Hi Gemma, Ive just read the news about your Dad and Im really sorry to hear that they have had to lay him off.
There are firms that will take him on and since he has been loyal to one company since he was 16, this will certainly work in his favour, so there will be something for him, even if things seem a little dark at the moment.
Thats great news about your microwave too! We had the turntable plate explode on ours (its a convection one) and couldnt find the receipt to take it back to Argos, but after speaking to Customer Services was told that if I had proof of purchase ie credit card statement, they would refund it...so that worked for me!

Hi Gem, just popping in to say hello on your SW thread.

Tell your dad he should go and see a solicitor specialising in employment law. If he has been with the same firm for years it may be that he is technically not self-employed. Some employment lawyers will do no-win-no-fee.

Spoken to my mum and dad tonight,tomorrow is his last day at work,he is gutted working for someone all your working life.
He has done all he can for that guy,his boss said years ago if anything happened to him the company is my dads.
Dad said he needs a job as my mum has got her operation on 29th December and off for 16 weeks.

Apart from all the sad news i am doing ok just feeling very sad xx

Just read the news about your dad....thats so sad. The current situation completely upsets me. Its the end of an era. I was saying to my grandma the other day that everyone who was "great" from back in the day is starting to pass away. I love Gene Pitney and he passed away last year.......its like everything is ending.
It better start beginning again soon...its so depressing.

Morning all,
I have had a really rough day yesterday felt really rubbish,changed my microwave which is good.
Diet been really really good.
Steve,got me a present when he come home last nite a bottle of Chanel perfume i wanted.
So here goes another day,my dads last day at work.
