Dinkie Dawnies Dubious Diary of Downsizing, Deflation, and Debauchery

Morning All! And welcome Mills 1961!!!

And a belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all xxxxx

Apologies for my absence...I've been ill YET AGAIN :( Really getting fed up with this. This time it was a strep throat but the worst area to be affected was the dangly bit in my mouth, the uvula. I've never seen ulcers like it! I managed to get through Christmas Day but went downhill from then. So I'm still on penicillin which thankfully is doing the trick and I'm feeling much better today. New Year seemed to pass me by tbh as I've spent a few days in bed, but I reckon I'll be back to normal by next week. I have to go back for some blood tests just to make sure there isn't an underlying problem as this is my third bout of illness in three months!

Anyway, I did get to wi last week and gained a whopping 9lbs which I thought was pretty impressive, even for me! But as I've hardly eaten since then I'm expecting a loss tonight! Fingers crossed!

Right, better get up now, tablets to take and things to to. I'm hoping to catch up on diaries later so may bump into you this afternoon xxxxx

No probs Lynne - hop on over. It's a reet sorry tale!

Wow Bev I'm so sorry to hear about hubby's problems and all your worries! What a state of affairs with the hospital!!! I'm amazed that they only concern themselves with medical matters and nothing else! :(

Well my day went from ok to worse after I posted this morning. I opened a letter from the building society which asked me to contact them as there was some unusual activity on my account. So I phoned and it appears I'm a victim of identity theft...to the tune of £900!!! In fact it would be £1300 if the BS hadn't picked up on it so quickly! So my card has to be destroyed and replaced, and obviously a block put on my account. Nationwide will be monitoring it to see if further attempts are made to buy goods with it. They are also contacting all the companies involved, most of which are foreign, to see if there are any contact details for the toe rags that have done this. They've bought a number of goods online but I don't know what they are. Nationwide were absolutely brilliant in explaining what will happen now, and have said they will repay all the missing money, but I still feel sick when I think about it.

Ended the day on a high note though! I lost 7lbs tonight so that's put a nice big dent in the 9lbs I gained last week lol!!!

Well done on the loss Dawnie. Good on yer.

My mum also banks with Nationwide and there was a spurious transaction on her account about 4 weeks ago. £450 to Asda via a web order. Now as my mum does not have a computer and what she would want with £450 worth of groceries I don't know. The amount has been credited back but I'm still waiting for N/W to get back to me about what Asda have said.

Apparently this is the norm all over Europe - and in a lot of US hospitals too.
You'd think they'd have some empathy with patients families. Surely they realise that we are very stressed and do not need screaming at.

Sorry to hear you've been poorly again too chica. Good riddance to 2012 I say, lets hope 2013 is better

Thanks Bev, lets hope so eh?

And Lynne, I forgot to say thank you for the hugs xxx

Evening ladies!

Thank you all for your messages xxx

Feeling so much better now! And well and truly on that SW wagon! Woo woo!!! :)

Had a very productive morning. I posted some parcels off at the post office (latest SW mag on its way to u Mumsie x) and then went across town to my favourite florist. My boss's mum died on Xmas day so I organised a collection for her and wanted to get a really nice flower arrangement. The florist did a beautiful job with mainly white flowers with a contrast of lilac ones mixed in. So I took them up to work straight away and Sue was totally overwhelmed bless her. She cried, I cried...she was just so thankful to know that everyone was thinking about her.

This afternoon we took the Xmas decorations down so the house is back to its boring normal self lol! I can't believe how bare it looks!

Haven't heard any more from the bank so I suppose no news is good news. I can't actually access my account online until I get my new card but tbh I'm not in a rush. I don't particularly want to see a page of transactions I didn't make! :(

I've had a good day food wise which has put me in a good mood. As I haven't eaten properly for a week I'm a bit worried I may put some weight on now that I'm back to 3 meals a day. So I think I'm going to have to be extra good this week!

great to here your feeling more positive and back on track :) xx

Thank you x I just need to keep it going for a few months so I can shift this 2.5st I've gained!!!

Sitting in the conservatory now, watching the electrician put some lights up outside. His name is Russell and he's lovely, but he only looks about 16! Or am I just getting old? :(

Ha ha. Think 16 is probably a little too young! Lol

Well done for getting back on plan and eating three meals. Glad to hear you are feeling much better too.

Anything nice planned for today?
X

No plans for today Penny, other than clearing up when Russell has gone. He's putting a light on the back of the house which will light up the garden and make it much easier for us to see Suki when she's out there at night! And he's also putting another light on the side of the house as its really dark there.

It's quite a nice day here so if its still dry when Russell goes, I'll probably go for a nice walk with Suki.

Can't decide what to eat today. I think it might be a red day...hmmmm....
