Hi I've had the test done and I'm officially in the menapause:cry: dont know why I haven't got Grey hair or ware a pinny. But I'm so worried when I go on hrt will the weight I've lost go back on? and if it doesn't will it affect my future weight loss if any one is out there going through the same with help and advice my ears are big and I'm listening x

Sorry I can't answer your question re: putting weight on with HRT as I couldnt have it because my late sister had breast cancer. I've had to suffer with awful symptoms but since doing Dukan they've almost disappeared :)

I have been on them for four months now without gaining any of the weight back YET.

Apparently losing fat can lower estrogen levels so I started having terrible symptoms. However, I was very worried about undoing all my hard work.

I went on Premique low dose which is an extremely low dose for three months and decided to change to a higher dose. I have been on them for just a month now but so far so good.

If you are suffering I would say it's worth a try. Will be interesting to see if anyone else has had good or bad results on them.

Yes it would be interesting to see results against Dukan Diet with HRT good to hear Chris overcoming her symptoms with diet alone. Hopefully I will have no weight gain like you slimdreamer, and hope you dosage increase doesn't upset your weightloss too, hope more Dukeners post and have more infomation.

Thank you - I have the odd hot flush & palputations but other than that I'm fine. Still can get grumpyness but thats just life! LOL

My mum couldnt have hrt due to a condition we have and she went down the homeopathy route she still had the odd hot flush but not nearly as bad as she was having. I must actually take note of what it was she was taking as im also not able to take any type of hormones

At my worst I tried black cohosh and a few others but a side affect was nearly always weight gain didnt make any difference to my symptoms. Not a pleasant experience for anyone to go through and you only know what its like when its happening to you ......Too much sugar is definately a trigger and alcohol -
of course on Dukan we have none .........

Doctor has gave me low dose clonidine until I had a mamagram, which I've had and I'm all clear, so now he wants me to move onto HRT. I've got to give it a try like you said Chris if someone hasn't been through it they have no idea. At Christmas it had been going on for a year progressively getting worse, I wasn't sleeping longer than 2 hours before a flush that was lasting 4-5 mins I had too open window in freezing temperatures as silly as it sounds I laid on the floor like a star fish to try to cool down, I have longish hair that was drenched, not pleasant at all. It affected concentration at work and very embarrassing when every hour I flushed even my arms went red. Clonidine has help but its all started again, not as severe. If HRT doesn't work for me alternative therapies might be the way forward.

I do sympathise siddid Im lucky in that I dont go bright red so noone knows when its happening other than me ...... I feel sick at times, palputations are awful and yes sleep disruption is bad - been known to have a shower at 4 in the morning - but then im freezing <shakes head> Im constantly tired oh the joys of being female ............... but on a lighter note I have been much better with Dukan - I made a promise to my sister that I would not take hormones and I've kept it, it wouldnt have been prescribed for me anyway

Good luck Sididd, I do know how you feel. I was absolutely exhausted because I was getting no sleep at all and now feel so much better.

The nurse dealt with me in advising about HRT and she said it takes at least three months to see if it is helping or not. She also said it is not uncommon to try a few different ones out, many woman find some suit them much better than others.

In regards to the diet helping, the diet is what did me in! I had no symptoms to speak of when I went through menopause a few years ago but losing my fat created an extreme lack of estrogen in my system and created problems I didn't have before. I guess that just goes to show how different we all react to the diet.

Let us know how you get on.

Nice to know I'm not alone, and that weight loss is possible in the menapause as I'm sat hear typing and flushing up haha ;-)

I went into early menopause at 37 due to surgery for suspected ovarian cancer (luckily it was really bad endo. instead but everything still had to go) and have been on HRT practically since then - at my age the benefits outweigh the risks and the sudden menopause caused constant hot flushes. It was practically every hour and I would sit there bright red with sweat dripping off my face. I immediately noticed differences in my food preferences. I craved things like tomato ketchup and went through 2 bottles in 6 months when previously it would linger in the fridge for years. Already overweight, I put on 2 stone after the operation - a combination, I think, of recuperation and changing on to HRT. Since then I've tried weightwatchers, rosemary conley and NHS weight loss and on each I either lost slowly or not at all and had terrible hunger and cravings.

I'm nearly at the end of three weeks on Dukan. I have had mild cravings, no hunger, and I've lost over half a stone. The pain in my breasts and calves I've had almost constantly on HRT has disappeared which I'm putting down to less water retention. I feel better on this diet than I have done for years. It's also helped with another problem I have (I had my gallbladder removed 6 years ago and have suffered with bowel problems since then).

The only negative I have is that I've had neck and back pain. I suspect this is due to muscle ache and it will go down if I start doing some upper body strength exercises. So far everything has concentrated on my bottom half, meaning I've lost inches from my thighs but nothing from my waist!

Wow angrrrr what a time you have had, I had a hysterectomy at 36 for same problem but I was lucky and kept my overies but another possitive for the Dukan Diet helping menepause symptoms , good luck x

Dukan diet is amazing, the health benifits are fantastic when I go to doctors next week I will mention what you ladies have reported about how the Dukan Diet is helping some without HRT.

Theeeeerrrrrreeeeee back, the night flushes, day flushes are again out of control and I'm again feeling a little p*****d off. A male shoventist (why can't I spell) pig I work work, must say he wouldn't dare speak to me in a derogatory way, we was discussing a problem with views for different angles...and I was flushing...I hate it I work in a male dominated work place and cannot be seen to be weak, and I feel the flushing makes me at a disadvantage, especially him... and I now think I may have gout in my little fingers top joint... I've googled it and it says oily fish, red meat and not drinking enough water can cause it, or women going through the menapause....another damm problem any of you ladies suffering the same? Or just little old menapausal me :-(

The flushes are crap, aren't they!

I'm on HRT after an early menopause - with extreme symptoms (i didn't sleep for 37 nights in a row - I was hallucinating by the time the specialist saw me and whipped out the HRT )

During that month of flushes and sleeplessness I put on 14lbs - once I started HRT I stablised, but couldn't shift the extra weight at all.

Finally I discovered Dukan, and the weight melted off.

Still on HRT - (skin gel rather than pills) and still on Dukan.

37 night......that's terrible, after broken sleep I was bad enough. No wonder you were seeing things. Doctors still got me on clonidine, my nursey friend said that is an old hat treatment but everytime he ups my dose the sweats do stop a while. He's reluctant to give me hrt, not for medical reasons just that at the moment night/day sweats are my only sympyoms. Hope I'm out of it soon xxx
