Down with Spanx!

Thanks Surreygal and Sian - I'm still bouncing!

I made another one of those Schwartz slow cooker recipes for dinner - the chicken in red wine one - 6 syns for the pack, plus two for tomato puree, but made 3 big portions! It should have made 4, but I only had 6 small chicken thighs rather than the 8 the packet said...

It was pretty good, although I think they put too much rosemary in it - I know it sounds daft, but if I do it again I will pick out some of the rosemary before adding the mix! Just the ticket for a cold winter's night though!

Saturday: EE

Brekkie: Alpen light (half HEB), ff yoghurt
Lunch: Superspeed veggie and bean soup, baked potato, cheese (HEA)
Snack: Apple
Dinner: Chicken in red wine sauce (3 syns), with bacon, mushrooms and onions, broccoli, peas and baked potato
Snack: KitKat (5.5 syns)

Total syns for day: 8.5

I tried on 3 pairs of size 18 work trousers I've got hanging in the wardrobe earlier - they fit everywhere, but my stomach still looks humungous in them, so I think they'll be staying in the wardrobe for a while yet!

It confirmed my feeling that I'm losing weight from everywhere except my stomach. I've lost over 6 inches from my bust and hips, but only 3 from my waist, which is now only 3 inches smaller than my hips and bust!

Anyone else had this? Is the only answer sit-ups?! I have very weak stomach muscles as a result of a caesarean, so much so that it has caused back problems - apparently my back has to work harder because my stomach muscles refuse to pull their weight! So sit-ups are a no-no for me - any other bright ideas for getting rid of my podge gratefully received!!!

Today started off as an EE day, but ended up green I think. Have a stinking cold and just wanted comfort food and definitely no veg!!!

Sunday: Green

Brekkie: Alpen light (half HEB)
Lunch: Chicken (HEB) and bacon (3 syns) casserole (3 syns) with baked potato
Snack: Alpen light (half HEB)
Dinner: Pasta, pesto (2.5 syns), cheese (HEA), ff yoghurt
Snack: KitKat (5.5 syns)

Total syns for day: 14
Totals syns for week so far: 22.5

Hi Spanx :wavey:

Just wanted to drop by and say thank you for you nice words on my other post. It really meant a lot that people understood and I felt so much better when I got it off my chest.

Today I started again. One day at a time. Capricorn was right, there is so much more to this journey than shifting weight, it is about loosing weight and changing the way I treat myself. Instead of looking at the bigger picture, I am going to concentrate on 1lb at a time. Hey if it takes me 2 years to do it, better 2 years than never hey?

I just put my tree up with my OH, listenned to xmas music and felt happy- it's a start :)

So thanks again, I lurk in your diary often. Congratulations on what you have achieved so far, and well done on the trousers. It's funny how you change shape isn't it. My calves are my problem, jeans too big on tummy but skin tight on legs.

Ah well as the queensize to princesses often say 'onwards and downwards!

Claire xx

spanx, my tum isnt shifting either. i pondered twisty exercise such as hula hooping or doing the hoops on the wii but just the thought exhausted me :D if it doesnt magic away soon i will revisit crazy ideas of working out. i've had 3 sections and havent seen any sign of muscle in a decade. i bet they are in tatters! xxx

Blimey Kellie - you must be joking (and very flexible!) I don't even know where I'd start trying to do that!

I did find some pilates/yoga exercises when I googled, so I'm going to try some of those I think!

Thanks for your support Claire and Karen!
I hope you're feeling more positive Claire - though I can't believe you've already got your decs up - how organised is that?! I have only just got round to asking my son what he wants for Christmas!!!

I've had a couple of reasonable SW days, especially considering I've got a horrid cold, which usually means eating rubbish and lots of cream of tomato soup with crusty bread, so I'm feeling quite pleased with myself!

Monday: Green

Brekkie: Alpen light (half HEB), ff yoghurt
Lunch: Bachelors low fat sweet chilli noodles (quite nice actually!)
Dinner: Last of the Chicken casserole (1.5 HEB + 3 syns), oven chips (5 syns), peas

Total syns for day: 8
Week so far: 30.5

Also, I have started a thread on the Off Topic forum about clothes and style...am looking for some ideas, so if you want to help out, here's the link!

Maybe all that shivering in the cold this week has worked some body magic, as I'd lost 2lb at WI this morning! Woohoo - that makes 4.5lbs in 2 weeks, which is the best 2 weeks in a row I've had since the first two!

Only 2lbs to go to get into the 13s and to get my 3st shiny! Now that would be a nice Christmas pressie Santa! :D

Well done spanx another great loss. Now a new shiny for xmas would be super:D.Go spanx.xxx

A pretty good SW-weekend, although the chocolate fairy visited again!

Decided to measure myself over the weekend and found I've finally started to lose from my waist! Yippee!

4 July: 52.5"
4 Sept: 48"
4 Dec: 46"

4 Dec: 38"

Waist - total lost so far = 5.5"

Well, I've had an absolute nightmare SW night tonight - and it came from nowhere!

I was tired and stressed (I'm leaving work next week and still got loads to do plus people keep asking me to do more!!!) and then my ex phoned to say my son hadn't been at school today because he's ill, so when he got home, he said he wanted pizza and I couldn't be bothered to cook, so I caved in!

