Jess's Diary - Weighed in a day early..

In an effort to keep my "waste less food and money" and I suppose my be greener resolution as waste isn't very environment-friendly I'm going to make jerk sweet potatoes again before my low fat sour cream goes off and goes to waste. I had them at the weekend from my trusty old (2002 old!) WW recipe book and they were so yum. Cut a medium sweet potato in half, slash criss crosses across the cut half, spray with low cal spray, season and bung in the oven for 40 minutes (gas mark 6/200). Heat 1 teaspoon of oil, 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 tablespoon of jerk seasoning and juice of one lime in a saucepan while mixing together and brush onto the sweet potatoes after the 40 minutes and cook for another 10 minutes. That's 2.5 points if the sweet potato is 2 points and you put the dressing on 4 potatoes. I put a tablespoon of low fat sour cream on (0.5) and it was righteous. It had quite a kick to it but the sour cream cooled it down nicely.

I don't know what to have with it tomorrow though, any ideas? I had BBQ chicken legs and coleslaw last time but fancy a different "main".

Also going to have a nice simple lunch of beans on toast with some bad ass thick(ish) crusty bread.

Loving the sound of the recipes - particularly jealous of the cheesecake - I've been wanting to make some for ages but we haven't have plain soft cheese here for ages, we've only had the flavoured ones and somehow I don't think it would taste quite right if I used the chives and spring onion version!

How about salad & tuna or prawns

I really don't like lettuce. I've tried so many times to like it by just eating it and it's not disgusting but I just feel like I'm eating a plant. I make salads with tomatoes, peppers, feta cheese, eggs, onions and croutons. The other thing I hate is shellfish like prawns (especially the tiny frozen ones.. I quite like the meat of big prawns but don't really know how to get it out) and mussels. Love scallops though and I like fish! I sound like a fussy moo now but I like all vegetables except button mushrooms (slimey) and most fruit. I think it's just those 3 things.. lettuce, some shellfish and slimey mushroom!

I never think to buy fish. Now you mention it I think I'll have a tuna steak for dinner soon. Hmm, what to have with it? lol

Yaaay, hi IB :) Nice to see you around again. I feel so sorry for you not being able to get certain foods. It would give me insane cravings! It's got to be good for dieting though! You could have a savoury cheesecake? Not the same though!


So I didn't have my sweet potatoes after all :( We got home about 8pm and I didn't want to eat at 9 so stuck a pizza express margarita in. Only 9 points and so yummy! Perfect size, too. Don't need to go to the supermarket after work tomorrow though and will try and leave before 9 (I was a sleep monster this morning) so we can leave work before 6. It takes an hour to get home and with cooking and shopping it feels like it's time for bed when I've finished eating! I used to do a weekly shop online but we don't have enough room for it here so have to go food shopping at least every other night. It so much more expensive too :confused:

I'm meeting up with my lovely friend Hen on Saturday. We're going to see day breakers and go to La Tasca. I've got the points in my EOG, but has anyone been? Any idea of how many dishes per person is about right? I don't know the sizes.

Points for today:

Breakfast: none - got up too late
Lunch: Chicken chow mein(7)
Dinner: Pizza (9)
Snacks: Hot chocolate (1), Ice cream (2) with golden syrup (1)

Leaves 1 point which I'm not going to carry forward as I think general restaurant points (as opposed to named) are a bit risky.

Only fruit and veg was the beansprouts in the chow main and the tomato one the pizza, eeeek.

Must remember to take in beans and bread tomorrow!
 
Its not much fun shopping when you have to share a kitchen and only have one shelf in the fridge and one in the cupboard but hey ho hopefully it wont be for long Jess.

going off to look up La Tasca its another one of those places i've never heard of
When i'm over one weekend we really must take a trip to Westfields shopping center I so want to visit Wahaca's anyway give my love to Hen

Yeah, definitely! I love Westfield. It's got yo! sushi too which I love. I think not next Monday but the Monday after the place of choice will have to be Okawari in Ealing.. Chicken teryaki bento box with rice, salad, miso soup and 2 pieces of sush. Is wahaca's the mexican? I think I went there with Hen and Adam. Had a burrito and dougnuts with caramel sauce. Amazing! Um, think I just realised why we never have any money, haha.

Oh and I'm off Wed-Fri every week and Tuesdays after Feb so it doesn't have to be a weekend if it's just us x
 
Hope your having a great day - May have to consider not popping into your diary from now on Mrs - I always leave either with a recipe to try or with my mouth watering because of all your lush eating outs and take aways!:p
 
Just realised I converted my start weight incorrectly by 2lbs. Forgot to add them. But my current weight was 1lb down :p I always get muddled. So my last weight loss was 3 but my first weight loss was 3.5lb!

I'm such a simpleton when it comes to basic maths. I know how I got the first conversion wrong but after my second weigh in I just took 2.5 off my ticker so I don't know how I ended up 1lb down. I'm pretty sure I had subtraction down in year 2 :p

We're not actually going to La Tasca on Saturday any more. I told Hen we wouldn't really be able to share as it would be too hard to work out points and she said tapas really needs to be shared so we're going somewhere else. Okawari! Yay! My fav restaurant ever. I was going to include La Tasca in my points and saved 2 yesterday with plans to save more today, but don't need to anymore. I'm having a bento box with beef teriyaki, steamed rice, salad, 3 pieces of sushi and miso soup.

Weighing in on Sunday this week and having that as my last "treat day" as Adam's boss and wife are doing us dinner and I don't want to be awkward. After that back to weighing in on Mondays and no more days off.

Karen, next time you're free we can go to Westfield and Wahaca's if you like? I'll make sure I work up a lot of APs at the gym so I can have their amazing doughnuts! EOG has points for general Mexican, so that should be ok. If there's anywhere you want to try just say and we can go :)

That little gem is indeed a myth Jess, as long as you don't eat more calories than your body needs there is no way it can be stored as fat its only excess calories can be stored hun.

I rather fancy the sound of YO Shusi now I know its there lol
