LoChan's diary - hello!

whats mix to max? am i missing something?

what an ingenious idea to use her aromatherapy oil on him.. but also is that not quite risky to use aa product of your own on a child who is not yours??

I hope he enjoys the museum today :) x

She looked really worried when she told me about it and said sorry that she should've got my permission first but I was fine with it since it had the desired effect.

He's been having a really rough time as his old special school is due to close in a year so he's been having transitional visits to a mainstream school that has additional support. It's been tough but the special needs teacher at the new school is absolutely lovely. I think he'll be fine once he's in school but it's going to be a nightmare getting him there - we've been given school bus transport for mornings while I work as we live 3 miles from the school but he's never met the new driver and escort so think it's going to be really hard next week :(

Mix 2 Max and Success Express were old additional plans before EE was introduced.

Mix 2 Max is basically choosing red or green (or neutral) at each meal and sticking to that choice for the meal. You can have your hexas and bs as you would on green/red. All your snacks and any starters/desserts are meant to be superfree or synned. I've interpreted this that I can use some alpens as a hexb for a snack as I would 'use' the hexb on green or red though.

I've got a 2006 SW manual with the plans in if you want more info :) I've got the 2009 one aswell but I keep the old one so I've got these plans handy too.

its okay :D thanks for the offer it sounds interesting but i'm sticking with EE until it stops working, which hopefully will be never! xxx :)

good afternoon thought i would stop by and say hi, i am so impressed with all this home cooking you do lo, where do you find the time.
i have often thought of having an organic veg box delivered how do you find it ? we already buy most off our fruit and veg from the local farm shop but its not always organic.
hope you have had a good day xx

I think cooking is becoming something of a hobby :) I didn't bother much before as there's only me who'll eat different things in the house so it's like cooking for a single person all the time.

I work jobshare so just do 3.5hrs each weekday but while my son's been off for the summer holidays (which is when I started up on sw again) I've found I've enjoyed using my free time cooking new things. I think it helps me stay on track as I'm having a lot of variety and enjoying eating things I've put effort into. My freezer's a bit overstuffed though with extra portions lol Thinking I'll buy an extra under-counter one soon.

The veg box thing I think I'll only do now and again - I'm lucky to live close to a trendy bit of Manchester that has a vegan organic co-operative shop (called Unicorn Grocery - cool!) with lots of nice fresh local produce so I normally go there. But I fancied having the veg box as it's up to them what goes in it so you get little surprises. I don't buy from abel and cole anymore (bought this recent box from the farmshed) but they have a great recipes section on their website which you can search under different fruits and veg for new ideas.

Today was really busy and turned into another green day (least I'm getting practise in for next week's challenge!). We had a lovely day out though there were a few hiccups - son had a mini tantrum at the museum as he wanted me to spend £7 to go in the 4d cinema which I really couldn't afford as I'm on the far end of the month cashwise. We discovered the free buses in Manchester, they're quite fancy compared to normal ones with leatheresque seats lol On the way back though a big group of people got on the bus with us and they left a three-year old at the stop! (They noticed just after we set off). A drunk later got on the bus then tried to get off in front of us and dropped his coke and whisky (in another coke bottle) on the floor and spent 5 mins picking them up and dropping them again, we couldn't get past him to get off the bus grrr :( Helped me point out to my son never to become an alcoholic anyway.

So food today - green

B - 'Carrot cake porridge - as per the vegetarian society website, which is: hexb of porridge oats done in water with grated carrot, diced apple, 1 tsp ground almonds (1.5 syns), 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp of ginger, splenda to taste. Suprisingly yum and very filling!

L - none  Was out all day between 11.30ish until after 6pm. I did take a snack box of 2 alpens (hexb) and four little plums with me. Had these at two intervals and drank a lot of water and an illicit bottle of pepsi max (am a former addict of the brown stuff, gave up on it a few months ago but have the occasional single serving while out)

D - Lentil Dhal (1 syn) with vegetable rice. Lemon Mousse with strawberries and 2 mini meringues (1.5 syns)

Evening - milky coffee (hexa) and kitkat (5.5 syns).

Feeling hopeful for tomorrow's WI. In theory I will be doing a LOT of walking next week - going out on my own tomorrow and aiming for a round trip of 6 miles and then during the week will be having a daily walk of just under 3 miles to pick my son up from school. Also going to keep up the yoga and aim for three cardio sessions (either davina or slammanning).

I did some yoga tonight and think I got a really powerful rush of endorphins, I felt so happy and positive once I finished the session. I think it will be good to mention this on here for me to look back on when I struggle further down the line. It feels nice to be treating myself properly :D

Good Luck with your WI... Can't wait to hear how you have done xxx

Morning all :)

3.5lbs off for me this week, very pleased with that :D Though I wonder if some of it is down to the mad day yesterday. If I get a small number or sts next week I won't be too surprised. But for now I'll take that number and do the banana dance of joy again

:banana dancer:

lol

Thanks everyone :) Heehee you gotta love those bananas :D

Mmph I did a two hour walkabout in my MBTs today - it left me ravenous! Hope that doesn't happen all week with the walking plans, making me worry already that I won't do well. Must tell the niggly doubt devil on my shoulder to hush their trap lol

My coat came today - it looks really lovely and is all furry lined so will be nice and snug. I can't zip it up yet but it fits okay around the arms. Should start some core exercises to deflate the tum a little I guess
Few pictures today, been busy:

B - 'Carrot cake' porridge (hexb + 1.5 syns) again - it's so filling I put it down halfway through and forgot about it I felt so full hehe.

