IF AT FIRST YOU DON'T SUCCEED, try try try again and again (and again...)

Enjoy the new trousers! And the new car, hopefully forgetful salesman won't have a flash of inspiration before tomorrow!!

As for sizing: I give up, I still have to try everything. Most of my 12s are falling down without a belt but some 10s are decidedly small in other dimensions including length. And dresses / tops need to be 14 in the shoulders... Maybe I should just cut out all labels and and write 'Anjas size'

I am also wearing three different sizes of trousers at the moment - although the biggest size I swear they are shrinking on the tumble drier every time they are washed, as other trousers that are a smaller size have long since been discarded as they are falling down.

Did anyone watch the final of the UK's Biggest Loser on Monday? I was getting a bit cheesed off with the program because they kept wittering on about sensible diet and exercise regimes (although their exercise regimes are extreme and surely no one could keep that up in the real world) and then in the breaks they advertise Biggest Loser shakes and meal replacement bars!

I was also cheesed off because DD and I were trying to guess the weight of the contestants before they were weighed and most of the women were at least a couple of stones heavier than me, yet they all looked an awful lot thinner to me :-( I just hope that they spent a lot of time dressing them to flatter their new figures. Good job I'm not bitter about it :)

LOL Mouse! No bitterness then!

LOL Mouse! No bitterness then!

Not much:D that bitter taste it what keeps me from the chocolate:17729:
- maybe it should be pushing me towards the sweet stuff!!

I think that I have made the startling discovery that I like losing weight more than I like chocolate!
I read about the yoyo woman - and she was never actually that big (I guess my idea of big would be some others' idea of huge)!!! I hate to think what my total would be!

I think its strange when you see what people look like at our weight or higher and how different they look from us. you are right someone at our weight could look 2 stone lighter or 2 stone heavier!

I think that realisation re preferring losing weight to eating chocolate [or whatever] is indeed very true... while in ketosis. Unfortunately, once out, the gloves are off :(

I'm always surprised also at how motivating a good weigh in is. ie, I lose weight, I want to lose even more weight. I have a bad weigh in, I can go the other way!

The rest of your post above is incomprehensible to me - who is this yoyo woman?!! (me???!!)

Oooh Vicky - yes the car will have the same name as our previous car (not the current one, the one before). "Le Bus", christened such when our insurance company insisted that it was categorised as a 7 seater (even though there weren't 7 seats unless you bought them), hence "un bus". As this next one is the new model of that one, she too will be a BUS... (pronounced BOOOSE.)

You are looking particularly svelte x

I was talking about the yoyo weight loss woman in Vicky's previous post from the DM, saying that she had lost and gained 17 stones in the last decade (although never actually that heavy by my standards!)

ah right... I wonder how many stone I've lost and regained over the years. Given that I started dieting aged about 13 for a (very lowly)modelling course when I was 10 stone...

oooh Le Booose :)
ive yo yoed for years. just want to keep it off this time.

For me

6 stones 1993
3 stones 1997
7 stones 2007
3 stones 2010/11

- and that's just the big losses, not the little ups and downs in between!

but this time its staying off Kim x

This time it is staying off because I want to have a tummy tuck when I have lost all the weight - I have never had a flat tum and if I had one I don't think I could bear to lose it! It is staying off us all this time!

- I think I just have to come to terms with having to watch what I eat forever really. No more baggy clothes, no more elasticated waists. I just love being thinner so much......even at my weight I feel relatively small now!!

I know exactly what you mean Mouse. As we get slimmer, on the way down, we feel GREAT at that weight. Unfortunately, as I went back up, I felt terrible at a weight I once felt great on.

Getting back to where I feel good again is such a relief!

But will either of those feelings stop me doing it again?

I'd like to see a photo of you with bigger hair... you know, before you do whatever you do to it to get it straight. I've a friend with LOVELY curls which no one ever sees. I bet you look good with curls too!

<says she with neither curly nor straight hair - the irritating sort which pokes out easily!>

OH Ive got one ill get it out and scan it was couple of years ago though x

I know what you mean Jo - both about sticky out hair, and about not doing it again. At the moment I just have to hold onto the desire to not put it all on again!! This community is far better than any slimming club (not that I have ever been brave enough to go to one!!) I just don't want to have to tell you all I have put it all on again. It's just nice to have people around to give me a kick up the bum when needed! - although it's strange the people that have disappeared over time - I think disappearing could be bad news ... what has happend to the likes of Cathy and Sean and .......loads of others...

In my (incredible alas) experience of dieting, and internet diet sites, such is usually the case.

I think the old timers are pretty honest here. Most of us aren't on our first try at the diet by any means, we know the pitfalls, but are still ready to give it our all. For some newbies that all might seem too contradictory, or strict, but we share our experiences and they have two choices. Believe us or not! Up to them!

Are there any noises ref street parties next month happening yet in your country?

Not heard anything around here - although I hear 'Party Pieces' (the Middleton fam business) is selling nodding union jack corgis :)

Hey it's quite nice hanging out in someone else's space making a mess for a change :)
