Hi there!

Wishing there was some way to target losses. My arms, face, neck are now all fine and losing more from there risks starting to look haggard, but I still need to lose from my belly and thighs and get this waist size down

Had an odd weekend this weekend. Have been feeling quite dizzy and faint at times, even had an afternoon nap on sunday which i haven't needed since i started this diet. I've been sticking to SS 100% so its not carbs, however on checking my blood pressure it was down to 105/65 which is getting quite low. I'm now fairly convinced that my weight losss plus gym work increasing my fitness levels means that I should no longer be on blood pressure medication as it is taking it too low. I have an appointment with my doctor nest monday for a review so hopefully he will take me off the medication then.

Good call! What did your doctor say?

It's not until next monday that I will see him but I've decided to knock the gym work on the head until after i've seen the doc, just in case i have been overdoing it with so few calories going in.

I hate negativity. This diet has been achieving amazing things for me, I'm losing a ton of weight, feeling better, getting fitter, saving money, starting to look great... and now people start getting negative about it. "Oh you've lost enough now you need to stop", "You need to start eating now you've done this long enough" "You're going to start looking too skinny if you carry on". One friend this week warned me that this is exactly how anorexia starts! For heavens sakes... I'm over 17 stone with a 38 inch waist and a 48 inch chest with a BMI that still classes me as obese and people are talking about anorexia and being too skinny? What on earth is wrong with them?

Maybe its because they are the ones who have been closest to me so remember just how huge I have been for years, and so relative to their mental image of me I probabaly am skinny, but there isnt any stranger who would see me in the street and class me as anything other than a fat guy.

I think i'll give them the advice my mother always gave, "If you dont have anything good to say then say nothing"

Mikey - I know exactly what you mean. I told someone at work that I wanted to lose between 1.5 to 2 stones and everyone who heard said that I shouldn't as I would be too thin or look drawn. My bmi is about 29! I just wanted to ask why it was ok for them to be slim but that I would look awful! Fortunately my closest friends are supportive. Just ignore them. We all know that we are looking better now and are mature enough to know when to stop!

One of the many negative thIngs people say about this diet is that " as soon as you come off it you put all the weight back on and more". I've always told them that the only way you can put all the weight back on is to come off the diet and to go back to eating badly, but I see so many people on this forum who are returning to the diet after piling weight back on that it gets worrying sometimes. Even the people who originally put me In touch with Cambridge have recently returned to the diet after putting a lot of weight back on. Hell lets be honest, even my CDC whose "before and after" pics are on Cambridge web site no longer looks anything like the "after" pics and has gone back on the diet.

It highlights to me the need for a good maintenance plan, the need to have something in place to ensure that we don't get to our goal, breathe a huge sigh of relief and rush off to the KFC to celebrate! Other than the inevitable build up of glycogen and water at the end of the plan, there's no reason why someone should put weight back on.

I'd be interested in hearing from people who have reached goal and successfully maintained, but I suspect that those people would no longer be on this forum.

Are you ss 100% on the days you work out as well? If so, that may be the problem. I find I get quite dizzy on those days unless I have some extra protein (ie hard boiled egg, piece of chicken breast). At any rate, until you know for sure then taking a break might be for the best - you will still lose weight! :)

Still catching up as you can see. There are a few people who seem to keep it off, but I agree, there is a worrying number of people returning. However, when you read the news on weight issues, you find that it really is a battle for life and we've got to keep vigilant even after CD. Between 2000-2001 I lost 50lbs which was great, but put much of it back on by 2006. Good news is that I never got back to my top weight, bad news is that although I continued to work out, etc., I never really lost much either. What I discovered in looking over my workout diary is that there were a couple of periods where my weight started to creep up, and as I didn't have the tools or headset to deal with it, I stopped recording my weight instead! Result: when I next weighed myself months later, I was much heavier!

My learning from that and from reading the diaries of those who have returned is:
- CD isn't going to be the final solution
- do the steps! it'll teach me the impact of adding carbs, allow my body to adjust to more food, and give me a much better idea of how much food I'll need to maintain (vs just jumping in and eating anything I please)
- never stop weighing myself - what gets measured gets managed
- take steps when weight comes on - I'm thinking that if I see an increase of 5-10lbs, to immediately go back on a VLCD and get rid of it

One of the positives I am taking away from CD is I now have better tools to deal with weight if it comes back on and I have better control over my eating (I hope). Before when I lost weight it was primarily because I suddenly started exercising after years of being sedentary. It had great benefits, but my body got used to it...

I find it a bit depressing to realize I am never going to conclusively win this battle without remaining vigilant and ready to act for the rest of my life. However, I was always aware I had a weight and food problem...now I can do something about it

Hi Mikey. Not sure if you've already checked these out but there are posts in the CD Maintenance stream - gives you some idea of what working the steps is about and how people are doing on it. The sticky at the beginning is really good as well.

I'm smiling this morning. Bought myself yet another new suit yesterday, just a cheap thing from ASDA cos I cant afford to spend money on clothes right now with the rate at which they become too big for me. Put it on this nmorning and noticed how the pants sat very well on my waist, and they dont usually do that. then i realised that they dont usually do that because i dont remember the last time I had a discernable waist, and now here it is! :D

Weigh in night tonight :4633:

 Wow you are just disappearing like a snowball on a hot sidewalk! I'm soo jealous! Congratulations and well done!!!

As for your clothes...you seem to have a little thing for designer clothes...the ASDA brand must be a bit of a shock! Hope you're saving your pennies - you're going to have to get an entire new wardrobe from the skin out when you get to your goal, and with your penchant for designers, that's going to need a lot of savings! But boy will you be looking sharp!!! ;)
