ProPoints Katy's diary: No more binges & no more wasting time!

I think I make healthier choices on slimming world and I seem to enjoy the food a lot more without weighing everything I eat!
Also with being on my own everynight with the mr at work gives me time to make batches of food where as I didnt have the time to cook everything from scratch before.
I lost 3 stone on it before and im hoping I can again as i normally lose it quicker on slimming world and when my losses slow dkwn ill prob come back on ww...im just a serial dieter and get bored too quick lol x

Random thought at 11:30pm at night but I have had the urge for a while to start running. Obviously my two damaged ankles are a problem, specifically my left ankle which i broke a few years ago.

I wouldnt know where to start or how tbh.. I was thinking about perhaps starting with powering walking and alternating between running/jogging and walking.

I have no doubt i would NOT be able to run for more than a minute at this stage, but its something that would improve over time...

My bf has been encouraging me to start running with him, i have been unable to because of my ankles but also because i felt i was being 'pushed' into it which made it even less appealing to me.. But, tonight, i have had this overwhelming urge to start.

Any ideas on websites etc i could look at to research more? Or any tips? Advice?

Im excited to tell my bf tomorrow lol x
 
I suggest looking into the couch 2 5k one. You do it gradually. I was looking into it but don't wanna run alone lol x
 
Hey beaut, I'm a runner and have another half marathon booked in with another one to follow! Stupid illness meant I couldn't do the first one last Sunday :(
If I were you, the very first thing to do is buy some proper running trainers, especially if u have bad ankles. You can do some serious damage without. Even with no problems, I notice twinges here and there. Just make sure they have cushioned soles an are designed for running rather that gym trainers. They don't have to be really expensive ones but honestly, that will make a massive difference and could save u from an injury.
Then!!! I'd start off with jogging for 4 mins and walking for 2 mins( on/off) probably for about 20-30 mins. Then up that to 5 mins jog/ 2 mins walk.
Then!!! Focus on time rather than distance: start off with say a 20 minute continuous run and add 5 minutes to your time every time you go out. Then as your mileage builds up, you can focus on distance. Never run one day after the other. Always have at least 1-2 days rest in between. Good luck Hun, you can do it xxx

I started running last May using a c25k app. I could barely run for 30secs when I started and in August and October completed two 10ks.

I'd definitely recommend an app or the NHS podcasts (though then you can't pick the music) and some running shoes. I got mine when I'd finished the c25k and was training for 10k but with your ankles it might be good to get some early on. They're not cheap but it's definitely worth it. If you go to sweatshop (it used to be he runs, she runs) they'll do gait analysis for free to help you buy the right shoes to support your feet.

Oo ok think i will! Do you have to do it 2-3 times a week though? As il prob only manage weekend runs and like you i def wont run alone! Espesh with how unfit i am now lol x

Ooo thanks for your advice! Any suggestions on particular makes of running shoes? I will have to take a look over the weekend. I will try start this weekend if i can with my bf and see how i get on! Best take my inhaler looool. So unfit! Xx

Nike and Adidas do some basic running trainers quite cheap. Look on sports direct website chick xxx
 
Well i dont wanna jinx it but looks like i am back on track! Eating healthily and sticking within my points.. Hopefully within the next few weeks i will start running too :)

Food diary:
B: cornflakes and skimmed milk 5pp

Lunch: chicken ceasar salad (low fat) 7pp

Snacks pomegranate and a skinny latte 2pp

Dinner: king prawns, tomato and basil sauce, loadsa veg and linguine 12pp

Evening snack: fruit only

Im due on but this month i am not turning into an abs psycho (dont wanna speak too soon lol) so i think the pill has sorted out my hormones finally!

I have a fully booked weekend this weekend, friday my cousins bday and we going to a rave ;p, saturday i am seeing an old friend whose had a baby, then my bf in the evening, sunday out with the bfs fam for lunch.

Few dilemmas for this weekend.. Firstly it involves alcohol fri night, so i am sticking to dietcoke and voddy aiming to drink water from 11pm!

Sunday 3 course dinner.. Literally my bfs parents comment on me not eating so i am gonna HAVE to eat 3 course but just pick the healthiest option and always leave something on each plate x
 
P.s i reaaaaaaally want a loss this week! Il be devo if i dont lose :'( this is my 4th week and was aiming for 7lb loss in first month so i have achieved 6lbs so far..

If i could get 7lbs or more il be over the moon! X
