Ireland- bia- a bit of craic!

Thanks NewMe14, that is the great thing about this site, you come on here and there is always somebody else in the same boat as you and you get plenty of reassurance

:thankyou:

Hey Orla - are you on the Facebook page as well!?? The irish one??

I had a good weigh in tonight - 4.5 lbs off - by far my biggest loss since I started - including my first week - so I'm delighted. I set my self a mini target of 3lbs for this week.......(I think I might regret that!!!!)

Yes sus_murf, I'm on a few of them but I do post in Slimming Sisters Ireland as well as the swap recipe group (not as much though)

I'm a little quiet today as I was up half a pound and I know you will all reassure me about it not been much but it is all about timing. Next week I'm going into hospital for surgery and been a little vulnerable about it as it is to help with my fertility (sadly that didnt work for me this month either) I really wanted to either sts or lose but not gain and I was 100% on plan but I didnt get as much walking as I normally do, putting it down to that

Sorry to hear all of that Orla. How long will you be in hospital? I really truly hope it does the job for you, and gets you a step closer to your baby.

You're right about timing- some weeks a half pound wouldn't knock any of us, other weeks it's like the weight of the world. So much of life is tied into our weight and mood.

Hi Orla, sorry to hear that I know it's only half a pound but when you are feeling vulnerable it can feel like a lot more. I hope things go well for you at hospital next week.

Hi all,

Well I lost 1.5pounds this week I could have swore it was 2 on scales but I'm sure the girls weighing in are right! I also got slimmer of the month and a nice shiny sticker for my collection!

Well done NewMe14, that is fantastic, I bet the consultant is starting to ask you what your doing, the love to hear a real success especially now your staying for image therapy as well yayyyy

Thanks for the wishes, hopefully all will go well for me next week

I have a question. How do you stay motivated when the programme isn't working? I stayed on plan, I am in the gym, I'm walking 4k a day. I'm not drinking alcohol. No treats. I went for coffee today with friends and while the others had scones and lattes, I had sparkling water. I may as we'll have stuffed my face.
I am so disheartened and don't know whether to just stop and try lipotrim or stay one final week. I need to see results, I'm not getting results. What would youse do?

It's hard when that happens, but don't look at your results as a week by week, but try to take it a month at a time.
I can't see your stats as I am on the phone, but are you a new member? Sometimes it takes an extra week for the results to show and if you get demotivated and say stuff it, you will never see results.
Have you just started going to the gym and walking? The first 4 weeks or so of exercise, your body will retain much more water than otherwise to protect it. After these 4 weeks, the results can be incredible, so it is worth persevering.
Not to overshare, but before my time of the month, I always weigh more than after, so that might be a consideration for you?
The best advice I can give you is to keep going and doing what you're doing, maybe keep a diary just in case something you are eating is a higher syn value than you think. Keep at the exercise because it has so many benefits. Take your measurements so that even if there is no change on the scales, you might see results in them.
As far as lipotrim is concerned, while the results are pretty much instant, if you have much weight to lose, it's not great. I did one week on it and lost 12lb, but it was the most miserable, emotionally draining week of my life. I cried so much and couldn't keep it up for any longer, and I think I probably ate more the week after than I had in the previous 3 weeks. I know it is fantastic for big losses in a short timespan and some people can keep on it for longer periods, but to me, it promotes a poor relationship with food, and doesn't teach people how to make better choices. In my opinion, the best use for lipotrim is as a crash diet for before a holiday, big party/wedding, or surgery (as I believe it was originally designed).
Hope this helps, and you get the results you are after xxx

Thank you. This is my 4 week. I had a loss, a maintain, a loss and now a maintain. 4.5lbs in total. Which is 1lb a week on average which written like that seems ok. Maybe I expect more dramatic results and maybe I'm unrealistic. I walk all the time so it's not a new thing but the gym is. I hear people at weigh in say they've taken it easy and ate naughty stuff and they still manage to loose... Which is hard when you do behave and want to drop.

