Izzyhew's dizzy start to diet......

well today I had a lie in :D I only have one about once a month as hubby works different hours all the time so pretty much every morning it's me who gets up with the kids, not that I mind he does plenty for us, but when I ask for a lie in we plan it for one of his days off. So I stayed in bed until 1100! It was lovely, I kept waking up and dozing off again and having odd dreams but it was nice to just chill. So it was too late to bother with breakfast....

I had banana and raisins on toast, (HE plus 1 syn) a few strawberries and a pear through the afternoon, planning cottage pie tonight and will use HE cheese with that. I have also eaten 3x go ahead crispy apple slices, and 3x cheese thin crackers.... 12 syns between them! and then I nipped to the shop because I needed a new pack of sweetners for my cups of tea. I really wanted to buy some chocolate and very nearly caved but I bought a pack of oranges instead, not had them for ages and had one just now and really enjoyed it :) so feeling happy that I did that, chocolate craving has passed too. I might plan some in for tomorrow just because I can.

My back is still crappy, I feel old lol, but it is marginally better than yesterday so fingers crossed it will pass. I am ok once up or down, but the first moments following standing up or sitting down really hurts!

Just thought i'd say hi as we have very much in common!

I have 7mnth old boy
My starting weight was 13st 5lb
and i decided last week to join SW!

So here i am...

How are you finding it so far?

Hi Queenie, yes it seems we have much in common! What will your target be?

I am really enjoying it at the moment, I have found that I actually 'food optimise' already quite naturally as I cook most of our stuff and don't use a lot of fat etc. It's all the other stuff I need to make sure I don't eat, as well as being more organised because previously on a busy night I would have opted for pizza or a takeaway without thinking of the consequences.

Have you had a good rummage on the slimming world website? there are loads of recipes, I have tried a couple and will try more. I love the freedom of this plan and I am just hoping it keeps working for me, as I know my wonky ovaries can make it so slow at times.

when is your weigh in? Good luck xx

In an ideal world i think 2.5st, but as i seem to of been over 12st for the last 10 years i may decide i look ok at 11st... i think i'm just going to see how i go.

What about you have you a goal weight in mind?

To be honest i haven't had a good look through as of yet, i wanted to just let me get to grips with the plan with easy ish stuff and so far it seems to be really good i defo want to find a good curry recipe.

One of the reasons i wanted to try SW was because i don't cook properly half as much as i should and because S is now at that weaning age i thought all round the family will be eating properly and proper meals... i have a fussy husband who is very much meat and potato so i think its not far off the mark with this plan really but throw in aload of veg for me and the boys.

I'm due back to work 1st of july so i'm hoping by then i'll be organised and this will be 2nd nature...

Sorry to hear your back is still giving you problems, fingers crossed it will pass soon. Well done for passing on the chocolate and going for the oranges instead!! x

my weigh day is wednesday :) Good luck for Monday!

My target is 9st, which at my height of a measly 5ft is only just healthy. I like the saying that I am not overweight just undertall lol.

I agree with the kids and meals I think it's valuable to start them young on a good range of food. Hopefully you can get some good habits for July, there are lots of ideas for lunches on the website and most of the recipes are fairly easy too.

Thanks Bev, I was really pleased I didn't cave to the chocolate!

sooo today I think I might have fruit for breakfast, hubby will be off to work by around 1030, so as soon as the baby allows after that I will be doing my couch to 5k session, then a lunch of either syn free chips or bacon and egg I haven't decided yet.... or a bit of both with tomatoes and peppers and onions for my superfree. Dinner I don't know yet I think I am giving the family sausages, but they are not sw friendly ones so I might have a baked potato.

Back still not right but seems a bit better than yesterday so far, so fingers crossed.

Glad your feeling weel enough to go for the C25K again. I'm still not brave enough to try it yet but I'll keep up with your progress and hopefully I'll be inspired! x

I'm not sure I'd do it if I didn't have a treadmill, there is no way I could run outside lol. I am also thinking it will take me longer than 8 weeks to build up, the secret for me though so far is not to push to jog too quickly, I jog slowly, but obviously faster than walking so I hope to build on it. Week 2 involves 6 x 90 second stints of jogging, which is ok I am managing that (just), but week 3 seems to take too big a jump for my liking, it has 90 sec jog +90 sec walk +3 min jog +3 min walk (then repeat). I am not at all sure I can manage three minutes! I will try though and perhaps have a week of 2 mins, then 2.5 mins to get there. It's not a race after all I can take it at my pace. Time will tell if I have the will power to see it through!

