Down with Spanx!

Hi lovely. I'm glad to hear you are still doing well. I'm sure you'll knock a big hole in that 12.5lbs before your holiday.

Best of luck :D

Good to see u doing so well. Xx. Tis fab u had a loss at wi. I agree you might be better off with green plan and I think ur holiday goal is doable. Good luck chuck xxx

Hi Karen and JJ - hope you are both well and having a good week! And thanks for your support - I love the support and motivation I get from everyone on here!

I really must spend some time catching up with everyone else's news - just sooo busy at work at the mo that there's no time for anything else!

Another good day today - feel better in myself now that I've decided to stick to green days in the week - I'm in control and I feel I know what I'm doing! I think part of the problem is that I'm completely incapable of planning anything, so I get a bit panicky on EE/Red days, whereas on greens I feel a lot more in control! Control freak, moi? :D

So, today was a familiar Green day:

Brekkie: Alpen light (Half HEB)

Lunch: Baked potato, beans, brown sauce (1 syn)

Snack: Activia ff yoghurt, apple

Dinner: Pasta, pesto (4 syns), low low cheese (HEA)

Snack: Strawberries, ff yoghurt

Hmmm, only half a HEB all day, maybe I should have a bedtime snack!!! :D

OK - yesterday was a bit of a disaster! It seems that work throws me a curveball every week and yesterday I got a call asking me to go down to London for a dinner (with a Government Minister no less ).

Ended up being a high-syn day, particularly as the canteen had no baked potatoes at lunch time and I couldn't resist the free cupcakes on the train!!!

Tuesday: EE day

Brekkie: Alpen light (half HEB), apple, ff yoghurt

Lunch: Cottage pie (cooked in canteen, looked healthy, but had some oil, so have to allow about 5 syns I reckon), peas

Snack: Strawberry cupcake (Quite small and didn't eat icing! 5 syns?), apple

Dinner: king prawns, watercress, lamb, sweet potato and carrot mash, green beans, jus (?2 syns), glass wine (6 syns)

Pudding: (yes, it deserves its own category!!) Lemon posset, raspberries, coulis and 2 small shortbread biscuits (?12 syns)

Snack: (train was late, I was tired and bored and they were free and too tempting at midnight!!!) strawberry cupcake (5 syns)

Total syns for day: 35!!!!

Total syns so far this week: 51

You are fab at pulling things back and sorting out your syns so Im sure you will end the week on a good note with a nice loss xxxx psst... what do you do for a living? Im intrigued!

Thanks Karen - I had a low-syn day yesterday, so pretty sure I should be able to keep to my allowance for the week now!

My job's not that intriguing - I manage Public Affairs for a company, so have to spend quite a lot of time down in London with MPs' researchers and Government departments trying to influence Government policy and build our company reputation... Don't usually get to meet the Ministers though, my boss usually takes those opportunities!!

So, pretty good day yesterday, back in the groove! Tried the Ainsley Harriott Lentil Dahl for tea and can highly recommend it! It's syn-free on green and very filling, very quick and easy to cook, but it also doesn't taste like something out of a packet!

Wednesday: Green day

Brekkie: Alpen light (Half HEB)

Lunch: Pasta, pesto (2 syns), cheese (HEA), apple

Snack: Alpen light, apple

Dinner: Baked potato, lentil dahl, broccoli, strawberries, ff yoghurt.

Total syns for day: 2
Total syns for week so far: 53

My job is to get driven mental by teenagers (in training for my three kiddies...) Its a stepping stone on my way to taking over the world :D Im a little bit addicted to Ainsleys spicy couscous so will definitely give the dahl a whirl. Have a good day Spanx xx

Karen - I can see there's probably a lot of similarities between teenagers and MPs - sulky, loud and definitely drive you mental!

Another green day today (surprise, surprise!) Not enough fresh fruit and veg, will probably remedy that with some strawberries in a mo!

Thursday: Green day

Brekkie: Alpen light

Lunch: Baked potato, baked beans, brown sauce (1 syn), fresh pineapple

Snack: Apple, Alpen light

Dinner: Brown rice, chick pea dahl

Total syns for day: 1
Total syns for week so far: 54

Didn't have any strawberries last night - was reading on minis and then suddenly noticed it was past midnight!

Had to have a new photo taken for work ID today - had to stick my nose in the air to prevent double-chinnage!!

It is a jolt when you have those moments of realisation about how big you had let yourself become - I have had a few similar experiences, like last week when a friend put a photo of me on her facebook page and it was so awful I had to ask her to take it down! It hit me that that was how I looked (it was taken just before I started on SW) and why was I mithering about everyone having seen it on facebook when most of them saw me like that every day!

Another green day today - it's the weekend tomorrow, so might try a couple of EE days...

Friday: Green day

Brekkie: Alpen light (Half HEB), ff yoghurt

Lunch: Baked potato, baked beans, cheese (2xHEA)

Snack: Apple

Dinner: Pasta, leeks, broccoli, mushrooms, philly light with garlic and herbs (3 syns), strawberries, ff yoghurt

Snack: Alpen light (HEB)

Total syns for day: 3
Total syns for week: 57

WI tomorrow morning...hoping for a decent loss this week after a couple of slow weeks!