L - Lentil dhal (1 syn), big baked potato and steamed veggies
Lentil Dhal, potato & veg.jpg
Afternoon - ww yoghurt and fibre plus bar (hexb)

T - Squash, spinach and groundnut curry (2 syns), rice & beans (vaguely nigerian), veg, mung bean wrap. Baked orange pudding (4 syns)

Evening - milky coffee (hexa), weetabix oaty bar (4 syns), 4 little plums, home-made salt and pepper crisps (2 syns).

Homemade crisps!.jpg

Meant to do some other exercise on top of the walking but feeling a bit worn out with a couple of hours in the kitchen today. Aiming for davina workout tomorrow and some yoga.

Night x

criiiiiiiiiiiiiisps

baked orange pudding also sounds beautiful - a slimming eats recipe or one of your own?

well done on your 3.5lbs :) thats an absolutely fantastic loss! :D xxx

The orange pud was a random internet find a few years ago, I think it's south african in origin.

The original recipe is here - Japie se gunsteling (baked orange pudding) - recipe on Forkd!

I just made half the mixture for two servings and substituted spenda for the sugar and just 2 tsp of light spread - came out a 7.5 syns for the lot.

It's really nice if a little odd - you get a kind of spongey topping, then an egg custard layer then an orangey milk sauce on the bottom :) Made a nice change and it smells heavenly.

Got up extremely late today resulting in that I didn't eat anything until half four this afternoon

But what I did eat was yummy:

Brunch - sweet potato houmous, crackerbreads (hexb), cucumber and cherry tomatoes. Baked orange pudding - 4 syns.

Tea - bowl of the squash & spinach curry (2 syns), potato skins with cheese (hexa) tomatoes and syn-free bbq sauce, cilantro cream and salad - the skins and cilantro cream are from julesm's tex-mex recipe thread/blog. They were absolutely gorgeous and I've got another lot left for lunch tomorrow.

Evening - milky coffee (hexa) and lazy cheesecake: fibre plus bar (hexb) crumbled into a bowl and microwaved 20 secs. Topped with quark mixed with splenda and 1/2 a sachet of ginger choc options (1 syn) and chopped banana. Mmm :)

Didn't get round to yoga today but did my 30 mins with davina. Aiming to do the yoga tom'ow after I put my son on his school bus and before starting work (I'm a homeworker so there's flexibility). I'll try not to eat the potato skins for breakfast although it will be very tempting. New favourite, can't wait to try some of the others from the tex-mex blog :)

Grr, not a good start to the day. My son's school bus didn't turn up - they'd been told the term started tomorrow. Had to wait until 9:40 for him to be picked up. Also went and burned the inside of my arm on the oven door this morning getting bread out of the oven that didn't work properly, stinging now 'cause it's right along the inner elbow crease bit

No time for yoga, have to do that in the evening, hoping work hasn't built up too much while I've been off. Pfft!

Thanks Mandy - the day improved a little but a bit up and down. Had to throw away the bread I got burned for as it was left proving to long and went a bit flat :(

My son said he felt sick in the school taxi (no bus as not enough kids to fill one at his new school which was a surprise for him I don't think he was prepared for). Also said at school he accidently hit someone with a tennis ball at playtime and the kid got angry and tried to whack him with a racket. He seems happy now we're home after a quick visit to the park on the way back, see how we get on as the week goes on I guess :)

Mmn, just enjoyed a nice snack of wholemeal toast - 1 piece spread with peanut butter and 1 with blackcurrant jam, topped both with chopped banana :D

No pictures today - everything was either too mundane or I've taken a pic of it already or there's a nicer pic of it on slimming eats lol

B - potato 'cake' (just mashed potato squished down into flattish circles), scrambled egg, mushrooms, baked beans

L - potato skins (hexa), salad & cilantro cream. Strawberries and chocolate quark (leftover from last night, 1 syn).

Snack - 2 pieces toast (hexb) with 3 syns of peanut butter. 1 syn of blackcurrant jam and chopped banana

D - Courgette & parmesan pasta from slimming eats (hexb & 1 syn). Coffee (1/2 hexa) and flake allure (8.5 syns)

Evening - going to have another coffee (1/2 hexa) and some lime mousse if it's set.

Did roughly 2.5 miles in my MBTs today and going to do a half hour of yoga before coffee and bed. The day doesn't seem so bad now the work and school portion is over, hoping tomorrow goes more smoothly :)

well done on the 2.5 miles even when you were working :D i got buggar all done today! x