I think I might make today a green day! had my fruit for breakie, and my chips for lunch with HE bread.

Green days are great, remember you get 2xHexs! :) I thiink the running outside puts me off too but I joined the gym last night so maybe I can do it there... The only problem I have though is that I don't have great balance on a treadmill for some reason, I have to hold on to the sides! Maybe it'll be easier once I get used to it. I quite enjoyed the bike though so I'll probably just go with that for the time being. There are a few threads on here about the C25K, it might be worth a look so you can see how other people got on with it. I can see what you mean about the big jump in week 3, I'm sure you'll get there though, even if you have to do it over 2 weeks to build up.

I will have a rummage for those threads, I did post on the slimming world 'of topic' board, but no one replied, I didn't think to look elsewhere on the site. I think it could take more than 2 weeks for me to build up to 3 minutes, I am ridiculously unfit!

I hope the gym works out for you, I think it doesn't really matter what form of exercise you do, as long as you are trying so if you prefer the bike or rowing machine or whatever just go for that! I am treadmilling because we have one at home so it's easy :)

Definitely going to make today a green day, I can't decide wether to make a quorn chilli, or try a veggie curry using the mushy pea recipe.

I bought chocolate earlier, but I am pleased with myself as it was all planned out. I looked at the syns before I left, and only bought what I planned. I have decided from this day forth, Friday will be choccie day!

my cheeky midweek weigh is showing just under half a pound, which is better than nothing but I always find it a little depressing just how slowly I lose weight no matter how much I stick to every diet. I am still motivated to carry on and I know slow and steady is often the best way, a pound a week is still 52/yr, but that means I have over a year to go at that rate, as well as 13 weeks away from cracking into the 11's. Anyway I just need to keep thinking that this is still the best thing to do. If I carry on, then in 3 month's I will be in the 11's, and in a year almost at my target. If I give up in 3 months I will likely be the same/heavier as I am now, and the same in a year. I also need to remind myself that with my polycistic ovaries/insulin resistance, the time will come if I keep going where it may speed up a little.

I am also wondering if I should be careful about green days, as they can be quite carb rich days for me and insulin inducing, perhaps trying a few original days would be more suited to the way my body works.

if this makes no sense to any reader feel free to skip over, I only know this stuff after years of reading about the subject, but knowing it doesn't make it any easier to sort out lol.

My daughter had a friend for a sleep over last night so I wondered what sort of night it would be, but to be fair to them at age 8 and 9, I let them stay up late till 2130, lights out, and I don't expect they went straight to sleep but they were quiet and stayed in bed, can't ask for better from them. My little boy is a great sleeper too he usually sleeps all night for 12 hours we are very lucky!

Today I am planning on using my breadmaker to make wholemeal rolls(buns/baps/whatever you call them) I already make our own wholemeal bread, one of the reasons being I can use less sugar and salt, I use half what the recipe asks for, and it turns out fine, I slice it quite thin and syn or HE it the same as a small loaf. My reasoning being that manufactured loaves have more salt and sugar added so mine can't be any worse syn wise. So I want to try to make the rolls, and if they work out I might have a stab at making burgers tomorrow!

friday has evolved as choccie day, so I am thinking Sunday can be 'fake-away' day :)

Haven't eaten anything yet, I might have a piece of fruit, and then later have a brunch with bacon/egg/toast etc. Chicken for tea but haven't decided what to do with it yet, I enjoyed the sticky chicken but I have ran out of soy sauce so it's off the menu until Tuesday when hubby picks up some shopping.

Girls are playing in the garden, it's a lovely day here, so might get out a walk this afternoon, and planning my couch to 5k this evening, always seems harder in the evening but that's when I can fit it in so it will have to do! It's the last session of week two  first time I have made it this far!

Isn't it disheartening when you have a peep and you've worked hard and its only a small amount?
I'm such a want results quick girl too but your totally right slow and steady wins the race!

