Jaly's SF Maintenance Diary!

Hey Libby, just catching up as I have been a bit AWOL for the last couple of days.

Sorry you feel you have taken a step back with the tracking everything. You HAVE done exceptionally well to get where you are with your eating, your diary always looks really well balanced and healthy so I think you have learnt good natural instincts with food choices. I guess its just learning to trust them. Its not the same at all as I still have a long way to go with my weight loss but I do feel very "trapped" by my mind set about food and needing to know how many calories/ points are in things all the time. When I stop and think about it it just seems somehow unnatural :/ SF seems to be working well for you so think its a sensible plan to stick with that as it is a slightly more relaxed way of eating which hopefully will be the "half way house" for you before being able to give up tracking all together.

Hope rehearsals aren't too bad and the thought of your grandad's roast dinner keeps you going. I did performing arts at school and our drama teacher was a complete slave driver. Great feeling doing the performances though :)

Hi Libby, I hope the rehearsals are going well and it hasn't taken too much out of you xx

TMI alert: heavy periods run in the family and I've got just about the worst of it atm! Not just the cramps but excessive bleeding and the doctors say it's hereditary and there's nothing they can do to help - just take painkillers. :(

It may be hereditary hun, but there are *sometimes* things they can do about it. My doctors fobbed me off like that for years, before I put my parts on and finally got referred to a specialist. Have they checked you out for fibroids, endometriosis, adenomysis, cysts etc? On the other hand, I can quite understand if you feel you just want to get through each month as best you can, and try to forget about it all inbetween, without being pulled around by doctors, as I've been there too. Sending you loads of hugs. xxxxx

I agree totally with MWs advice. Seems quite a ridiculous thing to say it's just hereditary, especially as there are soo many other things that it could be and without putting you in for some sort of tests. Trouble is too many docs take it upon themselves to pronounce things when they do not have qualifications and specialise in a particular field. You are so young to be having to just put up with that sort of discomfort. Do go back and be firm about stating that you want to have further investigations done..you are quite within your rights to do so.
Hope you soon feel better and pain eases... (((Hugs)))

Hey Atomic, thanks for popping in :)

I think I know enough about nutrition to be able to make good choices but learning to trust them is the difficult part! SF without logging/pointing at all is the way forward I think!

The rehearsals were awful! I mean, incredibly boring and I didn't take off my coat, the studio is in a warehouse and the heating was broken and the door didn't close properly so there was a draft and I was absolutely freezing for 6 hours! Quite nervous about the performance tbh, considering I have quite a lot of dancing to do and I'm rubbish at remembering steps!

Thank you MW xx Well, they haven't checked me out for anything but I have a bit of a fear of doctors in general so I try and stay away as much as I can, lol ;x Gotta go and have a blood test soon anyway so I'll mention it again then.

New week, fresh start with no cal/point counting! Plan is to have this week as my weaning off week despite the fact I have a wedding to attend on Tues and then hopefully stop tracking altogether next week!

Breakfast: Apple, 2 Weetabix, SS milk
Morning: Fat-free strawberry yog
Lunch: 1/2 tin tomato + basil soup, 1 thick slice seeded bread, pear
Dinner: Macaroni cheese with salmon, peas, sweetcorn, carrots and green beans, topped with breadcrumbs!
Dessert: Iced mango smoothie lolly
Drinks: Diet coke, sugar-free cream soda

Well done, you can do it :)
Difficult it may be, but you are making a step in the right direction. You already know what healthy eating is, just try and relax a bit more and there's no more pressure of keeping tabs on what you have eaten.
Try and focus your energies into other things, the eating will fall into place. Good luck on your first day of your new journey. Big hugs ((())) xxx

Chillax?! Pffft! :) I spent the afternoon making banoffee pie, cheese scones and coconut macaroons! All of which have had good feedback, not tried any yet myself though!

And now I'm making top trump cards of the wedding guests so the kids have something to do while they're waiting for their meals tomorrow :p

All sounds great fun!!
Have a little slice of Banoffee pie treat yourself.
Hope all is ok I think you are doing the right thing trying to just do SF you have become naturally healthy so the choices you make will always be right you don't need to be worrying about the calories in it and a treat now and again is also needed. Don't be affraid to allow yourself the odd treat it really won't undo your hard work or cause you to gain weight.
Big hugs xx

Thank you Nessa! :) I was debating not having the macaroni cheese and just having salmon with pasta and ex. light philly but I did have the cheese pasta/salmon bake and so glad I did, it was lush! Topped with breadcrumbs, mmm!

Not too keen on banoffee pie anyway if I'm honest - had a mango smoothie ice lolly instead though :) - decided I'm not gonna bother with the weekly counting of SF but just track my food as a journal for now xx

Dinner sounds great glad you enjoyed it, mango Lolly sounds good too I love anything mango! It's my favourite fruit.

That's cool about just doing a journal I'm sure you will do fab you are way more in control than you realise and I'm mega proud of how well you are doing. Xx

It was :)

Today's my uncle's wedding, I'm just having a children's meal to save on money (child's meal is £7.50, adult's is £23, so :p) no doubt some cake/sweets will be eaten during the course of the day though. They're having a private ceremony with just witnesses in a registry office and celebrating with a meal at a hotel afterwards as my uncle doesn't want it to be a 'big deal' :)

Breakfast: 1 weetabix + SS milk, yoghurt
Morning: Apple, pear
