Lynn's Diary - My Big Fat Weight Loss Journey

OMG, you lot are like a load of old women!!LOL
Is it women only week in here Lynn? Haha
My nails are great too and so is my skin. Actually my skin really is so much smoother now with this better diet and more water. I really can notice it.
And my hair, well. I don't know cause i shave my head. Its so much easier. I always said as soon i start to lose it, its all coming off. Haven't bought shampoo for about 10 years. What a saving.
I was taking cod liver capsules until i started on xenical. Then decided to stop rather suddenly. Unfortunate side effects.
Anyway, really glad you are happy. Hope its a good week for you. X

Slim hyoure such a tease! Ignore him Lynn, he clearly doesnt appreciate the imortance of beautiful nails. Lynn I'm going to get myself some Sally Hansen tomorrow, its sounds miraculous stuff! My nails have always been quite good, but the last month or so I noticed they have become quite weak and soft. Why am I having an adverse reaction to eating properly lol!!! Skin and hair are looking ok so I guess its not malnutrition!

4 week holiday sounds good to me Lynn!!

Your Dove grey silk blouse sounds beautiful, and i hope youve been able to rescue it !!

xx

TOTM Slim? Take some evening primrose oil hunny, will make you feel much better :)

Haha. I was actually being serious about my skin though. I did notice the other day that the skin on my arms and legs is much smoother. Whether that is a better diet and more water or some reaction to the chlorine in the swimming pool.
Why does it take a woman with pmt an hour to make a cup of coffee.

BECAUSE IT DOES!!!!!!

I ordered the mixed exante pack which has turned up this morning, got soups and bars to try now. The bars will be much easier to take to work with me than a shake and the shaker i just hope they are not too sweet, and the soups will provide me with something savoury which im craving and might make hubby a bit happier!. The shakes are very nice for breakfast, i love the vanilla one mixed into strong hot black coffee, feels like a costa coffee treat that ive been missing.

Hey Slinky how's it going? ;)
Did you manage to rescue the bouse? It sounds gorgeous. I dont know if you can still get it but you used to be able to buy this stuff that was specifically to remove protein stains. Can't for the life of me remember what it was called, it was just a solution that came in a small bottle.

HOpe that everything continues to go well, and than you dont have any more shake related stains :)

Let us know what you think of the soups. I've stuck to shakes so far with the odd choc orange bar and they are sweet but ok for occassions when i'm out and about.

Hi Pink and Kas!

I think the blouse is ok, cant see any stains on it, although ive still to iron it yet. Its one of those fabrics that even plain water will leave a mark on, so maybe it wasnt a very practicle purchase, but it is really beautiful.

Ive been to London this afternoon, had to attend a work meeting for a couple of hours. Got to the station to buy my ticket and asked if there was a combined train/underground ticket. I know they used to do them many years ago and then stopped them, but now they do them again. But the guy said, no underground at Waterloo. I know there are undergrounds at Waterloo, so i asked if they were closed, no he said, but no underground at Waterloo. I couldnt stand there questioning him about what he meant as the next Waterloo train was due in 2 minutes. Anyway there was an inspector on the train so i asked him what the guy could have meant. He said, the ticket guy is an idiot, of course you can use the underground at Waterloo. And i did. Very strange though.

Got out of the meeting just before 4pm, so was considering going to Covent Garden and Leicester Square as i love it there, but it was raining and i was on my own so just got the train back home again. I think hubby and I will have to have a day in London soon though. We are going to Isle of Wight on Saturday to see his dad, so im looking forward to that. I love seeing Dicky, he is such a great character. We had mail from him this week, he has spent the last 2 years investigating their family history and has typed it all up in the form of a booklet. It was fascinating reading, going back to the 1700's.

Its hubbys birthday end of October so we are going away for a weekend to celebrate. I loved my trip down to Torquay the other day, so suggested we go there. Also, we intend to sell our house in a year or 2 and move somewhere, although im not sure where i want to live. My job means that im not really tied to a particular place as long as i live more or less in the south and i think somewhere around Exeter would be a wonderful place. Its so central to the south west, Cornwall is only an hour away, as is Bristol in the other direction. Then you have Barnstaple, Ilfracombe and Torquay all within striking distance. Somerset Dorset Devon and Cornwall on our doorstep, it would be a wonderful place to live. So while we are down there we may have a look around to see if there is anywhere that would be a good move for us

I tried the toffee raisin and nut exante bar for lunch today, was really yummy and very filling, texture is much like a chewy flapjack. Ive just had the Thai Chicken soup for dinner and added some extra chilli flakes as ive seen that mentioned by some other posters. It was delicious! I could really taste lemon grass and kaffir lime in it, and was spicy with the extra chilli. It should help keep my spice cravings at bay anyway.

Hey Lynn,

How wierd of the ticket seller, to deny there was no underground at waterloo! Maybe he had been drinking, drugs or just trying to make his day more interesting by annoying as many people as possible. Karma will come and get him !!

Ive never been to the Isle of Wight, whats it like? How long does it take to get there? I think its a great thing to work through family history and to put it in a booklet will help future generations. My great uncle did something similar last year and also wrote an account of his time in the army and ww2 and had it published and accepted by the British Museum. Unfortunately he died two months ago, after suffering from throat cancer for many years, its lovely that the family have this memory, and he had the pride of seeing his hard work recognised.

