I've been making at least I one scan bran cake a week which I eat over the course of a couple of days & it has been working wonders, was sceptical at first & left them to languish in the cupboard for ages before I tried it. You can use 5 as a HeB or a syn per slice,so if I make it on a day as a HeB,it's a syn free cakeI weigh in on Mondays too, but quite like that .. I tend not to eat a lot at weekends (work is my danger zone foodwise), so feel emptier at the beginning of the week. Talking of feeling emptier ... the dreaded constipation has kicked in. Has that happened to anyone else this late in(4 months)? I haven't changed anything so I'm wondering if this is normal lol. It's scanbran for me I think ... do I start with a1/2 in my porridge or 1?
Haha. I frequently have my 5 slices as a HEXB. Normally used like you would a ryvita as its easy for work. Id start off slow though maybe and my word do you need to up your fluids because otherwise they have the opposite effect and you don't want that!!
I used to love staying to class - I found it genuinely good fun, and a way to exchange ideas, but also to give & receive help & advice - perhaps I was just lucky & went to a good class. I've always just used ordinary notebooks to record my eating. I love that feeling of control I get from that, though not sure I should relish the feeling of control over food quite so much TBH. Oh - & I weigh my heaviest on a Monday (weekends are my weakness & a food trap), so I WI on a Saturday which tends to give me a good start to the weekend.

Haha, loving the Miss Havisham analogy!
I used to use MFP but like you guys, the calories scared me. I won a 3 month membership to Nutracheck but again, it's calories :sigh:
Notebooks are the way forward and also allows me to feed by stationery/Paperchase addiction!
Sam how the hell can you eat that stuff as a crisp bread, first of all it looks like it was made from left-over Amazon packaging & second, it really does look like it could cause injury to your mouth!!Kudos to you if you can, I'll stick to the cake
That's how I have it too, but I only manage 2.5 slices with a lot of goop, like quark or cottage cheese. After switching to Ryvita last week it's been quite hard going back to Scanbran but I need a boost!
Quark and scanbran? Throw celery on there and you have devil food. You're brave!

Constipation? Magnesium is the way to go! With the added benefit of helping to reduce period pain over time Scan bran cake is the only item I've ever cooked that actually made me physically sick...! Maybe I did something wrong!
The funny thing is that I do know many of the people who go to my group and socialise with them at other times They are a really nice bunch and we always chat while waiting to be weighed etc but by that time on a Monday (I weigh in at 5.30pm, straight after work) I really just want to get home.
I'm off to Google 'foods rich in Magnesium' ... the period pain thing (and star weeks) are not, thankfully, an issue for me - I had cancer in my mid 30's and had all my inside womanly bits whipped out so I am thoroughly post menopausal and blessedly free from 'all that' (as my Granny would have euphemistically said ) The absolute BEST bit is that because I don't get hormonal surges I also don't get mood swings and cravings in the same way as I used to which I really think is making my SW journey easier
Fluid intake warning has been duly noted Sam ... I do love my porridge HEb, so I'll probably go with synning a ScanBran a day. The question is - hide it in my porridge or apply Quark mixed with Marmite (YUM!!) and eat with the lunchtime salad (which always includes celery because I love it)? LOL
I have it with laughing cow and ham. All 5 of them. And yes it gives me jaw ache but I kind of like that. It discourages further eating. Or talking. Or smiling.
