Chunky Dunking, taking the plunge and losing the flab!

Morning Lovies,

Sorry been absent all weekend, I don't do much internetting at weekends, but I've been good, promise - stuck to plan Friday, Saturday and Sunday (but did sneak in half a curry from the takeaway, still under Syns and calorie count).

Marley (dog number 2 and general pain in the backside) has been down all weekend, took him to the vets this morning as he's ghot an eye infection bless him - been putting eye drops in his eyes all weekend so now he wont look me in the eye, I think he's gone with the logic of if he can't see me then I can't see him!

Plan for today:
Breakfast: Had special K
Lunch: Chicken soup
Dinner: Spinach salad

Aw poor doggy!! I'd love to have a dog, but at the moment because of being in work all day we can't really commit to it.
We will see.

Well done on staying on track!!! I was horrendously naughty and not looking forward to my weigh in tomorrow as looking like i will be 1-2lb on.

Back on it this week though.

We've got 2 and work full time - but they go to doggy day care during the day for doggy socialising, running about and some small training classes (doggy number 1 is so well trained and clingy he doesn't really need them, they're both great with commands etc but doggy 2 is a bit wary of strangers and can get barky/growly so we've been trying to sort that - not hat I blame him, they came together from another home but he'd had 6 by the time he was 1, they seem to love it, but definitely don't think it'd be for every dog - we probably wouldn't have gotten a puppy and worked full time as wouldn't seem fair but they're so much better off with us and we love them a ridiculous amount.

Don't stress about your slip, sure you'll be fine

Oddly, I think his eye's actually not that bad, think he's just being stroppy because Mummy and Daddy keep poking him!

Oh bless his heart! What breed is he? This is ozbot he's meant to be a collie x lab but we think more whippet x collie cos he runs like the wind! He's 13 now and had him since a pup.

This was trev our adoptee from dogs trust, he was a beagle, sadly we only had him for 18 months as he got cancer

Oh bless them, both so cute. It's always so heartbreaking when something happens to a pet. I know mine are like my children, I'd be distraught if anything happened to them, I imagine it's the same for you Sweet.

Ours are both Collies, one Scottish and one Welsh - though ironically the Welsh one is from Scotland! Doug's 8 and dopey as anything, loves cuddles and humans more than he likes other dogs (if you stop fussing him more than 5 minutes he'll nudge you till you come back) and Marley's 2, a devious little bu**er, very affectionate if he knows you but he's definitely a little edgy!

Ah, I'm so useless - didn't get chance to post a picture, was shattered, fell asleep on the sofa at about 8! Will do one tonight.

After no 30DS for 4 days, I did it last night and oh my God, I see why she says don't take a long break, felt like I'd never done it before!
Plan for today sucks big time as boy said he was going to sort my lunch for me so I could sleep a bit later but when it was time to leave - he'd forgotten!

Sooo
Breakfast/Lunch: Weetabix (HeB), Milk (HeA) sugar (2)
Dinner: Brown rice, soy sauce, flaked cod fillet and spinach

Apparently I'm useless again - completely forgot about dog pictures, seem to be losing my mind slowly lately, always tired and forgetful!

Plan for today:
Breakfast: Fruit salad
Lunch: Spinach and ham salad
Dinner: Mixed herb breaded (HeB) chicken breast with garlic parsley sauce (using HeA of Philli) and a spinach, pomegranate and apple salad

Hoping to go to the gym either tonight or tomorrow, whichever night I don't do (probably tonight) will be 30DS.

Love that they are rescues though! 6 homes by the time he was 1 is just so sad We were looking at Beagle rescues (before we discovered Ozzy doesn't like to share us lol) and they had one puppy who was 6 months old and had already had 5 homes, broke my heart and i really don't understand people, if you assume he didn't leave mum until 8 weeks that means 5 homes in 3 months!! Who the hell even gave him a chance?? Makes me furious and very very sad. I'm a firm believer in people having to obtain a license for dogs, just because it would implement some form of restriction to the twatbaggins. I don't know anyone who has a dog who would begrudge paying a couple of quid a month for a license xx

Oh it makes my blood boil, I'm a firm believer in not giving up dogs unless it is a drastic, very very last resort, they couldn't have given him more than few weeks to settle in bless his heart. Though what does annoy me (ours weren't rescued from shelters) is that officially Me and Boy are an automatic no to adopt a dog from a shelter because we both work - despite the fact both of ours go to doggy day care, are well fed impeccably well trained, cleaned, vetted etc - the moment you say you work full time they shut you out - especially at the RSPCA, they put certain dogs down - we're not even allowed them (apparently it's preferable to kill a dog than to give it to a hard working couple!), no wonder people buy puppies and leave shelter dogs.
Oh definitely agree about licenses, dog ownership is worth the extra money!

