It's Now Or Never

Well, I put on a lb. Bit annoyed but half expected it tbh. Just had tea now, followed by a consolation Sainsbury's choc ice cream (14 syns). Previously, I had a very clear 4 week cycle, and this will be week 4, which always showed tiny losses. So, hopefully, provided I'm good, and with the help of C25K runs, I am aiming for 4lbs next week. I should also be back at my usual lunchtime class.

So long as the BBQ was worth it ;) You have had a very sensible approach to your icecream, to know its syn value and plan how to incorporate it into your overall weekly plan. 4lbs for next week? Why not, I'll try for that too.

Thanks Micci. I haven't had any other syns today so I haven't broken anything. Am going for my second C25K run after the boy's cricket is finished too, so that will help. To be honest, I feel a bit bunged up atm. If I'd stuck to Tues lunchtime WI I probably would have just scraped a STS.
Just checked and I can't actually make Tues lunchtime as I'm in London that day. But I believe there is a Weds lunch class near my work, so I shall head there instead.

LOL at you both re mice.
Having lived in the country where they are endemic (along with bleddy rats), I'm sorry I view them as vermin and just get rid of them.
Don't even worry about nusing mums as that gets rid of a few more and stops the population growing.

And yes if you do humane trap them you need to move them at least a mile or else they will be back.
My friend C caught about a dozen and drove them to the edge of the wood only about 1/4 mile away.
She set them free and watched them run off - straight back in the direction of her house.
All of them were back within 2 hours :8855:

Don't get me wrong - I actually like mice. Had a friend who kept them and rats and they are beautiful, characterful animals.
But a pest and can be a nuisance if, as you say, they do get in the house.
They ate throught C's washer and dishwasher power leads and caused her d/w to blow up!

Mice are endemic here, although I live in crowded East London it is a strangely quiet little backwater with a field in front of me, and a field behind me with a busy A road with wilderness embankments a couple of houses down, the embankments provide a link between the fields for wild life.

However, all though I agree that they are a pest in the house and regarding stored grains etc, I still don't want to make them suffer whilst I remove them. What we need is an oral contraceptive that could be mixed in with their feed. Hey presto, the population dwindles.

Anyway, how was the day off with the bairn?

That is exactly what I want Micci, like we do with dog fleas.

Day off a bit rubbish. We ended up doing pretty much nothing except buy birthday pressies for my nephew and cricket in the evening. Not good. I really need to sort my Mummy groove out. Trouble is, he's in teenage layabout mode and then I can't be bothered as I'm knackered. I used to be so good and now I'm crap. Saturday, assuming it's not peeing down, we will do athletics in the morning, then head off to Brands Hatch. I have a free pass to get in there and they have their historic races and an Aston Martin exhib on. So we ARE going to do that!

I went for my second run last night, foot still held up very well. It felt a bit sore a couple of times today, but no more than usual. My next run isn't until Thursday evening, so it can have rest till then.

Hd a good coach day today, albeit I got the earlier 06:19, which got me into work at 08:25. Got the 17:02 home and was indoors by 18:45, so pretty pleased with that.

Food has been terrible - dayafterweighinitis has struck again!! That's why I put on the sodding pound. It just doesn't come off as easily now I'm that bit older, my body is less forgiving of any little faux pas. So a line under that and back to my aim for a big loss next week. :)

Phew, that's still a VERY long day. Know what you mean about persuading youngsters to do things once they get to teenage years! When they are little they get sort of swept along in our enthusiasm a lot of the time but when they ge to be teenages it's a bit different. My boy is now taller and stronger than me, The last time we arm wrestled it was inconclusive as I had tennis elbow and yelped with pain and gave up but I know and he knows that he would have won.

Your running sounds great. Good for you.

And ..... here's your line, I've helped you draw it ;)

From now on, sticking to plan for Pinkie.

Hi all,

well I got to weigh in today at work, and had lost 2lbs. So 12lbs in total. Not the 4lbs I'd aimed for, but I think 2lbs is pretty good all considered.

Have a couple of challenges this weekend. Though I'm hoping both will be fine food wise, it'll just be alcofrol that gets me.

Went to see physio today. Some tightness around the tendon muscles in my calf and ankle but otherwise all good. She thinks that is mostly about good support for my arch now. So I'm going to try my moulded insole I got in different shoes (esp my walking shoes) and see if that helps. She has also given me some stability exercises to do and I want to start Pilates at work as well.

Anyhoo, today is also the buns birthday. They have enjoyed their pressies and treats and I got up extra early so they could have a bit longer in the garden this morning. Am pooped now! Still, gotta keep going as will have a run when I get in.

