Judy's Jolly Journey (restarts at post 295)

The chick pea dahl is from a tin purchased in ASDA, but is very nice. I will get round to making my own one day but the tins are quite reasonably priced also.

Well the dental visit wasn't as good as expected. I was due to have a filling in a tooth that we've been trying to save for weeks. I had an infection in it and this was my 3rd visit but unfortunately it was still infected so had to be removed. I now have a rather large hole and another weeks worth of antibiotics! That means I'm not eating properly and the meds usually mean I don't lose any weight. It catches up after but the next 2 weigh ins might not be as good as I was expecting. I just need to remind myself that my efforts will show eventually and stick to the plan. Easier said than done as I am result driven. If I don't see a loss it puts me off instead of spurring me on. I really need to find some coping strategies. Any ideas??

Need to go have a drink now and meds so I'll be back later, JJ x

Just read my earlier post again and it sounded quite depressed - sorry about that. I'm feeling much brighter this evening as today has gone quite well and I'm not in as much pain :D

Back to work tomorrow although the face is still swollen, at least when I speak people will understand me now :p

Right I need to plan my meals for Wednesday. I had a plan arranged but having to do some moving around as can't eat anything that needs chewing too much

Speak soon x

Well not eating properly, antibiotics and * week all meant I was expecting a gain at weigh in tonight. I was surprised by the amount though - 3.5 lbs! I know that will be off again next week but it is still disappointing. I'll just have to make sure I stick to plan this week.

Need to sort a soft diet out for the next couple of days as mouth still tender so could be lots of soup ;)

Today has been fine so far. I've decided on a red day as have some gammon needs using up.. I'll just have to chew slowly and carefully ;)

Breakfast - Strawberries and yoghurt
Lunch - Tuna salad with salad cream (2) and laughing cow light (HEA), Activia Intensely (2.5)
Dinner - Gammon with leek, ham and cheese topping (3) carrots, green beans and roast potatoes (HEB)
Snacks - 2 Alpen light (HEB), crisps (6), yoghurt and fruit

My other HEA is milk for coffee. That will be 2 A and B's and 13.5 syns used today, which should be plenty :D

Yesterday was a 100% successful day and today is shaping up the same :D
HEA is milk for coffee
Breakfast was fruit and yoghurt
Lunch was Chickpea dahl on jacket potato with cheese (HEA)
Dinner will be Pasta bolognese (HEB) with parmesan (1.5) and an activia (2.5)
Snacks are 2 alpen lights (HEB) and crisps (6)

That uses 10 syns and my A and Bs :D If I'm still nibbly we have fruit and yoghurts to fill the gap. Could even have another meal if I really wanted :p

What I do need to do is drink more water! I'm having fruit tea or squash as well as coffee but no plain water. Do you think it really makes much difference?

I have loads in the freezer for this weekend but need to sort out a menu plan to use some of it up. That will probably mean I find something we are short of - I was hoping for a no spend on groceries week - it isn't going to happen  Will have to try to keep it to a minimum as need some spending money for my Portugal trip next month. I rather rashly booked a 3 night break on Wednesday but it's something to work towards. Hopefully I can lose at least 10 lbs by the 18th when we fly ;)

Take care xx

Had a very busy weekend but all gone well.

Yesterday was a red day which was another 100% day. Today I have been to a christening and party where the food wasn't v sw friendly - had a couple of meat salad rolls, pork pie and quiche, along with piece of lemon coconut tart! Was really nice and I'm now back to my plan for the rest of the week.

Where is the time going? I keep meaning to pop in and catch up with everyone but by the time I get round to it I'm too tired and need to head for bed

I haven't been too busy or tired to eat though and have stuck to plan very well this week. Yesterday and today have been green days and I seem to have eaten loads

Yesterdays plan:
Fruit
Chickpea dahl, potato and cheese (HEA)
Yoghurt
Potato, Onion, Cheese (HEB) and herb frittata with baked beans
Natural yoghurt with options (2) and Nutella (4)
Milk (HEA)
2 Alpen light (HEB)
Crisps (6)

So finished day on 12 syns

Today is very similar:
Cold frittata with salad cream (2)
Chickpea dahl, potato, onion and veg
Activia lemon (2.5)
Pasta with tomato sauce and cheese (HEA)
Fruit and yoghurt
Milk (HEA)
2 Alpen light (HEB)
Crisps (6)

That is a total of 10.5 syns but still 1 B to use.