I know a few people who have had no luck at shelters because they work full time, one had to buy a puppy, and another went and found a local rescue shelter on facebook, and explained the situation to them, they did a home check and it was fine. I think the big ones it's an automatic no. I'm glad they have strict rehoming policies, but you think they could use their brains and do it on a case by case basis not a blanket no!

I wish we had doggy day care here, as if we have to go out for the day (longer than 5 hours) then we have to send him to the sitters which is £22 a day plus £30 collection, which i have no problem paying when we are going on holiday as he loves the family he goes to, but sometimes you just want a day out!
Like I'm going to visit family next month for the day but i had to get them for 2 days so £70 later all to visit family for a day xx

Part of me understands why it's a no, I'd hate the thought of a dog going to a home where it wasn't loved or was on it's own, but especially in our case, day care is literally a 2 minute drive from our house, run by a nationally renowned dog trainer and my OH goes and walks them for half an hour in his lunch break - they definitely wouldn't be at risk!

Doggy day care cots us a fortune, which is the only problem, we have to break it up sometimes by doing an afternoon or a morning rather than a whole day, but it would be back breaking if we earnt less and Boy didn't get to do overtime, it's about £380 for both of them for 28 ( we don't send them weekend obvs. so it does stretch it a bit) days solid, but if worse came to worse we'd just stop putting money into savings each month or take some out of it. I keep saying to Boy that he needs to hurry up and get more money so I can stay with them during the day!

It's more expensive than childcare and easier! They know how to empty our wallets, they not silly lol

When we got Trev, we couldn't at first as he came with his friend, a lovely doberman, but Ozzy didn't like her at all. And then we got a call from Dogs trust and said that he was up for rehoming alone as his friend had died because before they were rescued she was kicked in the stomach so hard and she died a couple of days later :cry:and Trev was covered in these bits of dry skin on all his joints with no fur and our vet said it was due to having laid on concrete in all weathers, and he had to have some teeth out where he had been eating stones as he was so hungry, so within a week of having him he'd had 2 ops and only had about 10 teeth left What the F**K is wrong with people GRRRR!

On the upside, he totally made himself at home, the day we brought him home, he come bounding in, jumped right on the sofa and that's where he stayed for the next 18 months, unless Kev was home and then he would lay on his chest like a cat having snuggles lol xx

Oh those poor poppets, I don't understand how anybody could do that to a living thing - if you don't want a dog, don't have one, what is the point in getting one ignoring/abusing it - Is it wrong to want to do the same things these people do to their dogs to them? You've kicked your dog? let's just kick you in the head then!
It's so hard for you to have lost him, but it must be so comforting knowing that you made his last 18 months the best he'd had in his little life, he would have loved you so so much for that. I'd have them all if I could, if I ever won the lottery that would be my first thought, give me allll the rescue dogs I can handle. An old colleague of mine who left last year moved to Devon with her rich pilot partner, and when he retires her plan is to start her own rescue, such a lovely thing to do.

I would love a rescue. Would happily have loads of land and a little log cabin to live in

Can your job be part time? Like if it costs £400 for doggie daycare and you would lose £400 going part time then would balance out?

Unfortunately can't go part time, would love to, but I'd lose more than it would be worth, annoyingly (I work for Satan) some of my job could be done from home, but the MD would never authorize it, could at least have done Fridays off then and would have saved us £50 odd. On the bright side, Boy has quite a good job prospects wise, so he can move up and up and up, just gotta stick it out long enough for it to happen - he works as an Import, Export Specialist in Aviation so could go up to import manager then to technical manager and eventually higher so one day I'll get to stay home playing with dogs all day!
