I think i'm happy with my weight now

Laura, I just feel that since his dead, the Atkins 'brand' has gone into selling products rather than a way of eating. It is, if you like 'less pure', so much so that his widow has disassociated herself and started her own website. The Veronica Atkins Foundation
I bought my paperbacked '72 book from Amazon for 99p. Perhaps it's that chance fact has made all the difference in the way I think of the diet. :D

Me too wrinkly, slightly more strict I think than later ones. :)

Mind you back in the day when I started there were no L/C products available so I had no choice. :)

well said laura and I agree with 100%

Yes I see your point Laura, No one writes a diet book without hoping to sell it and like everything else they evolve. I feel though that food from natural carbs are more true to the original than food that is manufactured. However, it's whatever works for each of us. :grouphugg:

Shall we shake hands & agree to disagree? ;)

Lol, I'm weak too, that's how I got in this state.. When I think of the money I have wasted on low fat 'slimming' products. Would you believe I am a gold card member of WW??!! If only I had bought the book years ago instead of reading & half believing the horror stories. Talk about living & learning... The irony is my food bill is less now that I no longer buy c**p!

I think Jim you've mentioned you were allowed an 'umlimited' amount of mushrooms but tomatoes weren't allowed. The new book limits the amount of mushrooms but does say you can have a couple of tomatoes.

Yes, the '72 version said mushrooms were a "Free" food, but tomato's were counted as a fruit.

This discussion has been very interesting.
