Daisybell's collection of top tips to success.

Bit naughty today as I didn't do food planning. Just shows how easy it is to get out of the habit. I totally forgot.

In spite of my lack of planning I haven't done badly

B'fast : fruit salad and natural yogurt

Lunch: one egg omelette and salad

Snack: two crispbreads, Philly and jam

Dinner: vegetable ragout with polenta, small slice lemon cake

Snack to come: iced coffee

I'm OK now but fell off the wagon a while back and just couldn't get back on. So still pretty much the same weight as I was last time we spoke. :D

Why do you think you fell off the wagon? What will it take to get you back on?

Well yesterday was momentous. I reached three stone weight loss which I celebrated with a small glass of bubbly! I only have 2 1/2 lbs to lose until I get below 12 stone which is the next big milestone. I am going to give it a go this week but I remain realistic that this will be a miracle if I achieve it. I have lost consistently since mid January but only 1lb at a time.

Still have friends staying which is proving not too challenging as Clair is also on a diet (WW) We are eating healthily, not boozing and walking miles. In combination I should be able to maintain my losses.

So today's menu

Bfast : Fruit salad, fat free Greek yogurt.

Lunch: green salad with grilled chicken

Snack: ryvita, Philly and jam

Dinner: going out so healthy choices needed. Will probably choose tafelspitz and veg ( boiled beef with horseradish and applesauce!) no Appel strudel for me though.

I've noticed that I am not snacking as much as when on my own. Maybe this will help me reach my target this week.

Well done! What an achievement!! :) You must be ecstatic!!! :)
I need 1lb to lose 3 stone, making me 12.2, I'm so close to those 11's but feels like I'm taking forever to get there!! I have a kitchen full of superfree foods......I can do it!!!
Have a good day , hope it's nice and sunny where you are

Mid week sneaky peak on the scales showed a 2lb gain!!! Someone said it could be the heat, I'm not so sure, those muffins were massssive!!

I also seem to be on a sabotage mission. Have raided the freezer for trifle sponge and the cupboard for chocolate. F it's not there I don't bother but a friend bought it for hubby who doesn't do high cocoa content. Muggins here falls for it every time! The rest of the time I have been good, loads of mushrooms and green beans as both are in season and plentiful here in Austria. Not sure if I should eat so much fruit - cherries, apricots and melon by the plateful.

Today has been so warm I haven't even ventured out yet. Usually go for a long walk in the evening.

Let's make tomorrow super good. I will have a poached egg, grilled mushrooms and tomatoes for breakfast, salad for lunch and turkey stir fry for dinner. Snacks melon, cherries and two ryvita. One treat of chocolate options. 8 glasses of water and 3 mint teas.

What are you going to do? You are so close to the three stone.

I will be super good tomorrow!! I will, I will, I will!! No muffins left now thank god! I don't think I have anything planned for tomorrow so might do some batch cooking of veggie sauces for pasta if it's not too hot. Might have egg and beans for brekkie, pasta and homemade veggie sauce for lunch, ryvita and cheese for tea.....something like that. Think I'd best stay clear of too many syns, I have no idea how many I've used on muffins over the few days but it'll be a lot!!

Did you do your veggie sauces? I get through what seems to be tons of veg every week as we still have fruit and veg markets in every district so seasonal produce is cheap and plentiful. This week my best buys were French beans ( green and white ones) tomatoes and courgettes, cherries, melon and apricots. I have no excuse not to be eating healthily.

I don't use many syns as a rule but do eat masses of fruit. I suppose that is why my weight losses are small but steady.

Just looked back to my diary a day ago and have realized that whilst I am good at planning I am not so good at following through. If I ate what was on the menu I would be fine but I get sidetracked so easily and that is when the replacement meals sabotage my losses. Yesterday I got up too late for a cooked breakfast, too late for any breakfast in fact so I was ravenous by lunchtime.

What to do about it? I will continue to plan but will review this every day to compare intent with actions. I have also realized by not building in treats I graze when tired or bored.

So today's plan:

B'fast: grilled toms and mushrooms with fried egg (no fat on the griddle)

Lunch : salad ( lettuce, cucumber, grated carrot, grated courgette, tomato, red pepper, white cabbage and spring onions) cheese herb balls ( quark mixed with fresh herbs, lime juice and paprika) and mango salsa.

Dinner: steamed veg, noodles and chicken

Snacks: ryvita, Philly and jam, ( hexA,B and 2 syns) fruit salad, melon slice, mixed berry yogurt icecream, 2 apricots, 1 nectarine and a handful of cherries.

Will drink 6 glasses of water (1 down, 5. To go)

Did I 'eck!!! Lol. I have to say I've fallen off the wagon over the last few days, it's all costco's fault and their yummy chocolate muffins!! We got 12 of them as a free gift for joining, think I ate about 3 and a half of them over a couple of days! Then I felt brave and looked up the syns......31 each.....eeek!! So over 100 syns on muffins plus my usual 10 or so a day. Then last night I think I just had one last binge on crisps and all bran, but back on it today. Just eaten a huge bowl of strawberries, banana, melon and grapes. Off on a nice long dog walk in the sunshine this morning. OH is off work today so hopefully that will encourage me back into cooking some proper meals.

