From here to Eternally Slim

Hi Emma - I was being 100% good for weeks and weeks with 1/2 pound off, 1 on, 1/2 off 1 off etc etc. Really frustrating. I went (planned) to the chinese all you can eat buffet, and an indian (where I had a korma so very naughty). I lost 2 1/2 that week, and 3 and 3 1/2 since. Think it actually gave my system a jolt, and did me good.
Can't say that'll def be the same for you, but it worked for me, and it felt so nice to have a treat, but then get right back on it again. Felt in control, and like this was something I could do forever without feeling deprived.
Good luck and I hope you can enjoy it x

Morning all!

Am bravely wading through a weekend surrounded by DHs birthday chocolate. So far I have had one single thorntons choc, which isnt on the website but I estimate at 3 syns, yesterday. I would feel quite proud of myself if I wasnt in a constant battle to eat the whole lot. :D

Having a bit of a panic attack because DS has dropped a "Im going on holiday with some friends for a week" bombshell. He is 17 and I cant really stop him going but he doesnt have much money put aside for spends and he goes away the day before we come back from Scotland, and I am struggling to make sure we can afford that. Even though the accomodation is free, the petrol is going to be massively expensive, and we have to eat and try and do some things with the kids while we are there, I was hoping to take them to Balamory but I dont even know if we can afford the ferry costs, because we would have to take the car over. Now DS says he wants to go on this holiday, which is to a caravan in Wales with about 8 friends. He will need money for eats and spends too. Because he has Aspergers, I consider this a real achievement for him socially, and I wouldnt want to deny him the opportunity, but at the same time I am worried about how he will cope, and of course finding some extra money to make sure he is covered for eventualities.

Going to root through the house this week and see if we can find anything worth putting in a boot sale, which hopefully we will be able to do next weekend, if my mum can have the kids. This week we will be mostly eating the contents of the cupboards and freezer in an attempt to save a bit on household shopping in the mean time.

Hope everyone else has a less stressy weekend than me!

Morning everyone,

Congratulations on some fantastic losses the last few days, well done.

Emma, try and go out and enjoy it. As you said as a busy mum you may not get to go out often (like me!) so when a treat comes along try and enjoy it to the best of your ability. Hope you have a great time hun.

EF, have a lovely time in Skegness. That is probably our nearest beach but still about a 1 hour 3/4 drive away! I have been told Sutton on Sea is rather nice and more quiet than Skegness but very close by. I am going to give that a go if the weather is fine when I am off work for the 1st week of August.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend too. MLM I will be with you in mind and spirit because I am de-junking and getting rid of lots of things this weekend. I have a whole cupboard full of clothes that are too small so going to sort out some charity shop bits and some stuff to sell on eBay. I don't do boot sales (to sell but I like a good browse) as some people really get on my wick! I can't be doing with the haggler that want to walk away with 30 pounds worth of things for 10p! I am normally a really patient person but that really gets my goat!

I know what you mean about letting go. My oldest is 17 and it is hard to let him out for the night etc. He hasn't said that he wants to go away on holiday yet but I think that will be coming very soon. I am fotunate though that he works part time and earns pretty good money so he could afford to pay for a large part of it himself. Money seems to be tight for a lot of people I know at the moment (including myself) and the 6 weeks holidays are going to be a challenge. Trying to keep the kids entertained on a budget isn't easy, but I do try. The cinemas are pretty good when they do 1 pound tickets to kids showings through the holidays or at weekends. I also enjoy the 1p bowling at Hollywood Bowl throughout the holidays, times are restricted but at least you get to have a go! I know the last time I went peak time bowling for the 5 of us it cost me 26 pounds and was over in 45 minutes!
I hope you have a lovely time in Scotland, I'll have to wait until October before I go and I can't wait!

Thanks Libra. TBH I am finding the whole concept thoroughly depressing at the moment. I will LOVE being up there but I hate worrying about making sure we are financially ok to do it. This will be my girls first proper holiday and although its only for 5 days, and part of two of them we will be travelling, I dont want to feel like I will have to say "no you cant have that" while we are there, or not be able to make a good contribution to the food and drink budget.

TBH, its mostly the petrol I am worried about for our holiday. I reckon it will probably be over £100 on petrol alone. To be fair, thats much cheaper than getting the train up, for the four of us it would be nearer £200 on the train, but I know we will be visiting relatives up there too, even if we dont go to Mull, there will be plenty of running around in the car.

I reckon I can probably put together some bits and bobs of tinned food and stuff for my son, so at least I know he can eat something while he is away. He is very good with money usually but has found this group of friends and little by little, what money he does have is being whittled away by bus fares and a bit of socialising here and there. I cant in good conscience let him go away with no money in his pockets, but equally I don't have much of anything to contribute. If he had decided this a couple of months ago I could have done something a bit more, but he only let us know three days ago.

Ah, well, we will just have to manage and hope its not raining next sunday if we go do a boot sale. Failing that, a lottery win tonight might do it.

