Johnson up day down day diet!

Whoo Hooo :clap: Nice losses, and even maintaining is a good deal - when was the last time you ate during the week and maintained?!!

Nice one :cool:

Good point DQ - not gaining and a gentle steady loss MOST of the time is what we really want to see!

Exactly!

Hi

My scientific results this morning please me. I decided to weigh after every up day too as I think it gives a better estimate of how much I've lost. I was 11,13 after every down day this week , whereas from starting at 12,1 I briefly went up then it went down after every up day. After up days my weight was: 12,3, 12,2, 12,1 and this morning 12,0, so I have definitely lost at least 1lb & I checked my measurements again this morning & they're the same as yesterday so 1.5 inches lost. Okay so this works, even the way I did it this week!

This coming week I will have no takeaway/meals out & I will try to have calorie-counted ready meals or low cal me-prepared meals to see how I can really do. I will also try not to have bread every up day which I did this week.

I think I will also weigh weekly on a Tuesday morning after an up day as I think it is a more accurate result of what my weight is.

(This week's loss is helped by 11,700 + steps yesterday & an hour's aqua aerobics but since I do the aqua every week it shouldn't make any difference to my weigh-ins!)
Good luck everyone with the next week!

That's fantastic Anja! Like you say, you had an exceptional week because of all the family events etc and the upset with your brother ... but you still lost!!

I sometimes have to pinch myself ... I'm eating like a normal person (albeit every other day) and I'm losing weight.

Good luck for the week ahead :)

Is that your official weekly loss Bex? If so - fantastic! Food AND 2lb off? Wonderful!!

Bring on week 2 :)

Yes it's my official WI! I am ok with 2lb, but i have gained 2lb over the bank hol weekend, as i was 4lb down on Fri!:sigh: Not 100% convinced JUDDD is for me yet but i will give it another week.

I think you've had a really good week. Please give it a really fair shot this week. I think this plan is the answer for you with your active social life.

A 2lb loss is a real success.

The thing is 2lb a week will soon mount up - ok it may not be the heady losses you see on CD but you are eating and having a relatively normal life. Yes a rapid loss is exciting, but is it sustainable? I think if you have had a good week and ended up 2lbs down you should be jumping for joy. I know I am and the difference, as I know I have already said, is that I can stick to it.

Anja, I am glad you are happy to have ended the week down, that means you are staying a Juddder which is great news. Mind you don't now go the other way and cut back too much on your UD as that can cause probs too! I don't cal count at all on UD's, DR J says not to and for me I want that freedom. I have had a meal out and a takeaway in the last week and so cal counting is tricky and a guesstimate at best.
I wish all Juddders a good week and a happy UD or DD to all!

Hi Bex
There are bound to be fluctuations in your weight on this diet because of its very nature. That's normal for slim people who don't diet: their weight goes up and down by a few pounds every week - they just don't log it or even notice it.

The thing is to see it as an average ... if you weighed yourself and then didn't weigh yourself for a month and found you were 8 or 10lb down, you'd not even know if you did it by gaining a pound, losing two, gaining one, losing one etc ... you'd only know the average end result of a month eating this way. And you'd be delighted.

I'm glad you're giving it another week - one week just doesn't do ANY diet justice.

Thanks for all your positive replies.
Confession time;

I lied.

I really was 4 lb down at the end of last week. I ate on fri eve, a dd, prawn salad. I had an UD Sat and ate Atkins all day Sat. Sun was a dd and i had 2 cd bars and a tetra, then about 4 malteasers and 4 skittles. By Mon morn i was 1 lb heavier at 3 lb down, so ok.

Then yesterday i went out for the day, ate kids party food all day, and some cake, malteasers, sandwiches etc. Then i get on the scales this morn at i weigh 208.4lb!!! What has happened???

So i have really only lost 0.6lb. Sorry i lied, i just didnt want to let everyone down. F@@K knows how i can gain 2.4lb in a day. I didnt massively pig out, just ate the wrong things.

JUDDD and Atkins was working for me last week.:cry::cry:

I am really crap.:cry::cry::cry:

Awww Bex. Damn body's eh.

Hang on in there and keep the faith. Bet it'll sort itself out this week.

Bex - don't panic! This is where JUDDD comes into its own. Do NOT feel guilty ... slim people have little pig-outs at parties then FORGET about it and move on.
What they DON'T do is to thrash themselves emotionally about it and starve themselves unreasonably.

Get back on plan - have your DD as usual: stick to it. Then have your usual UD: don't calorie count but be 'aware' .. eat healthy and the cals will all even out throughout the week.

You'll see the scales move down by the end of the week if you just get back onto an even keel. :)

RD speaks wisely Bex! You know it makes sense, don't sabotage yourself now, just say to yourself that was an up today is a down and get on with it. You can do this, you are still 0.6 down, that is still down a bit not up a bit. Shake off that negative feeling and look forward. This is a balance and it will work, if we are patient and don't expect ourselves to achieve miracles!

Hi Bex,

Don't beat yourself up. The thing is you actually lost over the whole week. Another week is here now, dust yourself off and start again.

I admire you for doing Atkins on your ud's it shows you are really trying. Maybe it might be worth including a few 'good' carbs on your ud's to test the water. It could be that your body has had really low carb levels for a few days, then the party food, maltesers, etc have thrown your body into a tiny carb frenzy?

I'm not really sure what i'm saying is true, it's just an idea. Why not try having a few good carbs on your ud's and see what happens this week. You never know.

Don't give up or feel down though, you are doing really well.

Frumpster.x.

Totally agree with Frumpster. Nothing wrong with 'Atkinings' but you have the added problem on the ol' glycogen which will give a false reading on the scales.

I can't help wonder why you are chosing to combine the two. Atkins and Juddd? Is it that you fear a total carb blowout on the UDs?

I was Atkinsing because i am going on hol at the end of June and was hoping to loose a bit quicker.

I take on board the healthy carbs comment, probably right.

Still:cry::cry::cry:

Off out now, catch you later all.xx
