is the pain, but doesn't it also make you see what a dirty alleycat you are (maybe its just me!), when you shift things like the wardrobe (I have been using a canvass one for 2 years since Mick moved in) it was absolutely disgusting! I think of myself as a tidy(ish) person, but I am really only a surface cleaner - totally disgusting! Thank goodness for the invention of sugar soap, there was this black stuff (mold) up one corner of the wall where the wardrobe was - grrrossss!

Lol I love the fact they asked you

If you'd sniffed your drawers yet

Hahahaha..... Blooming classic

I'm with you on the fruit with savoury
I just don't get it ....yuck

Food looking good though Charley ;)

Tuesday 23rd October

Good morning all.
Well, my lasagne last night was the best I have done yet! So so nice and I have another portion left for tonight :wee:.

So foodie today:

B - 2 fried eggs on toast (HEB) (1) for LF spread

L - Chicken Salad and Veggie Sushi (.5)

D - Lasagne (5) and Salad (2) for dressing

Snacks - 2 x apples, 1 banana, yogurt

Syns - 8.5

Water - 2 litres

Exercise - :wave_cry:

Morning Charlie, you have me wanting lasagne now, which recipe did you follow? X

Hello honey

I followed my own recipe:

Pack of EL Mince
Passata / Tinned toms
The usual: Garlic, green and red peppers, onion, mush all chopped up tiny
Herbs and Spices
Then I cook up and then wait til it cools down, then the usual layering technique.

For the cheese sauce I use Bisto Cheese Granules at 2.5 syns per tbsp. I use 8 tbsps for a four portion lasagne (making 5 syns per portion) and then I use 4x HEA allowance (sometimes mixing with 90g lf cheddar and 56g parmesan).

I put half the cheese sauce on top and cook for 30 mins, then take out and put the rest on and also the cheese and put it in for another 15 mins. It is the highest syn meal I cook, but IMO it is worth every syn because I like a creamy/cheesy top on my lasagne. Its heaven.

Every time I see the words EL mince I think dodgy Spanish matador haha

Tee hee - every time I see ELF mayo - I think of a teeny tiny pot of mayo.

Wednesday 24th October

Not much to report today. I am doing pretty good this week - I don't think I have cheated for a good few days, which is pretty amazing for me! I have a bit of pain in my hip/pelvic area though which is a bit concerning. I don't usually suffer from aches and pains, but it keeps clicking and it is causing me to walk slower with a shorter pace, I am usually a bit of a strider. I will keep an eye on that. I am sure it isn't helping that we are sleeping in the living room this week as we are in the midst of decorating the bedroom, Mick gets home at 6pm and does 1 - 1.5 hours, I get home nearer 7pm and do a little bit then start the tea, so it seemed pointless us putting the bedroom back everynight, so Mick is on the sofa bed and I am on the big squishy sofa - I can't complain though, I have the best sleeps on that sofa! Mick is complaining of a sore neck - ha! We are hoping to have it done by the weekend because my brother is coming round next week to hang some wallpaper on one of the walls, hence the rush.

I am away on Saturday overnight. My friends and I are going to a Spa Hotel in Colchester. I am looking forward to it, sort of. Its £125 and you get a mini facial, lunch, dinner and breakfast included. I know it will be naughty and I am going so well at the moment. I will try and make good choices.

So food today:

B - 2 Scrambled Egg in a WM muffin (HEB Tweak) (2) for LF spread

L - Chicken and Halloumi (HEA Tweak) Pasta Salad with sweet chilli dressing (2)

D - Caribbean Chicken Stew (2) with roasted cauliflower - I have never roasted my cauli before - I hope its nice.

Syns - 6

Water - 2 litres

Charley good luck with decorating. Your caribean stew sounds lovely. What spices do you use please. I bought some caribean spice pack and did not like them.

The stew is amazing Rosie. I have put my recipe in the Recipe section - have a little look, if you can't find it I will copy and paste it in my diary. What was in the Caribbean Spice Pack?
