Half marathon training

Ooh don't write it down like that WelshTigger!!! It seems so close!

I've got the wrong iphone and can't run them both together. I think I shall using the Hal Higdon app and then if it doesn't work properly at least its only the shorter distances.

Oops sorry! Its not that bad! One of My best friends has come home for Christmas with his family and he's training for the Brighton marathon, so I've asked if he'll slow up a little and come with me a few times while he's home-which he says he will! X

I am a bit gutted, a friend decided to sign up for the Silverstone half with me. Thought it would be great to have that bit of extra support. Unfortunately she has now dropped out :-(

Still my cold has almost gone, so planning an 8 mile run 2moro. I am so looking forward to it.
I have set myself two challenges by the end of the year. Get to my goal weight and be able to run 10 miles!!!!!

No worries Shazzabir, you can join me and WelshTigger with virtual support. Did you get the Hal Higdon app? One assumes you must be starting your training this week too?

WelshTigger, what are you going to do on the cross training days?

I might have to vary it depending on work to be honest, I think it'll be 'long' run on Saturday for next week at least tho xx
 
I probably won't do any cross training as I cycle to and from work (only 2 miles each way!) most days plus walking the dog so I think that's sufficient!!
 
I managed an 8 mile run yesterday!! I am trying to get to 10 miles before the end of the year.
Was bit of a struggle, but did well considering I haven't run for nearly 3 weeks. My next long run will be Xmas eve and I'm aiming for 9 miles!! :)
 
I'm quite conscious of injury, so will be looking for signs that I'm pushing myself too fast. Thanks
It took me 1hr 15 mins. This was on a treadmill though.
 
I did my running yesterday, I have shunted it all forward by a day this week as it won't be very easy for me to run Sunday. Next week is jiggled round a bit too. My app seems to be playing up so I shall stick with using the Nike+ app. Good luck today those who are starting today :)

Well I'm meant to be doing mine today, but am still full of cold and struggling to breathe, so will have to see how it goes x

I failed-my head is banging :( gonna have to swap things around this week-fortunately tomorrow is only a 2miler so might do 3 tomorrow and then 2 on sat with my cross training x
 
Hope you feel better tomorrow WT. I'm not doing those two milers either as that is instead of cross training. I shall take my dog for longer walks in the New Year so that will be my cross training. Also I want to try and go swimming once a week.
 
Are you all doing ab strengthening?
I'm intending on starting sit ups in the new year on the days I don't run. It's meant to be good for running :) x