I've been finding green days much more filling when it's cold like it is today. These foods are more warming and comforting somehow. Must have a look through the comfort foods cookbook and see what else I can make other than soups or stews ;)

That's enough from me for now. Catch you soon, JJ x

Morning all

I have had a good few days following plan this week. Hopefully it will show on the scales tonight :cross: If not I know it will just be the residue of the antibiotics and * week so I shouldn’t throw a hissy fit and stuff my face in temper

Today’s plan is:
Fruit and yoghurt
Ham salad with coleslaw (3)
Banana
Crisps (6)
Chicken parmigiana (4 and HEA) with potato (HEB), carrots and green beans
Yoghurt

That is 13 syns and my other healthy extras are milk and Alpen lights.

I’m posting from work again so don’t have time to read around the site today. I will just send hugs and best wishes to everyone to use as you see fit :p

Hi JJ

Good luck for weigh in later :cross:...
Isn't it blinkin cold :winter_brr:... we had hail yesterday and they are giving out "snow warnings" allready . I think we need to be digging out more slow cooker/1-pot wonders in anticipation don't we!!!
Ooohh - a break in Portugal, I don't blame you ..its something nice to look forward to isn't it -especially with these grim overcast days we seem to be getting..
Anyway -enough waffle from me for now, I will pop back later and see how you have got on..
Have a lovely day and keep up the great work :D

I am freezing……and I feel as rough as a bear’s doo dah ;) I want to go home, cuddle up with a hot water bottle and sleep the afternoon away :needhug:
Instead I am stuck in my air conditioned office  organising our filing system for migration to the newer, super duper version which will make all our lives easier  and resenting everyone who walks past the building, cos they aren’t stuck in here :(

Ok moan over. Last nights weigh in was a bit of an anti climax – I stayed the same

It could have been worse, but I think that’s the first time I’ve done that. I do know my efforts will eventually show but I’m not a patient person when it comes to losing weight – I need quick results or I get fed up. The logical part of my brain tells me that it will take time and I need to put the effort in – the other part wants to know why cutting out 2 of my usual 3 bags of crisps a day isn’t resulting in the stones falling away daily  I’ve realised I can talk a good game, I’m just not good on following through.

Soooooo – I need a good talking to and a few kicks to get me motivated again. I have sat around the 20 lb lost mark for long enough and I need to get to my club 10 and 2 stone award before my holiday on 18th November. I could do with borrowing someone else’s determination for a while. Hey Capricorn – feel like loaning me your mojo? :rotflmao: Seriously if anyone has any tips I’d appreciate them.

Now that turned into an essay didn’t it? I’ll post today’s plan shortly.

Thursday 21st October – Red

Breakfast – Strawberries, grapes, banana and Activia yoghurt
Lunch – Chicken Tikka, lettuce, onions, gherkins and beetroot with fat free vinaigrette
Snack – Crisps (6) and Alpen light (1/2 HEB)
Dinner – Pork and apple (2), potato (HEB), vegetables
Fromage frais with options (2)

HEA is milk for drinks and possibly some cheese for a sauce on my veg at dinner time. This might also need a couple of syns for thickening. I’ll see how I feel later.

:asskick: there you go -ass kick delivered :giggle:

Well personally I reckon that a sts when you have been under the weather and on medication deserves a :0clapper:. I know its not what any of us want to see -but just think, it shows that even though you have been poorly you haven't turned to food for comfort :happy036:
I can't give you my mojo -but you can share it if you like :p.
It is so blinkin cold isn't it... I don't normally feel the cold -but I seem to be turning into a right wuss :winter_brr: -the up side though is that it means "comfort food" time is here :bliss:. Thing is that when its so cold n grim outside we all want to stay snuggled up indoors don't we -last thing I want to do is get out of bed early for the gym *heck its not normal getting up when its dark*...
Come on then -we need to get your motivation up -you know you can get your club10 before you go on your jollies.. I have every faith in you...:vibes:
Hope you are warm n toasty and back home soon
Take care,,,,

Thanks hun I need that ;)

Yesterday I stuck to plan until 9pm then had 6 squares of Dairy Milk (not sure on syns but not more than the 7 I had left hopefully)

