DOING SW FROM HOME???

Morning ladies, I need another kick as seem to be slipping again. To be fair, it's more the exercise I'm slacking with. It's just soooo cold, I can't get the motivation to get out there! I know I'm gaining and mainly from that than diet cos am being good ish! Tummy is getting squishy and I know it's from lack of running. It's quite depressing that I have to run to be the shape I want to be! Moan over!

Hope everyone is feeling brighter than me :)

I have so much catching up to do!! Crazy busy last few weeks. Weigh in this morning and down one pound, considering how unfocussed I was much of the time I think I did okay! Kids off school this week, should be fun!

I'm feeling the same, i've not been able to do any exercise for 2 weeks now because i've done something to my lower back! Its fine whilst i'm sitting but it kills me laying down and lifting. Am hoping it will disappear on its own as i don't fany a trip to the docs. Its suddenly got so cold i dont fancy walking after work, i just want to get home and under a blanket! Will definitely need to sort it out though because i can feel my stamina disappearing....x

Hey girls! After 4 days of messing around worse and being so so bad I'm back on the wagon! Made a lush SW 'fry' up for breakie to remind me why this diet is so good. Sometimes u forget just how much it doesn't feel like one. I expect it's Normal after dieting for like a year to lose interest a bit. Planned my meals til Sunday and bought a slow cooker yesterday so excited to try it! Def feels like a good winter appliance. Does anyone have any nice recipes or tips on how to use one as I've never had one before.

Scales are already dropping back down so the gain def wasn't a true one :) back to 13st6 today so hopefully by Friday ill be back at 13st 4

Jen well done on the notice handing in! Are you feeling more excited now?
Laura excited for ur placement too ;) where are you going?

I'm not going to lie I'm pretty happy I'm going to be studying for the next 3 years as the job market seems like a grim place to be at the mo.

Toni. Well done on the losses, your doing fab!

Cooking a Jamie Oliver fish and cous cous thing I've adapted it's really nice and totally SW friendly.

Actually excited to eat well! :)

Hello newbies! Welcome to the thread, it's a great one :)

I couldn't remember who asked but was worried about eating too much, what you said sounds great so I wouldn't worry at all xx

I've not been able to exercise either, what with this horrible ear infection! Tempted to try it today, but I've woken up feeling very sick and dizzy again, so not sure whether to risk it... Going to have to go back to the doctors I think haha!

To you exercisers, can I have some advice please?

How did you all get started with your regimes? I have started exercising more times than I can count, I generally last 2-4 weeks, then I get lazy and get out of the routine, and then I wait about a year and try again... and quit again!

Any pointers at getting some "staying power"? I don't generally enjoy exercising, but I know all of the benefits it brings me, so I really want to succeed and break my quitter routine!

Charl, I know being off plan is bad, but that pic of the food you had at the pub looked so amazing I was tempted to come off plan myself haha! Looked delicious :D Oooh, well done on buying a slow cooker! There's actually a thread on here with a lot of great ideas - http://www.minimins.com/sw-winter-warmer-recipes/73268-slow-cooker-recipes.html - I use that for a lot of inspiration! There's also my Moroccan stew that is cooked in the slow cooker :D They really are good with winter warmer recipes, and perfect for when you're so busy, you can just chuck it in in the morning and have a delicious dinner waiting for you! One tip I would say is don't put as much liquid as you think it needs - only use about half - most slow cookers double the amount of liquid, and if you don't want to add things like cornflour to thicken it (syns!) then it's best to reduce the amount you add to begin with :)

Fish and cous cous sounds good for dinner - that's what I'm having too haha! My fave meal of roasted veg with couscous and sweet chilli and soy salmon :D

Feeling positive (kind of!) but still not expecting any losses on Fri... Especially as it's my mum's birthday tomorrow haha! Means cake and chinese, YUM! Will try to stick to plan still, though! xx

Are you sure its not vertigo? Go back to the doctors for a second opinion x

I always think if you don't enjoy exercise (I don't really either) try and find one you do enjoy, and that can lead to more. Like team sports, netball can be really good, or swimming is great for toning, or yoga and Zumba. I never liked exercise until I did the 30 day shred and now I really enjoy it. I alternated swimming with 30 day shred in the summer, I've been rubbish lately but it's more that I need to be organised than I don't like it now.

I'm writing a weekly plan for the next month or so, so I can better organise my time and fit exercise in. As all I'm doing now is walking and nothing harder xx

Thank Laura love! You're always so helpful :) xxx

I really enjoyed doing shred, i just havent been able to do it since i first started because of hurting my back! Need to get back into it :(

Me too! I've never even got past level 1, but I just do it as and when I can fit it in and it makes me feel better about getting something done that makes me sweat xx

Thanks both!

Do you think its safe to do shred at my size? I did day 1 once, and i ached for 4 days. Is this normal? I do love Gillian...

Definitely!! In fact its probably a really good form of exercise to do, as its quite short but will burn fat in the best way for you, the first week I did it for 8 days in a row and lost 5lbs and like 6 inches, its actually designed for maximum results or people who are bigger, and will introduce you to longer slightly harder stuff too. The first one is tough and you ache so much but if you push through and keep going for 3-4 days then the aches just stop, and you can always alternate, you don't have to do 10 days in a row, its better to do 1 day shred, 1 day something else, do this 3 times then have a rest day. xx

Hey girls, ooooh, I love my slow cooker! You can pretty much bung anything you like in it. I often make it after brekkie and the smell when you get in later is lush! Am having fish tonight too, with jewelled cous cous. More inspired after a trip to aldi.

Exercise tips, charl is right to do something you enjoy. However, saying that I decided to start running back in Feb and have never ever run, let alone enjoy it! I decided on running cos it's free and have seen the benefits in so many of my friends. I was just over 15 stone when I started and basically wrote my own simple walk/run plan. I then entered the 5k race for life which really kept me focused. I'm now doing a 10k in Dec, my aim is bath half marathon next year. I do swim and do dvds too. It's really hard to stick at it tho, but basically saw the weight dropping off so that motivated me. Swimming might be great to start off with, is gentle but really good for you. The biggest loser workout is another good one.

totally! its about finding a balance, i think if you push too hard thats when you don't stick to a routine, even just going to a brisk walk on the alternating days for a few miles is great too :) x

if you have a smartphone theres an app called Skimble, thats great for finding little routines that fit into any time period you may have, like 5 min ab workouts you can do, or heavier 30-40 min workouts, that target diff areas. Its fab. xx