How exciting moving area, the south west is such a beautiful part of the country, I love cornwall and having such amazing coast lines on your doorstep would be such a treat! Exciting times ahead for you !

Hows your daughter getting on with Exante, hope she is doing well. Have you been finding it easier the longer you have been on it?

Have a nice day tomorrow xxx

The Isle of Wight is a really lovely place, its very small, about 18 miles across I think, and everything feels very compact there. You can be in beautiful countryside 1 minute, lovely little villages the next and then by the seaside before you know it. Has loads of great pubs, many with live music. All of my husbands family live there, although they did not come from there. His sister moved over first about 35 years ago, then was followed his mum and dad, other sister and her family and his brother about 12 years ago, also has an aunt that moved there about the same time. From us, living in Berkshire, its not very far. Takes about 50 minutes to get to Portsmouth and then its a 35 minute journey on the ferry. The Southampton ferry is closer, about 35 minutes away but the ferry journey is an hour. We pick and choose between them depending on the price and any special offers.

Daughter was avoiding my calls this weekend so i guessed things were not going well lol, but i had a text from her yesterday saying she had given up by Friday, so i suggested she do 2 shakes a day and a meal in the evening, and she seems to be going for that, so thats good news

I love the Isle of Wight. Used to spend most weekends there during the summer racing from Cowes. Done a few races round the island too. There are some lovely little harbours with little village pubs, beautiful scenery too. Bit bleak and empty in the winter, but sometimes that can be nice too.
Hope you have a good time there.

Pleased your exante journey is going well Lynn nice to see you're planning your next jet setting as well, you seem to be continually on the go ;) - which can't be a bad thing! Gl for the rest of the week :)

This is the wonderful thing about being the age we are now with kids behind us and all grown up now. Hubby and i are free to go off for weekends as and when we like, so we are making the most of it. The only problem is that as we both work all week, if we take off for a weekend it feels as if we have had no rest, so it can be tiring.

Its been too long since we were last in Tenerife, and our plans for actual holidays have been turned upside down a bit with the on off dates hubby has been getting for his redundancy/retirement. We were there last 2 years ago, so we deserve a 4 week stay next year! Especially as Thailand has been put on hold now.

Oh i love the Cornwall area. We holidayed in Bude last year and it had the most gorgeous beaches and loads of lovely surrounding villages and lovely wee village pubs with great live music and great food and not too far to drive into Exeter for some shopping :)

Wow,I need to go to the Isle of Wight, may try it the next time I'm down south.. sounds like a nice place for a weekend away.

Oh that is fantastic anbout your daughter Lynn, its good she is perservering and hopefully when she sees some weight loss, it will spur her on.

How exciting to be planning some lovely trips away, its nice to make the most of whats around you. But a 4 week trip to Tenerife will be lovely, at least youre guarenteed good weather xx

Going great with the Exante now that i have the bars and soups too. The soups are much nicer than i expected, and the bars taste like a really nice treat, although slightly on the sweet side, but the toffee one is yummy.

Im doing a shake for breakfast, bar for lunch and soup for dinner. Cant believe its over a week already since starting on it. The only sidetrack from it was the Indian on Saturday, but i didnt eat a lot anyway. I had quark and tuna on Sunday, but that was less than 200 cals and low carb anyway. However, my weight has not moved much this week, but im getting so close to target now that things are bound to slow down. We will see what the overall is on Saturday.

Hubby is home from Wales today, so we had a look on the internet at some hotels in Torquay and have booked a weekend at the 5 star Somerville for end of October. It looks lovely and gets really great write ups on trip advisor. Also rang father in law to tell him we will be over Saturday, we will probably get an early ferry and spend some time on the beach first if its not raining.

OMG the hotel sounds amazing Lynn! No more than you deserve though.

You are so close to your target now, I cant believe how quickly you have lost the weight, it will slow down as youre so close to your target. On all you pictures you look so slim now, so at least every pound that comes off now is a bonus to get to that target.

Have all of your work colleagues noticed the difference? I think its funny watching how people react when they havent seen you for a while, and you can almost see them judging whether they should say wow you look better, or are worried about offending and say nothing. Have you had a similar experience?

Glad Exante is going really well for you, must just be the first week like any new diet thats the worse bit.

Have a good day tomorrow xx

Its funny you should mention work colleagues, I dont see mine very often as we are all out on the road most days and rarely get into the office together. But one day last week we were in for a meeting, and one particular colleague i had not seen since March, as she was off earlier this year after having an op. Her face was a picture! She actually did not recognise me, as she looked puzzled when i said hello to her, then it dawned on her who i was. It was like 20 different expressions crossing her face all at once lol.
I do get a bit embarrassed though, when people start to enthuse about my weight loss to me. I dont know what to say to them, after all they dont go enthusing about the other slim people in the office. Its hard to know how to take it sometimes.

Aww Lynn, thats lovely to provoke such a reaction! It must have given your confidence a boost. As youre at a different stage to me, being thin now, I bet you do get some lovely reactions. There will also be others who like to get a bit of a dig in there. Whilst most are happy I'm sure, I bet all the attention must be a bit strange, but they will all get used to it as this is the new Lynn.

Bet you can't wait for the office xmas party and know now that youre going to look amazing, would love to see a pic!

Ive yet to try Quark as I messed up my mushroom soup earlier, think I will make moussake tomorrow instead with it .. at least I can make that lol!