Dinner was lovely but had no fromage frais left * I think DD’s BF ate it * so saved 2 syns on the options – didn’t get the chocolate fix though hence the DM. Actually it was a 200g bar so I think I was quite restrained

Today is a red day and the plan looks like this:
HEA is milk for drinks
Breakfast - Bacon and tomatoes
Lunch – Chilli and cheese (HEA)
Dinner – Chicken, potato (HEB) and vegetables
Snacks – Fruit, yoghurt, 2 Alpen lights (HEB) and crisps (6)

I should give the crisps up but having them to look forward to keeps me sane at the moment. I’m limiting the sweet stuff in the house (though DD keeps bringing some in); I’m not having bread or alcohol; and I’ve stopped using butter or margarine. I think giving up crisps might be a step too far at present. I’ll do that once I’ve lost a bit more.

Right, I need to get back to work. Catch you soon, JJ x

Ok so I am useless at sticking to plan
I have changed a few things around and today's plan now looks like this instead:

Friday – Red
Milk (HEA)
Hifi (HEB)
Bacon and tomato
Chilli and cheese (HEA)
Banana strawberries grapes and yoghurt
Chicken with tomato sauce and 1 tbsp parmesan (1.5) potato (HEB) vegetables
Crisps (6)
1 Alpen light (3)
2 A & B and 10.5 syns

Morning :D It's another cold one here so we are tucked in at home with the heating on:winter_brr:
DS isn't well so don't think we'll go out at all, though I need to get some milk and yoghurt.

I'm having a green day today as it's nice and warming.
B - porridge (HEB) with mixed berries
L - pasta with tomato sauce and 1 tbsp Parmesan (1.5)
D - potato, chick pea Dahl and cheese (HEA)
Other HEA is milk and HEB will be 2 alpens or a hifi bar.
Snacks are my crisps (6) fruit and yoghurt

I think that will be enough though I have some parsnip and apple soup in the freezer if I fancy something else.;)

I'll now try and catch up with all the posts I've missed this week  Wish me luck :D

Todays plan went pretty well. I made 2 additions which were 1 tsp oil to roast my potatoes and a meringue with the fruit and yoghurt. So I've finished the day on 12.5 syns. Quite pleased with that.

Good afternoon all - 'tis a bright sunny day here but cold with it. DS is much better today so we will be heading out for a while later.

I have today's menu sorted and it's lookin pretty good.

Sunday – Red

Milk (HEA)
Hifi (HEB)
Bacon 2 sausages (1) 2 eggs and tomatoes
Banana
Pork Steak (2) with potato (HEB) and vegetables
Berries and yoghurt
Chicken in crumb and parmesan (2.5 & HEA) with salad
Yoghurt
Crisps (6)
2 A & 2 B and 11.5 syns

I'm going to swap lunch and dinner as I'm not that hungry just now, so a lighter meal is called for

I know I shouldn't but I hopped on my home scales today and it's looking good for a loss come Wednesday :D Hopefully I will stick to plan, but I'm just taking each day as it comes at the moment. If I try to think or plan too far ahead I get too impatient and find it easier to give in to temptation. I know the only one I'm hurting is me so why can't I stick to plan longer that a few days?? Just need to keep working on it I suppose.

I didn't have my crisps today. I swapped those and a yoghurt for strawberries and a shape dessert. That was 5.5 syns which was more than expected when I bought them, but it was v nice:D

So I finished the day on 11 syns which I am happy with.

It is another nice but cold day here and I’m feeling quite good – even though I’m at work :(

I have planned an Extra Easy day today which is looking like this:
HE’s – Milk and Alpen lights
B – Banana (not that hungry)
L – Ham, potato and egg salad with cottage cheese, fruit salad & yoghurt
D – Beef and red wine pasta (1.5) with salad
Snacks – Plums, Shape dessert (5.5) Crisps (6)

Total of 13 syns for the day. I know I’ve been at the top end of the allowance this week but I’m happy with how things have gone. At least when I eventually hit a plateau I’ll have something to cut out :p

The pasta turned out really well and I have another 3 portions cooling. Hopefully it will save and reheat ok.

Today has been another 100% day so I'm hoping for a good loss this week.

Off to plan for tomorrow.
