M-Mouse's Droppings

Oh dear, another Sunday and another BBQ! Think I did ok but am just having a rhubarb crumble for dinner! We will see with the WI tomorrow. I am starting to see why so many of you WI on fridays!

My jeans felt looser today so that was a bit of a boost, and I managed to steer clear of the apple crumble - that can only be good.

its great when the clothes feel lose isnt it ......
my lot had crumble too i had a glass of pepsi max

My clothes are getting looser too, going to wait till I loose another 10lbs before I treat myself to another pair though, but my size 16s are fine now. Dh wanted me to make crumble yesterday but I ran out of time and forgot ;)

I love crumble!

I just French googled Crumble to see whether any inventive cooks have come up with an acceptable Dukan friendly version. I found this if anyone's brave enough to have a go and report back in:

- 4 tablespoons of oatbran ) therefore 2 for two days
- 2 tablespoons of wheatbran )
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon of cornflour (tolerated food - Cruise only)
- 1 tablespoon of fat free fromage frais

It says to mix the brans together. Then add the other dry ingredients to get a well mixed powder. Then add the tablespoon of fat free fromage frais. With your finger tips, mix to obtain a more "lumpy" crumble mixture.

Cool in fridge.

Preheat your oven, hottest setting.
Place crumble mixture on your fruit.
Bake for 15 mins. Top should be crispy, below softer...

I'm tempted!

Ooh, will try this with some ginger in the dry mix before adding the fromage blanc. Rhubarb crumble, food heaven. Not before Thursday though...

Thank you!

oooh and Robin, while you're around, I saw a post on a French site that Picard have now started selling frozen pain complet which will be excellent for Conso as far less tempting to have that around than the fresh equivalent!

I thought I'd make my own, slice and freeze in 40gr portions so that I can't OD. I can handle life without bread quite happily as I only really eat it with cheese. Since I can't have unlimited cheese on conso, I won't be tempted by too much bread (in theory...)

But, I'll probably get some while I'm buying the rhubarb because it's handy to have extra in the freezer anyway, thanks Jo!

Well another ok day despite a hospital appointment - luckily I listened to a friend when she told me how hard it was to park at the hospital as I had not been there before.

The kitten is settling in well but mumcat is still hissing well! The little one keeps playing with her tail - not a good move! He has started trying to suckle from my armpit - odd cat; perhaps he thinks I am his Mum :)

All this talk of crumble makes me want crumble every day; I wish I oould have rhubarb every day! I would also love some apple - I picked some from one of our trees at the weekend and tried a piece to check it was ripe but spat it out - it was delicious! It made me think of a story one of my colleagues told me the other day about when she gave up eating cakes and naughty things. One day she was so desperate for something that she 'ate' a whoel doughnut, chewing each piece and then spitting it out once chewed! I couldn't do that!!

I haven't been eating smoked mackerel because I am trying to exclude smoked fish (candida diet) but I gave in to the craving today and had some - it was delicious and I thought preferable to having something sweet.

Interesting technique re chewing and spitting, but that alas would make me feel even more challenged where food was concerned!

Someone here did say something the other day which made me think. She was doing Attack (again) and said she fancied a Mars bar but then reminded herself of how a Mars bar tasted... and could actually taste it... and the craving went. I tend to use more the "hands on ears / NO I CAN'T HEAR YOU" technique when I get cravings, which doesn't work well at weekends!!

I love smoked mackerel...

I wish I oould have rhubarb every day!

You can. Just posted the "tolerated items" in Benin's diary and "100g rhubarb" is on it for PP day... (but only if you're constipated, yeah?!!!!)

I hear ya! Everyone seems to be raving about rhubarb so I really ought to try some huh? I have memories of my Nana who'd prepare either gooseberry or rhubarb pies/crumbles for us on our obligatory visits as children and I wouldn't touch either! I don't know that I ever tried either, mind you!

Trouble is they both need some kind of sweetener. at the moment rhubarb just feel kind of illicit - sort of forbidden fruit, and as such fills a craving!

I keep forgetting about rhubarb, we have some in the garden, dont know if its ready now or if weve past the harvest time, will have to have a look, it would be also nice in a 'fool' with a bit of dukan friendly custard hmmmmm.

Is it wrong to want pudding at 9.15 am?

I had my rhubarb with my porridge, it was lovely and more like pudding than breakfast. I really want to make crumble (will try both recipes) but need an extra allowance of brans/rhubarb. I think that I'll make the crumble topping and stew the rhubarb tonight, keep both separate then bake it tomorrow morning (get up at 6.15 with eldest) and have that for breakfast.:D

If Dukan says it's allowed, then pudding for breakfast is good!

Oh now theres an idea, pudding for breakfast lol. May try the rhubarb in porridge sometime

Good morning everyone. I was please to log in this morning to see Jet's good news; hope Jordan makes a swift recovery.

For lunch today I am going to try a savoury salmon crumble, and I have two chicken in the oven (their best before date was today) for later. I seem to lose best on the days when I eat a whole chicken over the course of the day;)

I have been at the hospital again this week with my bad guts but luckily they just gave me morphne and let me go this time:)

Big cat is still hissing and swiping at little cat - but he does ask for it sometimes - she hisses at him so he'll then start trying to play with her tail or something - talk about tweaking the crocodile's tail!

The little one keeps climbing up my leg and onto my lap and then onto my desk and then onto my laptop - so all typos are his fault:) He also keeps pinching my tea

I rest my case... I've been saying this for ages!

Oh what a cutie... how lovely to have a kitten!
