Well chuffed

That's great, well done Mandy!!

One day I'll be there - Long Ashton is quite far from me and it's a well early start(!) but I'd love to give it a go. Looking at my training now I'll be doing it in about 33 minutes though. xx

Where abouts are you? There are park runs all over the country, maybe there's one closer to you. Plenty of people finishing around the 33 minute mark - think the last place finisher was about 38 mins.

Its a tough start as its uphill for the first half, but its an out and back course which means its downhill all the way for the second half which is lovely!

3 miles last Friday in the blazing heat! Quick 1 mile run downhill then walked back up the hill (it was a monster hill) Wednesday. Sunday did 6.25 miles in the pouring rain :)

Congrats on entering the bristol half marathon Mandy!! :D

Thanks Hannah, although probably best save the congratulations until I actually do it - its 11th Sep so I have a few months to build up my distances

Good work on the 6.25 mile run - thats a 10K right there - are you doing any races/charity runs at all? I'm doing the 10K race for life in July - I guess now its a bit of a training sesh for the half marathon. I've run 10K already so not too worried about that one, but the 13 miler is a bit more daunting...

Hard to believe I couldnt run at all in Feb - couch25K really does work!

Well done for signing up to that, and good luck with the training! A colleague at work is trying to get me to do a 10k run in Battersea Park which fills me with no small amount of trepidation.

C25K really does work though doesn't it. Amazing stuff!

Mandy I think I am doing the same race for life as you Bristol 10K??

Yes thats the one - did you post about this before?

I might have already known that, but would have been a while since I read your post so I probably forgot.

I ran 10K a few weeks ago - it included running UP Bridge Valley Road (ie from the portway up to the downs) so a couple of circuits of the downs shouldnt be too daunting.

Have you any idea of the route for the 10K? Doesnt seem to be any info on the website, or the runners pack

Yeah last year it was sort of two loops, you ran from the middle down ladies mile around circular road along the concrete, then parrallel to rockleaze and back along the same route, so back up ladies mile, then along the grass (outskirts of the park) near saville road, looped around 2 trees and back along same route, down to finish line.

It was a year ago though so please dont quote me!

Last year I trained for the 5k and did that in Bath, then 2 weeks later (after not a single run may I add lol) me and friend went along to the 10k to give support and went for a run around the park, we ended up joining in the race (didn't take medals etc) so I sort of did it by accident! But was so proud (did a walk 2 mins, run 8 mins most of the way round) that we finished it that I signed up for this year!

Cancer research made more money from it, as I told people Id ran double the amount so they had to double their contribution lol

2.2 miles for me, day 2 week 8 (28 mins) I am now completely disregarding the warm up/cool down walks in the mileage (I still do them though). So I now get a better idea of how the actual running is improving. The downside being initially I will cover less mileage. Ah well. :)

Well done all of you though. WG, come back to us!

Good skills on the donations!

Was worried that the route might be on the grass, but sounds like thats on the roads which is good, I dont like running on grass and it gets so bumpy up there with tree roots and the like. I take it they close off the roads then.

Really need to think about a proper training programme - at the moment I keep think, I'll just run a bit further at some point - but I havent made any actual plans to do that yet.

This weekend unlikely though - I'm doing the Bath Ales bike ride, which involves cycling along the Bristol-Bath railway path, a pitstop at the brewery in Warmley, then on to the Hop Pole in Bath - and back again!

Could really do with a second pitstop at the brewery on the way back but dont think thats on offer:(

Ahh I think I've misled you then, as some of it is on the road, but it is mostly grass I am afraid it just sort of follows the flow of the road!!

Running on grass does suck! But somehow on the day the whole run just feels easier!

Well done Pinkie! :)
