Matt's Journey: Yesterdays Tomorrow

Ok, so annoyingly, he didnt take the right measurements to calculate fat loss and muscle growth, even though he kept telling me he could.

Here are the measurements he did take:

Resting Heart Rate 75 bpm to 64 bpm = 11 bpm improvement
Weight 133kg to 127.9kg - 5.6kg loss which matches my calc
Waist 135cm to 129cm 6cm loss
Hip 133cm to 128cm = 5cm loss
Skinfold Tricep 38mm to 34mm = 31% BF to 30% BF
Skinfold Bicep 32mm to 24mm - I think didnt write this one down but it was a massive movement.
Flexibility:
Hamstrings 9cm stretch improvement
Quads 6cm stretch improvement
Shoulders 5cm stretch improvement

So everything is improving just a tad peeved that the BF wasnt taken more accurately. I have ordered my own calipers now as it is a measurement I think is worth tracking.

oh and weirdly his scales are about 6lbs lighter than mine, and the dr's are the same as his so I may not be as fat as I think I am :D

Those measurements are fantastic Matt. Keep up the good work, you are doing so well! :)

You're doing great, those are huge improvements! Unfortunately, the fat loss is slower the bigger you are. 2lbs of say 300lbs is a lower percentage than say of 200lbs so your BF% might be slower coming down at first but it'll catch up.

Thanks.

Hopefully my caliper will be here by the weekend, I think the mrs is going to enjoy pinching me with it :cry:found a website the other day with 8 or so different ways of calculating BF%

Have upped my calories this week averaging 2,000 and my excercise has been slightly decreased. This change I think will give me around an average 1300 calorie a day deficit as opposed to the 1600 calorie a day deficit I have previously had.

Will be interesting to see what changes it makes to the scales tomorrow.

2lbs off this week, which is far better than 1, will keep a slightly higher calorie count for the next week and see how things continue.

You're doing great, just keep with it.

Matt does a little Jig, 3lbs off this week.

I'm a day late weighing in as I had to work away for an extra night this week, so maybe that influenced it.

Kept calories slightly higher again.

Also got blood results back and have nothing wrong with me.

Only 2lbs to go to get out of the 20stone range. actually is it 3lbs. If I am 20st 2lb and lose 2lb does that make me 19st 13lb :D and me an accountant.

Woop woop!!!! 3lbs is fab. Well done Matt, your hard work is paying off. Did your calliper thingys arrive?? :)

2lbs is great, well done!

Calipers arrived last Friday, I had a quick go, there actually a little more awkward to use than I thought they would be especially around the tummy.

I was ill last weekend and then have been away working so will try have a go with them today at some point, but it will be a starting measurement rather than an update one.

 its been 3 months since I last updated which seems a bit crazy.

Quite a bit has changed, I went through a period of about 9 weeks only loosing 3lbs in total which was very depressing, I stuck to calorie counting and exercising the whole time, even went back to the Dr's all they did was give me a leaflet on calorie counting :D

5 weeks ago I changed jobs internally which means I am no longer working away from home and staying in hotels, I now commute daily into London, this posed a challenge of how I would fit in the exercise, as I have had to knock the Personal Trainer on the head and can no longer easily get to the gym (as I'm out 7am till 8pm).

I decided to join slimming world, and have been there for 3weeks, during that time I have lost 10lbs which is pretty good going infact its more in 3 weeks than I lost in 3 months calorie counting. Its going quite well, typically I make dinner and then whats left I have as lunch, I plan meals I guess for 5 days of the week, so when in a routine it works out nicely, bank holidays actually through me off a bit.

Exercise is still an issue, I started running with the dogs rather than walking them (at like 9pm) and I have used the Barclays bikes in london rather than the tube a few times, wet weather has prevented this for the last couple of weeks though, I think the walking in the commute is also helping. I plan on buying some home weights and bench as well.

Also short on time now, as I lose 4hrs a day to the commute so behind on adminy type stuff like updating here.

I often feel things are going so slowly, I was hoping when I started to drop weight quite quickly, but then I look at my total which is now 35lbs since beginning of the year and think actually its not that bad, slowly I will get the weight off, the 9 week plateau just seems like such a waste of time.

Anyway, I weigh I weight in later today at SW and am hoping to get into the 18s, having starting in the 21s need 3 lbs I think.

Will update the first couple of tabs with progress, note that my 3 weeks at SW (4 being today) are at different points to my weight loss record I did have (SW is tuesday mine was thursday) so its a longer period than 3 weeks on here  confused? good.

2lbs off last week and 2.5lbs off this week, puts the grand total at 39.5lbs, so hoping by the end of July I will have hit a total of 50lb. Really enjoying SW, weather is improving so able to get out a bit more to exercise. Also investing in a home weight bench to follow the strong lift 5x5 programme as its something I can do even if its raining.

Also just to add i dropped down into the 18's and if I can get 2.5lbs off again next week that would be 3stone in total (I just got my 1 stone award at SW)

Thanks Auburn,

Only half a pound off last night, which is a little disappointing and I wasnt expecting it.

I havent eaten out (which I had done the previous couple of weeks), and I didnt buy any or eat any icecream which I had also been dong, so I was expecting a decent loss. Only thing I can think of is the first couple of days of the week I had beans on an red day and didnt count them as syns, and I had quite a bit of cheese.

The other thing I did this week was buy heavier weights and I trained on Monday so perhaps I had some extra water retention or something. I bought the bench about 3 weeks ago now, and it came with 30kgs I just upped the weights to 45kgs.

Hopefully will lead to a much larger loss next week, am not to concerned as I am sure I was better then usual, and I have finally started noticing the clothes getting a little to large, nearly 3 stone lost and I am only just needing a new pair of trousers :), have already dug out some old shirts that fit again.

Anyway, hope next week will give a better result, will probably start updating myfitness pal which has been a bit slack since starting SW.

3lb off this week, really pleased. I did work hard for it though have run 3 times, stuck to SW 100% and have done my weight training, would be over the moon if It wasnt for the fact I only lost 0.5lbs last week, so some of the 3lb may relate to that, but hey at least the average is not to bad, just happy I havent plateaued again.

3 Stone total loss now, 43lbs, next milestones will be 1.5stone SW award and hitting 18.5stone, then its on to the 50lbs milestone, although before I get carried away this weekend is my 30th and the following weekend I'm at a wedding so I suspect if I maintain over the next 2 weeks I will be doing well.
