Kim's diary of being a new mum

Didn't find anything in my size :( Maybe I should have tried on the 18's though having now read the above as I was an 18 there pre preg! Assumed I'd be a 20 and they had nothing in that size at all so left it.

I'm looking forward to spending mat leave living in leggings and a top or my yoga pants. Assuming I'm not going out of course! Wouldn't dream of leaving the house without actual jeans or trousers... ;)

I'm the same. As soon as I get home I stick on leggings or my pj bottoms. I don't go out unless I'm in my jeans or a dress.

Hells yes. Weirds me out when I see girls in those semi see through primark leggings and no skirt! They do know everyone can see their pants right? ;)

Oh I hate that! I spend more money and get jeggins from m&s that are much thicker and don't show pant line at all, but I always wear with dresses or tunic tops so you wouldn't see my pants even if you could! Can't stand seeing people's pants in leggings.

The under the bump jeans I have are a size 18 so definitely going to try a 16..... my sister did say she went down a size rather than up a size for maternity wear...I guess it has room where you need it or something!

I quite agree - it looks awful!

I have to pop back to the doctors tomorrow so might try on the 18's while I'm in town. The only problem I have with my primark jeans is that the waist is huge compared to the legs and they do go down at the back a bit. Have to make sure I'm wearing a bump band and a long top ;)

Wow I'm having a really lazy weekend this weekend.... I've done nothing! Well apart from get my flu jab yesterday. I just dont feel up to anything.... not ill just not 100%.

Baby is having a quiet day today despite my poking it gives one little kick then quiet again so guess I better not p$&s it off any more. Maybe it will wake up after dinner! Mike is making us roast chicken :) he's a good roast dinner cooker!

Hope you girls have had a nice weekend and those of you in the South.... stay safe tonight and tomorrow with this predicted storm xx

Yea I got my usual size in the jeans n work trousers n both are too big. My size 14 work trousers (maternity) are huge on my hips n legs. N that doesn't happen. My hips are huge n I've chunky legs so I def should hav got a 12! Can't believe I'm actually saying that!!! Lol
Hope u feel better tomoro xxx

Well feeling a bit better tonight despite lack of sleep last night. The wind kept me awake from about 3am. The only good thing wad after a quiet day yesterday baby was kicking up a storm last night at 3.30am.... and had a real problem with me laying on my side... everytime I tried it booted me really hard! Haha. Crazy baby it obviously didn't feel that it should move but that I should move to make it comfortable!

Don't feel as achey as I felt yesterday so thinking it was my body reacting to the flu jab. It was nice having a chilled out day with Mike so I won't complain!

Been spending my morning trying to make a list of what we need for baby. Suddenly feels like Feb is just around the corner and December is going to be very busy and I'm sure will fly by!

Hope you girls had a good weekend :) x

OMG Kim I hear ya. Was thinking the very same this morning. Do up I got to make a list of what I've got, in what sizes n what I need. I don't wana go too mad on clothes in case we get lots of 1 size n little of another. So just want to have the bare minimum n lotsa spare cash for when bubs is here n I kno what size it needs!!
Also wana to stock up on food n nappies etc but afraid to in case whatever brand I get doesn't agree with baby.

I think that's the best idea tbh. If in doubt, buy big then it won't be wasted! We've hardly bought any newborn sized stuff but have been given some so we'll just need a quick shopping trip if he turns out to be dinky. ;) We have a tonne of 0-3 clothes and I've bought three different sorts of nappies so I can try them out on him, I want to use the Naty biodegradable nappies long term but got some other brands too so we can try them out :) I'm desperate to buy more clothes but telling myself I can't yet ;) xxx

Doesn't it just!!! Totally agree!! We're almost in November, and now suddenly "February" doesn't seem far away!! Especially as there's a chance I could have mine in January lol x

The way I see it is that I have 3 pay days left lol And Christmas in between!! eeeek! lol xx

Eek, I never thought of paydays! I've got two left before my pay drops to 90%. And if baby comes early they'll start my maternity from the day it's born so could end up with only one full pay day. Thank God I got Christmas sorted in August but we've got the wedding in March too!! Xx

I've had my last full payday - now that's terrifying! The way we get paid is weird though. - two weeks in advance and two behind. My next one will be all holiday with 8 days of mat pay at 90%, one after that will be all 90% and then it's down to the lower rate. Colin had best get this job tomorrow! xxx

That's how we get paid too. In January I'll get one week at full pay as it's holiday then the rest at 90%. I get 90% for 6 weeks altogether then half pay and statutory for a further 12 weeks then just statutory. So from June I'll be losing over £1000 a month. Effing hell!!!! Tom needs to sell some beds ;)
Good luck to Colin, I'll keep everything crossed xxx

It's good that you get the half pay to top it up for a little while. I'll be down by around £600 a month from January onwards, no idea how the hell we are going to manage tbh! Even with this new job Colin will still be earning less than I do normally so we'll be massively down on money but hoping we can top it up with tax credits etc. Never thought I'd be relying on benefits but there we go... :/

Thanks - just hope he gets it! And then a better one that he actually likes and pays awesome money very soon afterwards ;) xxx

Tom's on minimum wage basic but his commission tops it up. It's just hard to plan without knowing how much he's gonna get from month to month. Most months he gets a good £500 extra but we can't bank on it. So once I go back to work he'll look for a new job if he hasn't been promoted :) xxx

Ooh sorry Kim, just realised we've hijacked your diary for a money chat lol x

Re: Kim's pregnancy diary

Oh gosh I haven't even thought about it in pay days that really is scary! What's worse is I work for a Uni and they mess with our pay days over Christmas and Jan and Feb.... so we are paid early in Dec and then they bring the Jan pay forward to compensate then feb trends to be a long month. We get paid on the last Thursday of the month so sometimes have 5 week months which are killers!

I don't know how mike and I will cope with reduced pay I think I'll be going back to work in September as we generally need my salary to pay mortgage bills food etc and smp and tax credits won't be anywhere near enough! I'm going with the 'head in the sand' approach as it only stresses me out when I think about it Haha!

Oh I'm being minimum needed clothes wise I figure I have enough family for them to go shopping for me should baby be a tiddler or huge! Not knowing what it is also makes me want to shop once baby is here :)

Lol x scary isn't it with counting the time down in pay days! eek x and that's only if bubba doesn't come early!! :) x
