Ive been to London this afternoon, had to attend a work meeting for a couple of hours. Got to the station to buy my ticket and asked if there was a combined train/underground ticket. I know they used to do them many years ago and then stopped them, but now they do them again. But the guy said, no underground at Waterloo. I know there are undergrounds at Waterloo, so i asked if they were closed, no he said, but no underground at Waterloo. I couldnt stand there questioning him about what he meant as the next Waterloo train was due in 2 minutes. Anyway there was an inspector on the train so i asked him what the guy could have meant. He said, the ticket guy is an idiot, of course you can use the underground at Waterloo. And i did. Very strange though.
Got out of the meeting just before 4pm, so was considering going to Covent Garden and Leicester Square as i love it there, but it was raining and i was on my own so just got the train back home again. I think hubby and I will have to have a day in London soon though. We are going to Isle of Wight on Saturday to see his dad, so im looking forward to that. I love seeing Dicky, he is such a great character. We had mail from him this week, he has spent the last 2 years investigating their family history and has typed it all up in the form of a booklet. It was fascinating reading, going back to the 1700's.
Its hubbys birthday end of October so we are going away for a weekend to celebrate. I loved my trip down to Torquay the other day, so suggested we go there. Also, we intend to sell our house in a year or 2 and move somewhere, although im not sure where i want to live. My job means that im not really tied to a particular place as long as i live more or less in the south and i think somewhere around Exeter would be a wonderful place. Its so central to the south west, Cornwall is only an hour away, as is Bristol in the other direction. Then you have Barnstaple, Ilfracombe and Torquay all within striking distance. Somerset Dorset Devon and Cornwall on our doorstep, it would be a wonderful place to live. So while we are down there we may have a look around to see if there is anywhere that would be a good move for us
I tried the toffee raisin and nut exante bar for lunch today, was really yummy and very filling, texture is much like a chewy flapjack. Ive just had the Thai Chicken soup for dinner and added some extra chilli flakes as ive seen that mentioned by some other posters. It was delicious! I could really taste lemon grass and kaffir lime in it, and was spicy with the extra chilli. It should help keep my spice cravings at bay anyway.