I've just been sticking to the EE and it seems to be going ok so far although we generally have a chinese on a saturday night, i'm still going to have one i think as i've been extra good but i may have to chop and change what i'm going to have but i generally share mine with Charlie anyway...

We've been up early and straight out to sainsburys so we're well stocked up... hubby has plans for a garden tidy up today so going to be a busy one...

Like you i've not had anything to eat yet so may well do something sw friendly breakfast although i wanted to go easy because of the chinese tonight :0/

Enjoy your run and your weekend - my hubby is a runner so we're out most weekends at races he's doing our local 10k tomorrow.

Do you run Queenie?

I haven't paid enough attention to give you tips, but I think there is some info on the best take away choices on the sw website.

Tomato based sauces in general I think are safer, and steamed rice, enjoy :)

I have taken a deep breath.... and uploaded my 'fat' pics.

I had to rake through my files to find any as I am good at hiding from the camera. I'm pretty sure this was me at my biggest, and I hate these photos :sad0071:

On a positive note though, I am over a stone less than I was here.

and here is one from my wedding last year, I had lost a bit more weight earlier in the year (I was down to 12st 4) However I was 6 months pregnant in this pic so in real terms I have no idea what I weighed lol, but I did feel massive.

my homemade rolls turned out ok, a bit flatter than the supermarket variety, my daughter has demolished one alongside her tea, and I have munched 2! However it's all accounted for with HE's and syns so all ok, but no more syns left today as I also had a solero at 4.5 syns on a day like this it was syns well spent!

Just getting ready for my last session of week 2 couch to 5k, hoping it goes ok as I thought my back was better - it was certainly much improved but omg the pain I ended up in earlier bathing my little boy! it's eased a bit again but I am worried incase anything sets it off!

I made it, but as usual I found it even harder in the evening that during the day, but unfortunately if I want to continue keeping it a secret I will have to keep doing it in the evenings when I can't fit it in otherwise. I have been looking at hubby's shifts for next week and I think I can fit in tues and weds daytime, but sat evening, and I am definitely thinking I can't make the jump to week three! but I can do more than week 2, so I will do the 90 second jog, the 90 second walk, then when I am supposed to jog 3 mins I will just do as much as I can but aiming for at least 2 mins, and take it from there.:whacky068:

Off to have some chicken and veg and a drink and a shower!

Good morning Sunday miniminsers!

back still hurts, starting to get really annoyed by it as I am not usually prone to back pain, hip and knee pain yes but not back :( Doesn't help that hubby has to be at work so can't take over the baby lifting etc.

ah well....

Plans for today I have just had a pear and HE toast and butter (2 syn) for breakfast, I have a left over chicken breast from yesterday that I will have for lunch, might try the mushy pea curry sauce, and I am going to attempt home made burgers for tea, planning an original day as I think I have been having too many carbs, so might pop to the shops shortly and pick up some parsnips as I quite like parsnip chips.

I might go slightly insane today as my daughter is grounded for a week after some misbehaviour yesterday, sadly in these circumstances it is the parent who suffers most lol . What I think we will do is chill for a bit, mornings seem to revolve around my son, he is napping then it will be breakfast, milk and a bit more food then lunch, we will head out for a walk this afternoon (strangely my back is still fine walking) and nip into the shops on the way home for the parsnips.

I forgot to say my daughter and me made free ice lollys yesterday with ice lolly moulds and free squash. We are experimenting with different flavours, we have a pear and apple flavour juice and I was wondering about adding chunks of real pear to the mix. we will see.

Good Sunday morning Izzy. My worst day. I am diabetic on tablets. I used to do green and red days all the time and found them very good. Am doing extra easy at the moment & find it leads me to eat more but find it hard to get back on red & green because have eaten before I decide. I put my food diaries every day on this site sometime planning some times as I have the food. I have been struggling for some time as you will see if you look at my thread. I am pretty good on theory but find it harderto put into practice. I think I have to do more exercise. Walking is best for me - hips & knees hurt a bit. Comes with age unfortunately but thlosing of weight should help.
Have a peek at some of the diary threads, although there do not seem to be too many doing red and green at the moment.
Goodluck with your journey.