So I got home this evening to find bunny diarrhoea all over the kitchen. It would be a lot by human standards, but for a bunny!!! It turned out to be the boy and after bathing him, cleaning the floor etc etc I watched him for an hour or so and he just wasn't eating nor his normal self. The things with rabbits, is that they are not particularly robust, and diarrhoea can kill them in as little as 12 hours. So seeing that he wasn't eating etc (not good for rabbits, it causes stasis which again can kill them) up to the emergency vets we went. He's being kept in over night, so by the morning I should know how he's getting on. He got quite lively there when the vet was inspecting him - probably because his poor tummy is in so much pain. Apparently stasis was already setting in, so I know I did the right thing taking him up, however dramatic it all sounds. Beans is upset and now asleep in my bed, and the girl bunny doesn't know where her little brother is. Bit of a **** birthday really!

Oh no! Get well wishes to boy bun - what a birthday! And congrats on 2lbs, good going even if it wasn't as much as you had hoped for.

Thanks girls. Not much better apparently, but a little stronger. Not eating though and consequently nothing coming out the other end. Poor boy. He's being taken to our vets this morning (in the pet ambulance lol) so will speak to my vet later this afternoon. Just glad I'm homeworking today.

Hiya, Billy still at the vets, but our own one now, who is a specialist in exotics (which for veterinary purposes buns are classed as). Things still aren't moving but he's on meds, painkillers etc and has apparently even nibbled a bit of kale by himself, plus they are syringe feeding him. They said he appears to be comfortable though. They just need to get that gut working by tonight really. Rosie is definitely missing him and keeps hiding away (but also when encouraged will come and bounce around too, so not too bad at all). I bet he is missing her too. Though probably enjoying not being bossed around quite a bit.

I had the rat man from the council come over yesterday to check out the mouse situation and get advice. He was a bit surprised that I didn't want to lay poison (I guess that's why most people call them) but had a good look around and put my mind at ease that it was probably just a wee (or bloody huge actually) mouse just checking out the situation. We put bricks over the two holes so that the mouse would be forced to dig another if he came in again. The point of which just being to get an idea of he were a regular visitor. He said he couldn't see evidence that he's been at the composter, but for now I'm going to put all my compost food waste in the council bin, and just use mine for non mouse attractive materials. The slugs in there will no doubt be mightily pissed off. He also said my garden wouldn't be particularly attractive to a mouse as it is quite open, with no obvious hiding placed for them. This is partly thanks to the buns who have eaten everything in their reach. :)

Back to food, was a bit naughty yesterday though didn't eat lots. Guzzled so much water - it was too hot for me. I have a BBQ tonight. Food will be on plan, the vodka and cranberry juice (which I'll dilute with sparkling water) won't be. But other than my morning yoghurt (3 syns) I will keep the rest of the day syn free.

Got so much to do today. Walking dog and kids to school for my friend, visiting my neighbour who's husband died a few weeks ago, visiting my friends Mum who is undergoing chemo for ovarian cancer, need to clean the house, go for a run, do a weeks worth of ironing and prepare food for tonight. Well, the salad needs preparing and the BBQ cleaning. This is how I spend my days off work lol

((( Hugs ))) Pinkie - it's alwasy devastating when we lose a pet.
Why do we get so attached to them.

Aww Pinkie, I'm so sorry, poor Billy. Hope you and Bean are ok and his sister isn't too lonely xxx

Poor Billy. what sad news. Did the vet have any idea what it might have been? I hope it wasn't an infectious disease that his sister is at risk of going down with. Hugs to you all.

Thanks girls. The vet is doing a little post mortem tonight to see if he can find what caused it. He seems to be thinking maybe a heart attack, I guess brought on by the stress of it all. That makes me feel worse in some ways as I feel that he felt all alone and missed Rosie so much. The vet didn't think that was a factor, but hopefully I'll find out later. She seems fine in that she's eating and pooping normally (though there were a couple of caecals I noticed earlier. But that isn't overly unusual with her. She is very quiet, although she has perked up a bit now it's cooled off.

It's not something I really want to rush into, but I do have to consider a little companion for her. It's not so bad when we're around in the daytime, but three days a week I'm at work and she'll be alone a lot. I have already arranged for the bunny sitter to come in all three days which will help, and they rest a lot during the day too. But ideally she needs another little friend. It feels horrible thinking like that when he's not been gone 24 hours, but I have to look after her too. So will contact a rescue in the morning and see what they think is best.

Thank you all for your lovely messages though. I haven't stopped crying all day really.