:cross: for you huni x

This is what most of our weekly budget goes on. I have to travel large areas through the job I do and it can cost me about 60 pounds upwards a week for petrol  My employer has decided to cut the mileage rates and has taken the car user lump sum that we used to get every month away. So I am down 100 pounds at least every month, but still have to use my car even though they only pay me a very basic mileage rate which is not covering my costs. Hey ho, I suppose I am lucky to have a job, for how long I don't know the way things are going in Local Authorities at the minute. It's far from only me in this position but it is sort of like having an axe above your head and waiting to see if it falls. I am guessing people across education, NHS and all the public services are feeling the same at the moment.

I know how it is with money - I go down to stat maternity pay next month and I am dreading it!! Spending this week eating through the freezer, its amazing how much stuff gets forgotton in there, so may not be totally sw but will try my best!!

The demon drink! I know I went way way over 50 syns on wine and lager last night (will have to count later for my food diary) but at least we didn't get a pizza or chips and curry on the way home so I'm looking on the brightside :) x

Hiya all - hope everyone had a great weekend? Not too bad here, a weekend at home which was nice for a change!! Food wise - not bad and 2 long walks with doggy :)

Morning :)

Not finishing til 8pm, tonight, am in now and just about to start picking the teenagers up for their day's activities. So have taken this eve as a holiday from SW WI and will be there next week now. Late finish all week and need to stay on track, so even if i get home late I will post on here.

Enjoy your day xx

Morning all,

Glad to here you had good weekends!!

Ive had a serious case of self sabotage! I was on track to get a good loss this week n then i went on a night out, had some kfc chicken although i avoided the chips and then drank more vodka than a brewery can hold!! Yesterday i ate some rather naughty snacky foods and had sereve * week pains (as its my 1st one for about 3 months) and now im really worrid i wont get my 1/2 off!! I cant really whinge as i know its my own fault if i dont get it but i really wanted it before my bday.

Oh well, back on track today and hoping for a good week xx

I know how you're feeling, Pesty (well, mostly )!

I had a mainly horrendous weekend, culminating yesterday in a feast over 12 hours where I ate 3 packets of crisps, two bowls of cereal (not HexB) and two packets of chewy sweets, in addition to my usual.

No chance of the planned 3lbs this week I fear. Now I'm just hoping for a loss :(

I really hope you get your half. Should be possible.

Morning!!

Nothing exciting to report here, other than I have to go to WI a bit early tonight so I can help with weighing and sign ins. Going to see new toy story on thurs with the kids so must stay away from the pic n mix!! Only a week and a half till we go away now, so need to be 100% between now and then. Am less worried about finances having spoken to eldest son at some length, will pick him a few cheap bits of food up before he goes, but he has enough spends.

Last day of scanbran challenge today. I feel thoroughly cleansed! It's like a colonic irrigation in small cardboard square shapes.

Have a good day!!

Thanks Scanbran!!

Its a horrible feeling knowing its your own fault isnt it!! Especially as i know that ive been 100% and STS for a couple of weeks, it was my real chance to get some lbs off!

Im hoping the fairys will lift me up a bit whilst im on the scales to make me weigh a bit less! :giggle:

Im going out for birthday drinks and my birthday meal this weekend so theres not much hope for me having any miracle losses any time soon! Although obviously i'll make the best choices i can!

Good luck for your weigh in Scanbran!

Mornin MLM!! Glad to hear your feeling a bit better about your finances! Hope your scanbran challenge gets you a good loss! xx

Random but i have just updated my ticker and realised that im pretty much half way to my ultimate target :)

My BMI is now also in the 27's :bliss:

My 1st target is to lose another 14.5lbs to make me 10 and half stone!! Im hoping to get there before xmas :)

Only wish i had noticed all this before my weekend binge! xx

xxxx

HI all

Well done to everyone for losing - me I sts can't grumble at that (must change my profile as I put on 2lbs at last WI so it should read 196 not 194 will do that later today). I am back on track but find it hard to resist food like cake, chocolate etc..but am determined.:):p

MLM - can you not get any sort of grant/funding for your boy from LA - there are lots of carers assoc out there????

Pesty - fingers crossed for you.:)

EF - Enjoy your Hols:)

Oh well back to the grind stone:(

Kats:)

Morning everyone,

Hope a good weekend was had by all. Mine was quite boring but necessary, would much rather have been with you Pesty! Don't worry about WI, you never know you may be surprised.

MLM - colonic irrigation! Out of interest has anyone ever had one of these? My friend has one every 3 months and she says it gets rid of her bloating and swears by them. I have thought about having one but not sure about that pipe going you know where! *crosses legs*!

Hey Libra!

You wouldnt have wanted to be with me yesterday, i was hungover and im pain and spent the whole day whinging!! lol

Ive never had a colonic irrigation. I have thought about it as i only go to the loo once a week so thought it might help me clear the pipes lol. Im too much of a chicken tho, i can imagine it must be quite uncomfortable!!

xxx

Hey there,
A friend of a friend has just started having them done, and swears by them. She said she feels less bloated, more healthy and it has actually made it much easier for her to go on the toilet regularly (she has bad IBS). Apparently she has saved up to go again in 3wks! She also thought it would be embarrassing but apparently it was fine. Still not sure myself tho! x

Trust me on this, a week on scanbran will eliminate :8855: ANY need for colonic irrigation!!! Look Ma! I made a funneh!!

Not expecting a loss like last week, coz really that was a 2 week loss minus the couple of off plan days I had. Still, any loss is a good loss!!
