Daily chat...

Believe me, Melissa, I wouldn't go tattie picking now (unless a friend needed help or something). But definitely good 25 years ago!

Take things easy (hope you're not too sore) and well done with the diet success so far.

Having lived in capital cities since I was 18, I'm new to the whole country thing and so picking my veggies (and other people's fruit) is a real joy to me! Even though my carrots are usually misshapen (and ALWAYS covered in mud, unlike the supermarket ones!), they have TASTE... Etc etc.

Think Felicity Kendall in The Good Life, for those of you old enough to remember it, and that's me at weekends!

(OK who I am kidding - I like to pick but I hate getting dirty hands so I'm a bit more like Margot to be honest!!!)

I love not having a garden I'm responsible for anymore, we have a communal roof garden but its kept by the management company.

When putting in the numbers for true weight how did you decide what to enter for your stable weight?
I'm sure I've been going up or down since puberty, but only weigh myself when making an effort downwards....

The only time my weight has been stable (since I've owned scales and before then it was OK going by clothes) was after I'd finished breastfeeding my eldest up until I had the next baby, so I used that weight even though it's been quite a long time since then!

I have the same problem with the true weight calculator. I've never ever been stable so have tried it with various numbers (and email addresses)... I'm under my true weight now for some tried, and lowest I've managed to have myself given last week is 69K.

Well I just put in what I wanted to be but added a bit on because I doubt I will ever get to what I should be perfectly. But I have been 'stable' at 200lbs for 5 yrs and that certainly aint my true weight

but if you put that as the weight at which you can stabilise without problem, it's one of the many factors the calculator ought to take into account (might be interesting to try it with "another" email address).

The "trouble" for those of us who have weighed quite a bit in the past for a lengthy period is that we'll possibly get down to a low weight thanks to this diet then unduly struggle to stay down if it's not a weight which should be "ours". The doctor talks about this a lot.

I stuck to my guns several times, intent on getting to MY previous goal weight (not his... mine is a fictional number taken out of a Christmas cracker, which I fancied... and did reach and see the first time I did this diet - for one morning!)...

But this time I'm aiming more realistically, although still below what he'd suggest.

I'd advise in any event setting small goals, as you are, and TREATING YOURSELF (in a non food way) when you reach each one...

Ok so I have done the true weight again and he has given me 11 stone 1 so that gives me 2 stone 9 to loose. Which is what I will aim for except I am going to aim ultimately for 10 stone 13, so that I can say I weigh 10 stone something lol.

I am doing the treat yourself every goal reached, but doing it every 10lbs, as the weight goes down I will be getting new jeans, skirts etc. But first thing is to buy my winter boots, 4 lbs to go

I suppose stable weight requires a stable eating pattern  for a period of time.

Ahh well I wont fuss, my true weight was 152, I'd like to be more like 147 but right now anything under 200 would be great.

Not sure about rewarding myself for mini goals.

Oooo new boots Bubblemum, do you have your eye on a particular pair?

lol Cathy ive got my eye on a pair of winter boots too mmm wonder if i can get the oh to get them for me

No not yet am looking though, I need warm comfy brown boots, I had the perfect pair last year, but hurt my foot and they got ruined(I think I broke my foot) but I was walking strange and my boot that i wore on my hurt foot got ruined

Just been told that the wedding tomorrow there is a 3 course lunch !!!!
im hoping the set menu is not too set im sure they will be sick of me asking not for this and that , have warned the other half that he will have all the carbs put on his plate , which hes fine about lol....i think the mains a roast and im praying they dont just send it out with gravy on luckily my dd doesnt like gravy so I may have to have a word ....and i will definately not have pudding , as im not a fan and if the starter is nothing suitable I wont have that either ...so im sure I will be ok .........the evening buffet will be fine I willl post sunday so I can keep track of what I had

right off to sort out the girls outfits

Oh no how annoying re the meal, could you eat something before you go, incase they dont have anything not carby.
I've just realised its my dads birthday a week today and my mum phoned me last week about going for a meal or something to celebrate, which is fine if it were next week but I have a feeling it could be before Friday because they have a wedding to go to the day after, how annoying, plus the week after that is the class reunion, oh why oh why when I start a diet is there nothing but food invitations, why does no body invite me out when I am not dieting, its always the same gggrrr

Last day here before I sign off for a while. We're going camping near husband's family (up north a little) then my Auntie will be here, then my brother and family, then friends... I'll be back on here (hopefully no heavier - will do my best) in about a fortnight.

have a nice time Laura ....stick to the plan you know you can

Cathy I know I knew August would be bad should of waited till september really but im going to try my best with it i think foodwise I WILL BE FINE !!!!!! just the odd drink not talking loads may just add a few pounds lol

Good luck with it... I know that wedding meals sometimes happen at unusual times, so if there's a risk you'll be starving hungry, think of having something with you to eat BEFORE the meal. This might seem strange advice, given that you might then go on to eat things not strictly Dukan, but by not being ravenous, you might make better choices so worth a try!

Glad your hubby is on board, and am sure he'll be happy to help out... As for the pud, you'll not be short of volunteers to take that off your hands I'm sure... starters are a little more awkward to avoid but it's summer, so hopefully something salady will be offered!

Take care!

Oh no Robin! OK camping, fine... but visitors must let you check in once a day minimum so that we can hear all your news!!

<otherwise - bonnes vacances!!>

ok chat time... nearly lunchtime, so hanging out waiting for it to be the right time for me to eat... I don't like eating before 1pm if I can help it, else dinner seems soooo far away!

The plan is to leave an hour early tonight, and my two bosses here have said "fine", so I'll be loving and leaving you at 3pm your time, only to return on Monday!

I've beetroot, French green beans, spring onions, lettuce to pick to accompany meals this weekend... I had planned a BBQ but given the weather forecast, I'll George Foreman a bit of meat but not go the whole hog as we always do with a BBQ! (I was reading yesterday on the DM website that an average BBQ can come to 3,000 calories!! haaaa!)
Beware the barbecue... it's a 3,000-calorie binge | Mail Online

Remember our discussion the other day about daylight hours (and me thinking that in the Highlands it must be pitch black most of the day... sorry Cathy!), well this article caught my eye too:
David Cameron may move clocks forward permanently if he can convince Scots | Mail Online

How would you all feel about permanent clock change? It's true that my visitors to France always comment on how nice it is to have such LONG summer evenings... (and I would be glad not to have to constantly talk in "my time", "your time"), but how would it affect your daily lives?