Morning all! 1.5lbs off for me this morning and I'm pleased with that, although had been hoping for either another half a pound to take me into the 14s for the first time in more than 2 years, or another 1lb to get me to my 2st shiny! Still, beggars can't be choosers and all that! :D

Karen - I can see there's probably a lot of similarities between teenagers and MPs - sulky, loud and definitely drive you mental!

Oooo I can so relate. I work for a Government policy department and sometimes the Minister's have been more trouble than my kids :p Especially when the ones we've had all seem to like the press.....

Well done on the loss. Those cupcakes would have been too tempting for me......and free too - the best kind ;)

Hi Spanx,
Well done on your weight loss, you are doing so well and I'm sure you will get to your weight loss target before you go on hols.

:happy036::happy036: on the loss Spanx..

I soooo get what you mean about the pics... At my biggest *yep bigger than I was when I started SW * we went on holiday to Greece with some family and as much as I dodged the cameras they still got me *bleepers*... come xmas , part of my pressy was a beautiful greek photo albumn with pics in from THAT holiday ... I will never understand why they thought that would be a nice pressy for me
Mind, there were some nice shots of hubby -unfortunately I was on them too

Just think though -neither of us will ever be as big as we were in those pics -ever again :bliss:
Keep up the great work flower....

Thank you my lovely girlies! I'm feeling really good this week, so hoping for another loss, although I've got 2 nights out - my birthday and a hen night, so might have to settle for a STS!! Will be trying to have largely syn-free days from now on this week (apart from those two) and will hope that helps!

Also, my company has moved to new offices as of tomorrow, so I will have to park about 10-15 minutes walk away - hoping that being a little more active twice a day will also help - I used to park right outside the front door and sometimes never moved from my desk all day, so let's hope this makes a difference!

Made a chicken and veggie curry yesterday, was pretty nice, apart from a bit runny - what do people put in their curries (apart from yoghurt, I had a nasty 'curdling' experience once and it's put me off trying again!) to thicken the sauce a bit? Any ideas gratefully received!

Saturday: EE day

Brekkie: Apple, Alpen light (half HEB)

Lunch: Pasta, broccoli, mushrooms, leeks and philly light (2 syns)

Dinner: Chicken, potato and veg (mushrooms, tomatoes, green beans, onions, spinach) curry, rice

Snacks: Alpen light (other half HEB), Kitkat (5.5 syns)

Total syns for day: 7.5

Capricorn - one of the things I hate about having been overweight for so long is that there are no lovely pics of me and my son - in all of them I either look huge, or I'm hiding behind something! I'm determined that this time next year things will be different! I will just have to hang on to that thought that I will never be that big again! x

Well done! You'll get the two stone shiny and be in the 14s hopefully next week! ;)

I've never tried it, but I've read on here that some people use a bit of instant mash as a thickener :)

You could always 'buy' some cornflour with your syns.......if you can afford it or want to spend any :D lol

Thanks Dream, hope all is well with you!

Instant mash hey Bev, now there's a thought...might give it a good curry consistency too!

So, today was another EE weekend day. Got up late and mooched about a bit, then decided to do a cook-a-thon, so nipped to the shops to get loads of veggies in and made myself a huge slow cooker full of veggie stew/soup, plus some lovely chicken thighs for tea... see here for recipe: http://www.minimins.com/slimming-world-recipes/100950-honey-chilli-chicken-drumsticks.html

They were scrummy and, best of all, my son ate them like there was no tomorrow and asked for more! A small miracle on SW, as he seems to have a radar which identifies anything remotely healthy and then refuses to like it!

First day in new office tomorrow, which means a 23 mile trip to work instead of 4, plus a 15 min walk, as can't park at the office... All adds up to even more of a rush in the morning and as I can't drop my son off to school until 8.30, I won't be in work before 9.30am. I can see I won't be popular!

Sunday: EE day

Brekkie: Alpen light (Half HEB) - got up late and didn't really fancy anything!

Lunch: Chicken, veg and potato curry (left over from last night, no rice, trying to limit carbs!)

Dinner: Chilli chicken thighs, baked potato, stir-fry veg

Syns for the day: 0
Syns so far this week: 7.5

Well, the syn-free day went t*ts-up this morning! Got to the new office to find the coffee bar was giving away cakes! How dare they?! Anyway, as a result of not having had any brekkie (too much of a rush) and the cakes looking far more appealing than the Alpen light and yoghurt in my bag, quarter of a lemon muffin found its way into my mouth before I knew what was happening! Oh, and then I ate my brekkie too!

Do you know the worse thing? I didn't even register I was eating it, so I'd swallowed it before I even tasted it!!!!

Definitely a fallen angel today! :break_diet:

Monday: Green day

Brekkie: Quarter of a lemon muffin (5 syns?), Alpen light (Half HEB), ff yoghurt

Lunch: Baked potato, beans, cheese (HEA)

Dinner: Veggie soup, pasta, pesto (2 syns)

Total syns for day: 7
Total syns so far this week: 14.5