Hope you have a good day, you're food sounds lovely!! :)

I didn't know that there were foods with that many syns! I would be boycotting Costco for what they have done. The fruit salad sounds good and the long walk will have burnt off a couple of those syns.

What are your plans for tomorrow?

Food plans?? Not too sure to be honest. I'm such a bad planner, I never stick to it! Lol. Another long dog walk planned for first thing, then think I'm going shopping with mum to get my birthday pressie for Sunday :)

What do you have planned?? Anything exciting??

My update from yesterday. I was making a real push to up my liquid intake. Had 6 glasses of water (250ml) 3 cups herbal tea and a glass of diet coke. Not too bad for me.

Off to a slow start today though as I foolishly went off to the flea market first thing without having a drink or taking any water with me. Came home dehydrated and wobbly. When will I learn?

Food wise I managed to stick to the plan yesterday, including snacks. Only one slip. - a small handful of salted peanuts. The change one thing challenge from my healthy eating group is making me think. (as usual I have several things I am trying to change - liquids, eating what I plan, no getting weighed between weigh ins)

Today

B'fast - fruit salad and Greek yogurt
Lunch: mushroom risotto and green salad
Dinner: couscous salad, mixed salad, grilled chicken
Snacks: melon, ryvita and quark topped off with cherry jam, banana

Drinks planned:

6 glasses of water, 2 glasses soda zitron and 4 cups herb tea

Today is my kettlebell day so I will probably drink 3 glasses of water doing that. Temp is 30C so very hot.
This evening I am going to a party - have volunteered to make some food so at least there will be things I can eat.

What to wear that is the problem? So many things to choose from I can't make up my mind. In the past I have had one going out outfit.

Privately I'm gutted to have put on half a pound! I know it's not much but I have tried so hard the past two days. Now I write it down, it is hardly surprising, is it? My wake up call came too late for this weeks weigh in and I soo wanted to get below 12 stone by the end of the month. Only one person to blame for that not happening and we all know who it is. Every time I get near a target weight I stall. Why?? Do I have a self destruct button?

I will not let this derail me. Last night I made couscous and an English trifle to take to the party. Ate plenty of one and ignored the other. Yes I made the right choice! Also stuck to water which helped my fluid intake challenge. I have to remind myself that this is a long term change in the way I eat and live. I have done it for over 6 months so it should get easier.

Did my kettlebells exercise session yesterday when I could so easily have used the heat as an excuse not to ( very tempted) but I did 20 mins with the 8kg bell. It is getting very slightly easier and I can flick the 4kg round on my little finger now.

Yesterday - 6 glasses water and 3 cups of herbal tea.

Today

B'fast: fruit salad and yogurt
Lunch: Toad in the hole, new potatoes, green beans, carrots, courgette and cabbage. (cooking this for a friend who is mad about all foods English and I will be trying to make a fatless Yorkshire Pudding) I intend to skip the English Trifle and might do a look alike yogurt with raspberries.
Dinner: Grilled turkey with green salad
Snacks: iced coffee, fruit, ryvita and quark

Already had two glasses water and two cups of tea - not even 11 yet!

Failed at one of my challenges this morning when I got on the scales. I was so disappointed yesterday that I just had to see if it was a blip. It appears it was as I am now 12 1 1/2lbs so I might still get under 12 for August. Why does it even matter? I know that it will go eventually so don't need to put myself under pressure. I will not get weighed until next official weigh in.

Really feeling hungry today and could easily have chomped my way through a Milka chocolate bar if one had been to hand. Luckily it wasn't so I made do with 6 dried apricots instead. What makes the difference? Same breakfast as yesterday but my stomach has been groaning since 10am.

Today

B'fast : fruit salad and yogurt
Lunch: vegetable soup with beans and pasta. An adaptation of HFW vegetarian Ribollita. Filling and good for you - the perfect food.
Dinner: vegetable frittata with grilled turkey. Strawberry icecream
Snacks : apricots, ryvita and quark with jam, options hot chocolate

4 drinks so far today so should get at least 8 inside me.

Back on track..

No scales.

Plenty of fluids although could do more if I tried

Stuck to meal plan including snacks. Having soup at lunchtime seemed to do the trick and I wasn't scouting round the kitchen like someone who had been "nil by mouth" for weeks!

Did succumb to a couple of squares of chilli chocolate but it was 75% cocoa and within my syns.

Today:

B'fast: fruit and yogurt
Lunch: Ribollita soup.
Dinner: vegetable stir fry with tofu, yogurt jelly.
Snacks: ryvita, quark and jam, iced coffee, 6 dried apricots, carrot sticks, yogurt and mango chutney dip, grapes.

Must change my exercise routine to get the kettlebell session in before it gets too hot. Missed yesterday as I couldn't face the heat. Did go for a couple of walks but that doesn't make up for it. Have found the "lost" pedometer so that is going on my belt again today. Will use my steps for the day as the benchmark to improve. Was tempted with a Fit Bit but realized it was just a fancy pedometer and probably not worth £80.

So still need to come up with a suitable reward for my three stone. Maybe a small piece of jewellery? Quite like the idea of a charm bracelet and I can then add a charm for every half stone until target. What rewards have you planned for yourself. No chocolate brownies please!!

Off to join my trusty friend, the 8kg bell, in a war of attrition against the belly fat.
