Kim's diary of being a new mum

Re: Kim's pregnancy diary

Oh no just getting ready for bed and applying my anti stretch Mark cream to find a stretch mark on my tummy :( sad times! I've got small ones on my hips from puberty but now they are appearing on my tummy and I'm not even that big yet! Xx

Ahh no x sorry to hear that hun x They should fade afterwards...but think of it in a positive way, it's a little reminder of the great work your body is doing growing and carrying your little one :) xxx

Exactly - they're a badge of honour I think. Something that'll always remind you that you're a mummy :)

I'm covered in them anyway from years of weight gain and loss so I've not had any new ones yet. I kinda hope I do tbh - I want to be able to differentiate between the dieting stretch marks and the baby stretch marks. The latter are the kind I'm happier with! xxx

I'm the same. No new ones but years of yo yo-ing mean that I've got a fair few faded ones. Thy do fade and mine aren't that noticeable anymore :) xx

Yeah I have some faded ones on my hips from lots of yo-yoing too :) barely notice them now x so fingers crossed any tummy ones will be the same xx

Mine don't look too bad at all these days and if you ever worry about then in certain clothes, fake tan covers a multitude of sins, I never bother though. I have them everywhere pretty much, legs, arms, tummy, bum, hips... But they've been with me so long that I hardly notice they exist any more, they're just part of me. :)

aww thanks girls, I've come to accept i'm going to get stretch marks (although i have just ordered some bio-oil from amazon as i want to try and minimise and people tell me thats pretty good!), it doesn't really bother me that much - the yo-yo dieting hasn't exactly left me with a tummy i'd ever reveal in a bikini so it'll only be Mike and children that ever see my tummy and they wont care if it's a bit stripey (i hope!)as you say - they are a badge of honour :)

Well 23 + 4 for me, heading towards V day! :D

Yesterday evening i had a bit of a break down to Mike - i just started sobbing and sobbing. Bless him it sort of came out of nowhere and he certainly wasn't expecting it, but i think it's safe to say my hormones are all over the place at the moment. He didn't try to make me calm down just let me get it out which i think was very much needed and i do in a way feel better today. Although if you say Boo to me i probably would still cry!

Yesterday i went to mothercare at lunch and got a pack of plain white baby grows and a pack of plain white vests (very boring colour wise but figure i'm only getting the basics)......question for you ladies, i got the short sleeve vests as thats what my family have always used, but have any of you ladies got or going to get long sleeve vests? I wasn't sure if i would need a few of those in case it's really cold in Feb?

Hope you all have a great day! :)

Hey hunnie.. Sorry to hear you had a breakdown yesterday but I think it can only do you good... This whole pregnancy thing is scary as hell so to have that on top of grief.. A good cry can only be good.. Hope you feel better after it.. xx

Am not sure bio-oil is good to prevent scarring.. But it is great for healing them.. I was using it initially when I found out I was pregnant but after reading the bottle decided to get a preventative moisturiser and hold onto that for when bubs is here..
I coat myself in baby oil while still went in the shower... Don't dry off, but wear a bath robe for a while after.. I dry my legs n feet only.. Then when am dry I use Palmers Cocoa Butter.. So far I've no stretch marks on my tummy.. But they say if you're going to get them, you'll get them regardless of what you use...
I don't mind my tummy getting them.. But I freak at the thought of getting them on my boobs... How weird am i?! LOL

I've decided to just get the short sleeve (t-shirt type) ones.. But that's just coz i'm a weirdo and can't stand wearing 2 long sleeves together unless they are both completely in line.. If I can feel the seam at all its freaks me out... So I've come to the conclussion with a vest, a long sleeve top and a caridgan on.. Baby will be nice n toasty.. and obviously if we're going out anywhere it'll have its pram suit on and the car heated before we leave... :)

Re: Kim's pregnancy diary

Thanks Frances :) im using Palmers cocoa butter stuff every night but figured I could try the bio oil or I may save it for after! Every little helps and all that.... even if I don't prevent stretch marks I'll hopefully stop the skin itching as it stretches :)

Haha I was thinking that the 2 long sleeves might be annoying so think I'll stick with the short sleeve ones I've got!