I totally agree with you about lipotrim. I wouldn't do that to myself. My plan was 14lbs in 10 weeks which seems/seemed reasonable at the time.

Is it ok if I shorten you to LSP?? I'm to tired for the whole thing!!

I've a few suggestions - is it possible that something you are eating is holding it up? You could experiment with changing things up - my consultant said that she used have Weetabix for breakfast every morning and it wasn't until she was challenged to try a different hex b that she realised that it was causing her a problem, she started to lose weight as soon as she cut it out.

I found that my losses are always slower on extra easy - I always lose better on red days - might be worth a look?

Also might be worth getting someone to look at your food diary just in case there's something you're missing......

Have to say I agree with these two ladies, one thing though I have to say is we have a chef in group and he always says you have to use some of your syns every day and I think he is read because mentally we think we are totally depriving ourselves of any treat. One other question is, do you think your doing too much exercise, the rule of thumb with food and exercise is food 80% exercise 20% so food is far more important.

The idea about the diary is so important too, do you use 1/3 of your plate/meal as superfree, that is the key and my consultant is going blue in the face quoting Pages 10-12 of our book in which our weight is recorded each week, I try and do it for every meal and if I do then I do notice a good result on the scales.

By the way, google images and type the word what does 4.5Ibs of fat look like, it is quite disgusting and definitely not going back on you my dear and one final point, you haven't gained at all so well done

One last thing ;) don't listen to other people brag about how naughty they've been. Their loss might have been fluid, a carry over from the week before, or just a different metabolism to yours. I know it's very disheartening but you're doing great, 1lb a week is almost 2 stone in a year ;) Your body is different and maybe you will never lose 4lb in a week, but by the same estimation, you might not gain as quickly either. And as Orla said, take a look at 4.5lb (maybe even in the shops, pick up the equivalent in butter), and give yourself a pat on the back for shifting that ;)

I've been looking over my stats for this year, and I've averaged out at a 4.5 lb loss in 3 months! It's not great, but I've got to accept that there are weeks I won't be 100% on plan (or even 75%!), and that in general my weight and health are improving. The slow losses are disheartening, but I like to think of it the other way- if I hadn't started doing something about my weight last Aug, I'd possibly have put on another stone. So, I'd have been 3 stone heavier than I am today. And the time is going to pass anyway- so if it takes a year for me to lose the weight that it might take someone else 6 months, what odds really? That year is going to go by either way, and I'm better off for it.

That being said, if you're new to the plan and not familiar with it, I'd really echo what the others have said and make sure you do a food diary. I did SW a few years ago when it was new to Ireland and didn't get anywhere with it- it was only after I realised I had misunderstood free food, I thought as long as it was free I was following plan. Superfree either wasn't explained properly, or I just didn't get it (I was distracted by the mound of pasta!), so I wasn't following the 1/3 SF rule. At all. I was just eating man-sized plates of carbs and meat

Have you a diary on here? I have mine and add to it most days. The days that I consciously add to it are the days that I stick best to plan.

Thanks for all your input. Yes, I've just discovered that porridge isn't free, and I'd been eating small bowls during the week at breakfast believing it was a free food. Think this could be a part of the problem. Maybe I need to be drilled in free and super free food in case I am doing it wrong.
I've been putting myself under pressure, but I know it will take time. Took 3 years to put on 2.5 stone. It can't shift overnight.
i might put up my diary.

You can have 35g porridge as your HEX B, but if you've been counting it as free and having another HEX B (e.g. wholemeal bread), that could definitely be slowing down your losses.

It takes a while to get it into your head. Even today, I've discovered my "free" bacon probably hasn't been so free!

I found I fully didn't understand the plan for the first week or two and you know what it is no harm to read back over your book. I read mine at least once a week just to keep everything fresh in my head! I only just realised that parsnips are not Superfree there just free!
