Chelsea's last stone off by Christmas mission!!

A friend has a white Kitchen Aid mixer for sale and I'm really tempted....but does a girl really need 5 food mixers? I don't think so .

Not when she covets a coat seen in the farm supplies store this morning that costs £125. (Joules jacket, green check, velvet collar.) Still, there's a little work bonus on it's way......
£125/5 years = £25 per year = 14.6p per day.....well.......Why do I feel guilty spending money on myself?

Forgot the doughnut maker! It's so far back in the cupboard. One of the children had it as a present from ? and it's been used once - just as well.
I saw a candy floss maker once and as I LOVE the stuff was very tempted, but that really would be silly now wouldn't it?.

So Hi Chels, How are you? xx
I'm fine sweetie thanks. Bit fragile this morning, after last night's wine intake  Felt a good idea at the time to get on the computer and download a load of stuff from itunes. I always do it, then when I am driving about listening to the ipod I'm thinking 'why have I got this rubbish on here?' :D I did download the extended version of Layla, which I had a bop round the sitting room to at am o'clock last night lol. I must have been going for it as my hair was a bit like Don King's this morning hahahaha.
We should have a kitchen appliance sale to raise funds for charity...

xxx
Lol, all that scrap metal would be enough to make a Sunshine coach out of....then we could donate to a charity of our choosing.

Hope you ladies are well today and enjoying your weekends.

xxxx

Laughing at the image of you bopping about with crazy hair to Layla! Bet that did you good hun.

Bess, jacket sounds good... treat yourself to that and not the kitchen aid!

xxx

Definitely with the jacket. Get more use out of it than (another) kitchen aid hee hee x

I agree with Chelsea. Definitely the jacket ! Although maybe don't spend too much on the jacket because you won't fit into it for too long :)

Hi,

I have the RED Kitchen Aid mixer -- it is the middle level one 325 watts (I think).

I have a red and white kitchen. I also have a lot of the red kitchen aid utinsels: peeler, spatualsa, spoons, measuring cups, etc. I nearly bought the red kitchen aid pans at Christmas, but realised that I did not need new pans. And, "they're red" was not a good enough reason to buy them.

I (like Alli -- must be the Swedish blood) am a coffee fiend. (However, I grew up in Seattle the home of Starbucks, so that could be it.) I have the most awesome coffee maker -- it is a Kreuig. I order the individual coffee pods from the U.S.

I have a breadmaker -- I used to use it all the time, but I no longer eat a lot of bread. (However, my father gave it to me, so I hate to part with it.)

I have my old Sunbeam Kitchen Center -- that the Kitchen Aid was to replace -- but I decided to keep it for the food processor and blender attachments (seldom used though).

I have another small electric chopper that I tend to use.

I have a Foreman grill -- I use sometimes, but it is a pain to clean (I want one with removeable plates).

A small handmixer (not used often).

Ice cream maker (used about once a year).

Drink fountain (used for parties).

Large electric griddle (used for scout and church functions.

Hot air popcorn popper -- used by kids.

Crockpot used often -- and there are things called crockpot liners that we lazy Americans use. And the crock is removeable and dishwasher safe.

Toaster -- used daily by kids.

Microwave -- used by all.

Rice cooker -- used often (removeable liner, dishwasher safe) and we use Basmati rice as it is lower GI and tastes great.

Sandwich maker -- used sometimes, but a pain to clean.

I think my waffle iron died and is gone, and was not replaced.

I have my red Hamilton Beach 10 cup coffee maker for when I have company and need a pot of coffee (rather than the individual Kreuig pods).

I have a one of those "commerical" 40 cup coffee makers (with the spigot) for "wive's functions".

I have some other things back in the U.S. I stored, but not much.

I was given a "Fry Daddy" thing that I donated unopened to a tombola -- as I never fry anything.

What I don't have, but want, is a toaster oven. I hate heating a whole oven to just cook a little something. I think a good toaster oven would be very useful.

For an American I think I am very average -- I have friends that have a lot more gadgets than I do. I think it is kind of funny, as most of these people do not seem to cook all that much.

You must have a very large kitchen with lots of cupboards and work surfaces Mel lol.

Hope you are having a fab time in the U.S. When are you flying back? xx

Morning Chels & Mel, good to see you up bright and early! (Although probably actually pretty late, for Mel!)

xxx

Mel, you must have an enormous kitchen! One my best gadgets is a hand held whizzy thing which makes great soup and not too much washing up.

I love Layla too Chels but still a bit stuck on Joe Cocker for a night time bop! xx

Agree with Bess, the little hand blender is the most used thing in our kitchen. No microwave, no dishwasher. I would kind of like one of those things that beats eggs, an electric whisk... but don't NEED one. And a windy-up one would do, like the one we had when I was little!

xxx

No microwave, no dishwasher. My worst nightmare.............................AAAAAAAAAAARGH !