Yeah I do feel better after my cry last night. I think I'm just feeling a bit anxious about baby etc and add to that grief and stress of moving, worry about money when I'm on mat leave etc I definitely needed a cry! Should keep me going for a little while :)

How are you? All better after your cold? X

Well that link contradicts what I said so u do whatever u think us best :)
The itching is crap isn't it?? I've stopped tryna do it discreetly around j. I just no whip up my top n hav a good old itch ha ha. So damn sexy!!
Yea all recovered now thanks. Tho still living my honey n lemon drinks c&o refreshing :)

I have the mum & me soothing lotion (was given a gift set for my birthday) and that's been great for calming itching down. The set coming with a cute wash bag and a few samples - was gonna buy one for myself until I got given one!

Other than that I use lush sympathy for the skin cream, which smells of vanilla custard and is full of cocoa and shea butter. I think it is true that if you're gonna get stretch marks then you will but I figure a bit of moisturising can't hurt ;) xxx

Oooh that lush cream sounds gorgeous! I may have to have a look for that just for the smell ;)

It's fab, it has fresh banana in it too so it's really good for the skin. Been using it since day one and even when I was struggling with smells it was never a problem :) They should do you a sample to try so definitely ask for one. Dream Cream would be good for itching too. I'm getting a pot in for baby and for me - it's a lovely gentle lavender and cocoa butter based cream and brill for delicate skin/eczema/itching/healing tattoos etc and just moisturising. Can you tell I used to work there lol! We used to have a lot of regulars who used it as baby lotion and they loved it :) xxx

Sounds amazing lol I want some of that cream :D xx

Hope you're well today Kim? And bubba? :) xx

Me too definitely going to go in to Lush and have a nosey one weekend or lunchtime.

I'm OK thanks Jess, bubba is quiet again.....3 quiet days, trying not to get worried as i am feeling movements they are just not as clear as they were.....last night it felt like the baby was falling over (yes i had mike laughing his head off trying to describe it) but what i am feeling are "thuds" rather than prods...almost
like baby is toppling over and bashing in to bits of me! lol. I am assuming it's moved to hide whereever my placenta is hence i am not feeling definite movements.

How are you hun? not long til hubby is home and you have your scan :)

I had that last week... She was really quiet.. I was getting little movements.. very slight.. But no kicks.. Then I had a day of getting my insides booted where she was obviously making up for lost time.. and now back to the usual of a few kicks and few movements again..

Yeah I think I might have to x I'm not sure where my nearest store is though...off to have a look! :)

Aw, try not to worry...might be having a growth spurt or it could be your placenta hun shielding some of the movements. I feel all sorts sometimes and I wish I had a camera in there so I could watch what's going on as sometimes it feels so odd lol

I'm sure baby is absolutely fine...just give it a good poke lol :D x

Yeah all is good here thanks, I know so excited for tomorrow. He's been such a miserable sod on the phone etc so I hope he's in a better mood tomorrow lol and eee! Scan Saturday :D x

Ahhh glad it seems pretty normal. I am definitely getting movements throughout the day just not kicks outwards they are all inside movements....it lets me know it's OK with the jabs to my bladder!

Haha yes i tend to poke a fair bit when i am in bed..poor baby, this morning i woke up late so i didn't get to lay there focusing on the wriggling for long. I'd love to have a camera to see what it's doing in there - sometimes it's such a weird sensation you just wonder what on earth it is getting up to! Hopefully you might see some of these crazy moves at your scan this weekend and can fill us all in on what they are really doing in there. :)

Aww bless him, i hope he is happier, maybe he's missing home and his girls a lot. Can't be nice being away from home for so long. I'm sure seeing his girls at the weekend will cheer him right up :)

Oh and guess what - baby knows i'm talking about it so it's tap dancing (?) on my bladder, i've just been to the toilet but feel like i REALLY need to go again. When it stops i don't need to go...naughty baby!
