FireDragon JUDDD Journey

I am very new to low carb eating. I did Atkins a few years ago and I do know that one carb is never enough. If I start it's a slippery slope to eating more and more cos the more carbs I eat the hungrier I feel cos they shoot my blood sugar up. The only way me is for to eat none in the form that's additive which in my case is potato and bread and cereal. I'm still JUDDing but eating Primal on my UD's.

Mis, I am thinking the same thing. I am thinking of ways to combine JUD with atkins but not be so severe on that down day.

right now straight atkins, but I know deep down JUDD has some huge benefits. somehow I will try to work some kind of plan up to take advantage of it.

ice cream and taters. Yes. I know exactly what you mean. Last night I jumped on chocolate and chips. wasn't pretty :)
I know I have to try hard today so I am planning alot of low carb snacks for tonight if needed. time to break that carb craving problem again.

ladybird I agree. carbs are evil for this old body also. one is never enough. I sure know that feeling.

What is Primal? Is that where you eat the kinds of foods that were around before manufactured foods came into play?
basically meat and veg?

Success of 1.5 lbs. lost back on atkins one day. might have been more but I snacked out on a bunch of rubbish last night.

will get alot of low carb snacks ready for tonight. hopefully I can break the cycle of carb cravings fast and move forward on losing some lbs.

WOW
thank you for the link.
I have read alot of the site now but going back to read more and research on the net about primal.

makes alot of sense to me.

I know, somewhere deep down, things have got to change for a healthier happy life when it comes to food control.
I will suck up tons of info from this site. Thanks Mis. all info helps me so much. this seems like a great one!

Yes that's it really. There's a section on Paleo/Primal on the forum and if you read Marks Daily Apple ( it' s a website) it's rally informative. He wrote Primal Blueprint which is now on kindle. Primal's a bit more relaxed then Atkins as you can have some cheese, red wine and dark chocolate. Always a bonus in my view :)

Ladybird I like the wine, cheese and chocolate exceptions. :)

I know with paleo/primal that many really cut their food products to all nature, then bump up a tad to allow a few things into their life they personally want. still is a wonderful clean way of eating thru life I think.

thanks!

wow MIS
that is cool seeing muffins on primal also.

I have a bag of coconut flour in the house now. something I might be making tomorrow just to try.
nutritional info seems fine on them also.

THANKS

I have a question about primal.

I found a great cheddar biscuit recipe. 3 cups almond flour, 3 eggs, 1 tsp baking soda, 1/4 cup plain yogurt, 1/2 cup water, 6 oz. shredded cheddar cheese. (add small dice, one jal. pepper if desired)

when I run the numbers it comes out to 2912 cals. (42 carbs) for the batch. makes 12. that is 242 calories EACH

so my question is what is primal checking? net carbs you don't check right? is it calories??

while everything in those cheddar biscuits is fresh, natural etc. and definitely a better food than a processed biscuit, the calorie count is huge. 2 would be 484 calories.

So is primal worried more abuot the fresh, naturalness of the food vs. calorie counts?

just wondering. cause primal I can also go thru the roof on calories if I add in things like these biscuits.

How does one lose on eating like this?

It is my sons birthday on Thursday, so have been trying to find a cupcake recipe that the cupcakes don't turn into rocks the next day .. So these are a fab find! Everybody likes them,

With biscuits/ cakes with almond flour it an occasional treat, just like nuts - I found that things made with almond flour stalled my weight loss where as things made with coconut flour didn't make as much difference :)

But in general biscuits / sweet treats are a occasional treat item not an every day thing :) I keep telling myself that about dark choc too, so instead I limit myself to 6 small bits (aprox 100kcals)

To loose weight the carbs need to between 50-100g up to 150g is maintenance :)

The main thing to remember is to fill your day with plenty veg, salad, meats, other things in moderation or limited quanties.

Most days my carbs are 10 or below but not today. The recipe Mis posted I baked today and then scoffed the lot - hic. They were yummy so thanks for that. I have printed off a load more and have supplies coming. Peanut and chocolate appeals and the same site you got the one above from has a great chocolate peanut cup recipe.:)

I like the fact they are just as nice the next day.. I had to make them 3x last night - kids, OH and me .. 4 left today.

I've tried other styles of cupcakes and next day crumbly rocks .. In the end my kids just said stop making yucky cupcakes lol

My sons will be happy with these in his lunch box. :)

OH this gives me a great start to how to handle primal.

So basically I can combine atkins with primal. I guess everyone has a personal degree of primal we can follow.

I know I can't do without canned tuna and all that. I will have to allow some 'packaged and canned' items into my life BUT to severely limit and make/bake your own instead of buying from a box is smart.

OK I had for lunch:

1/4 cup chopped fine raw broccoli
1/2 cup chopped fine raw cauliflower
50 ml raisins
50 ml craisins
1 med. carrot shredded
1 oz sunflower seeds (had roasted/salted but will by the better ones next time)

didn't use the splash of lemon juice----instead I used 1 tablesp. of ranch dressing.

So while I didn't go whole hog into primal, this is a step in the right direction? I hope I did kinda ok.
I plugged it into my tracker. Net carbs are 78. Cals. are 522.

I probably should not have added those extra 1/4 cup craisins. but I love the sweet in it :)

Did I push this too far in extras in the salad?

Less dried fruit :) as its high in carbs/ natural sugars - maybe try a bit like 15g ??? Of each and some/ little bit chopped up orange ?? Not sure of carb content of oranges

But sounded yummy :)