I get told off by friends for not knowing how a dishwasher works... they think I'm just kidding, but seriously, that's one machine that looks like such a lot of faff... happy to stick to a bowl of soapy water!

Morning Ladies --

It is about 8:40 a.m. here in San Antonio.

The kitchen in the house we rent is HUGE, with a lot of counter space. I cannot believe I left my beloved Braun hand blender for making my MAM off the list! I must have been tried from Sea World.

I do not know why I would be tired? My fantastic sister took the three older kids all over the park, on the rides -- roller coasters, etc. -- while my friend and I took her little one on the Sesame Street themed rides, then sat in shade and watched him play on a playground!

Later, while my friend and I sat in the shade and pulled meat off of turkey drumsticks -- it's the Texas everything is bigger, couldn't be itty bitty chicken drumsticks -- for the kids to snack on (and my lunch as I left my bar in the apartment) my sister took ALL four kids on a water ride where they got totally soaked (twice) then had their faces painted. Awesome job on those.

We barely had time to run across the park to catch the last Shamu Killer Whale Show (amazing), before we left. My sister is still asleep... I wonder why? I notice that my friend was up posting on FB late last night... so, I am sure was not too tired either. ;)

Anyway, I hope all is going well with you re: the Slimming World and recovering from you sh!tty day at work. How has the weekend been?

I saw the Jess was babysitting: I always liked the ideal of making unmarrieds babysit, as I think it is good birth control. No matter how wonderful they are -- eventually, you are relieved to hand them back to their parents!

I am off soon to visit Grene, Texas and the Music Hall where the dance scene from "Michael" was held. There is an big open air market there on the third weekend of every month and my sister been wanting to visit this historic old west early settlement town (settled my German immigrants) and peruse the market. My Dd slept over with the friend's daughters (her BFFs) and my friend is going to take all four kids this amazing mall with a river running through it (with fish in the water) this afternoon. That way my DD can go to Hot Topic and get some trendy items with birthday money. Brave woman she is (actually, her DD's are 13 and 10, mine is 12 -- and the 13 year old has always been a mini adult... it is the five year old boy that is hard work! But a little love).

I hope everyone has a lovely Palm Sunday.

Sorry for the hijack Chels -- I suppose I should have p[osted this in my diary. I do hope all is well with you and yours. How is the weather in the UK? I am sure it is lovely... it always is when I am not there. Rats.

No dishwasher now, had 2, all faff, always had lots of stuff waiting to go in, I'm with Katy, a bowl of soapy water, rubber gloves and a running hot tap all the way!

Um........no TV either - for 25 years.

I get told off by friends for not knowing how a dishwasher works... they think I'm just kidding, but seriously, that's one machine that looks like such a lot of faff... happy to stick to a bowl of soapy water!

See above ^ ! :D

Chels, where are you Sweetie? You ok? Just busy? xxx

I'd happily chuck the TV through the window Bess but think it OH would divorce me; and children too. Most of the time, I just zone it out!

Hi Katycakes,

You are looking for a hand crank egg beater? I think I have an extra -- I'll check when I get home.

Mel

Morning everyone,

Nice to see you all on here, whilst I was away :D Me, my sister, her daughter and my two eldest grandchildren went to the park yesterday and had a big SW picnic (can you tell I was providing the food?) It was so lovely to sit there having a good old chin-wag while the children were playing. Watching a few men kick a ball around with their shirts off was pretty pleasant as well hahahaha.

Scales have stayed the same, I am still what I was when I was last doing CD. So still 11lbs to target. I'm not bothered by this as I haven't been very SW for a week, as you have all probably guessed by my not posting my daily food. I just haven't had the money to be buying all the stuff. No worries though, really feel quite calm and in control that I will get back on the straight and narrow ..........or in my case, straight and curvy lol.

Hope you all had a great weekend and that the sun is shining in your part of the world this morning.

xxxx

Morning Chels, so glad to see you back, you went a bit quiet over the weekend... but I thought that might mean you were having fun! When I read your post, I misread it as 'men with their shorts off...' !!! What DOES go on in that park, I was thinking. SW picnic sounds fab... and sts is fine hun, after all you had a carb gain after CD and that has now GONE, yay!!! In my case, I switched over earlier than you and messed around so badly my last WI was 12 10, a gain of 8lbs since stopping CD. I am going to weigh on wednesdays from now on as that's when I finally started properly, last weds, but resigned to slow progress. As long as it is progress, that's fine!

Do you like cous cous? You can buy packets of ready-flavoured stuff which you just pour boiling water onto, leave for 5 mins and fluff with a fork, enough for 2 or 3 meal bases. I think the packet ones are 1 syn as there is a teeny bit of oil in them, but 1 syn divided between 2 or 3 meals is fine I think. Pretty cheap and easy and quick?

Start posting food choices again, it will help... it's really helping me.

Big Monday hug.