Not only did we have pizza, but the place nearest us that delivers does a deal with pizza, chips and garlic bread...

I dread to think how many syns I've had tonight, but I feel rather sick and am very cross with myself!!!

Need to get back on the wagon tomorrow and have a really good couple of days before WI on Saturday!

All the Christmas parties start this weekend too - got 3 in the run up to Christmas and then 2 over Christmas/New Year. I'd planned to try and stay roughly on plan, but my willpower appears to have nosedived!!

I had a night out last night too, so my total syns for this week are probably standing at somewhere around 80 already (which is quite a lot for me).

Right, time for the rest of the week update. Managed to pull it back a bit after the disaaaaaster (as Craig Revel-Horwood would say!) of earlier in the week, so hopeful that I won't have gained tomorrow, but not convinced I will have lost!

At work today, I had one of those 'Grrr' moments! I was standing next to one of my colleagues, (let's call her Ms X) who is a slim size 10, and we were talking to two other colleagues. One of them asked Ms X 'Have you lost weight?', at which point, she preened and said 'Yes - I've lost 3lbs!!!' Colleague No 2, said - 'Wow - you're looking really great!' I stood there, waiting for my compliment, but nothing happened, except for some tumbleweed blowing across the office...!!! Typical!

Total syns for the week c.87

Wish me luck for WI tomorrow...

WI this morning and only 0.5lb lost. Still, it could have been worse, what with a blow out mid-week! Still 1lb away from getting into the 13s for Christmas and 1.5lbs away from my 3st shiny... will have to try very hard this week, although it will be difficult with two Christmas nights out!

Have a great weekend everyone! x

So, I'm finding this week quite hard... my brain seems to think that a couple of nights out = no need to worry about the rest of the week!

It's probably because it's my last week at work - I'm leaving (due to redundancy) on Friday, so it's a bit of a rollercoaster week emotionally!

Anyway, here's the debate I was having with my inner little devil on the way home from Christmas shopping tonight... I was starving, as it was 7.30pm and I hadn't eaten...

Little Devil: 'Go on, stop at the chippy, you know you want chips!'
Me: 'No, I WILL be strong!'
LD: 'But it's late and you're hungry...'
Me: 'I know, but I'm not having chips!'
LD: 'Go on, just a small portion, only about 12 syns... and then have some fish and don't eat the batter...'
Me: NO, NO, NO....but that does sound nice...maybe once wouldn't hurt!'
LD: 'Yeeeeesssss, that's the spirit, I won't tell anyone!'
Me: 'Hmmm, chips...'
LD: 'Yes, chips, all hot and greasy with loads of salt and vinegar, you could even eat them straight from the paper...'
Me: 'NO, well, I suppose I could have oven chips when I get home, yes, that's what I'll do!' :angel09:

Action cuts to kitchen:

Me: 'Aaaaghhh, no ****** oven chips!'
LD: 'Ahahahahahahahaha! Told you you should have stopped at the chippy!'
Me: 'Oh well, left over syn-free curry and basmati rice it is then...'
LD: 'GRRRRRRRR! Oh well, I tried my hardest...'

VICTORY WAS MINE!!!! (But it was a pretty close call!)

Yay well done you for resisting!! Not sure I'd have managed ;)

I know exactly how you felt with the work colleague thing the other day.....we have about the same sort of stats and I think it's getting noticable now I've lost 2.5 stone.....do you think even one person has noticed at work!!?? Not a single one. I know I'm doing it for me but just the odd 'have you lost weight' comment would let me know I was achieving something.

Keep going, you're doing so well. x

Thanks Emmy Lou! I did manage a couple of NSVs this week - one when a colleague who has been on maternity leave for 6 months came in and told me I looked fab and one when I dared to wear jeggings on the christmas night out and some of my work colleagues finally noticed!!!

Sadly, the 2 nights out this week took their toll and I gained half a pound this week. Still, to be honest, I feel like I've got off lightly, as I threw caution to the wind on those nights out and on one managed to drink about 8 glasses of champers and have a 3 course meal!!!

Now back on the straight and narrow and trying to get 1.5lbs off for Christmas to get me into the 13s!

Well done on only putting on a pound, that's terrific!!! I've got another pound to lose this year to make it a nice round number, but I'm not sure that the next two weeks will be that easy...:)

Great when people finally notice, isn't it? You must have been walking on cloud 9!

Thanks Honey and good luck for your WI this week to get you to that big 50!

I've had an absolutely stinking cold all week and, as a result, have been craving comfort food! I've not done too badly, but have given in to a festive treat or two over the last two days! I wasn't helped by the fact that my well-meaning mother came round with a big bag of shopping including mini pork pies and caramel shortbreads! Have managed to resist reasonably well though, only had one mini pork pie and one mini caramel shortbread - six months ago I would have wolfed the lot! Every time someone comes round I force one of each down them so that there's less to tempt me!!!!

My mum also brought me some ready meals from the M&S feel fuller for longer range - not sure what the syns are, but they're not bad... I've had the thai curry one and a lamb hotpot. I'm not going to worry about it too much, as I felt too bleugh to cook, so at least it meant I was eating something vaguely healthy rather than rubbish!
