M-Mouse's Droppings

Oh woe is me :sigh:

Are you ok? You seeem a bit low?

That's awful giving you a 2pm appointment for such a test... (ask if next time you can have a glass of water; last time I did a blood test where I'd been told "no drink, no food", they told me as they took the blood that I could have had a drink of water! grrrr! I always get an 8am appointment and even that isn't easy not to have a drink before for me...!!

GOOD LUCK! You're nearly there! (Brush your teeth a few times?!)

Poor Kim :( can you take something in the car to eat as soon as you get out?

Are you ok? You seeem a bit low?
just ssdd!

This will be no good for this time, but I had fasting blood tests regularly during pregnancy (I had morning ones though) and was told I could drink black tea, coffee or water beforehand, in fact was advised to do so.

(And I went to the lab with my breakfast in my bag and hotfooted it to the nearest café to eat it afterwards!)

Maybe it's just in France that they let you have a watery drink if "fasting"...

best blood test I ever had - probably looking for diabetes no doubt - was to give the blood (can't remember if I fasted or not), then I go and eat lots of SUGAR (three cakes were advised!!!), then back an hour later for another test.

Why hasn't anyone wanted to do that one to me again??????? I'm game whenever they are!

Yup, that's what I had in pregnancy too for diabetes check except I had to drink 50gr glucose mixed with water (think liquid icing), then bloods were taken at hourly intervals. I had higher blood sugar:sigh: so had to have a retest the next month with 100gr glucose. I can still taste it, it was awful (why could I not have had cakes?) Ironically, wasn't allowed sugar after (no choc at Christmas) and had to cut down on the 'healthy' carbs too. Should have known that this Dukan diet would work, I 'only' put on 8 kilos for that pregnancy (and for the next one, I cut sugar out from the start and less carbs and only put on 7 - 4 of which were baby). Blah, blah, boring pregnancy/baby stuff, sorry.

Lol Laura :)

Oh only 40 ish mins till kim can have some food!

Maybe cos the lab was next to a baker's?!

That would figure - the lab is next to the pharmacy! Oh and a luxury shoe shop - maybe I could have drunk it out of a hand-made shoe!:D

N.B.: always find a lab near a baker's. You never know...! (Mind you, baker's are few and far between in the UK these days!)

I'm back!! One blood test, then sugary drink (no cakes!!) then I had to sit around for 2 hours then another blood test. Then devoured 3/4 of a chicken when I got home! I thought I might get lynched, because they told me to go straight to their little blood taking room after the two hours, and there was a huge waiting area full of people and they were all casting evils in my direction!!

With one of the gut tests I had the consultant told me that I would be fed a mars bar and then they would watch it go through my system. Imagine my dismay when all I got was a nasty tasting meal replacement drink:D

Oh bugger thats a bit of a blow to the diet though all that sugar?

I'd sooner have had the Mars bar than sugary drink... pffft! Bet you were glad to get your teeth into that chicken mind... (I can just imagine the headlines in your local newspaper, with a photo to prove it. Woman seen DEVOURING whole chicken in laboratory car park...)

lmao Jo - that would be funny! Kim sitting in her car with chicken all over her face :D

Kind of like Mr Bean with his raw turkey on his head, but with a cooked chicken!

Hehe, Manda staggering round the carpark with her head up a (cooked) chicken.

Sorry you missed out on the mars bar, Manda:(.

(I bet they love watching people struggle to swallow their concoctions)

*sadistic sods*

stop it stop it you're going to make me splutter my first cup of tea of the day all over the place

I didn't think about the sugar - it didn't even taste nice:mad:

Thanks - the Friends of the hospital kiosk did look rather tempting:D - although I'm not sure even I could eat a whole kiosk, till and all <boob boom>
