May money challenge

I went over budget :-(

It's ok though, I've spent 190 on getting car through mot and 175 on tax and had to use 150 savings so not too bad, need to do better in June though!

Lol holidays are worth the spend though.
You could just edit the title of the thread and change it to June if you wanted to xx

I think the op is the only one who can do that not sure tho.

Holidays are a godsend for me, when they are someplace warm, it's so lovely not to be in pain everyday! Which is why I try and go as much as I can but after booking next years, I'm feeling like I should really start saving instead of spending, especially as so many people are struggling ATM.

(Not religious but damn, catholic sunday school gave me wicked guilt issues lol)

Xxx

I have to get mine done soon too as its expiring this year...such a lot of money!!!

done my budgeting, I have £100 a week for food, diesel/petrol for the vehicles, sliming world fees plus any other stuff that comes up.

Sounds a lot bit I have trips to London, Oxford, glastonbury and Milton Keynes to pay for, ouch!!! Some make diesel 50p a liter please?!

Bloody money pits :( least it's done and out of the way, here's to a better June :)

Well I have my mot in June so there is an extra expense.really really want to go away somewhere. Need to save though.

Quick scan through my receipts to see where it all went so so wrong....

I've learnt a few things!

1. I rely on the joint account way too much! I spent over 70 on things solely for me.
2. I buy way to much pre packed fruit thinking its healthier than eating breakfast, so wrong on so many levels!

Few other boring things but definitely too much convenience buying, oh and I spent nearly the same on meat as alcohol!!!

Things WILL be changing in June!

I've thought of a few ways to tweak the month.

I'm going to get a 3 month prepayment card for scripts, will make my money back on it in a month LOL. But i'm going to order a few gos during the few months and stock up, should be able to get 6 months worth in 3 months :) so that saves me about £70!!!

Ive gone and started to type in the new shiney June thread as I'm ready to start again as of now!!!

I have no money left for may, I checked my Credit Card and there is £297.19 on it, thats how much I overspent in May by, I will pay it off with Savings (boooooooo!!!!) and start afresh in June.

Feeling really good about knowing the damage already though!!

I have to say this thread has really helped. For months we've been at least £100-200 overdrawn by the time payday arrives and I'm pleased to say hubby got paid today and we still had just over £40 in the account :)
I know £40 isn't a great deal of savings but its so much better than us being overdrawn.

I get paid this Friday too. I'm looking forward to having another challenge in June to see what we can save xxx

Like very much!!!!!

Tonight I updated my excel spreadsheet with revised ddm amounts etc & when I get paid on Friday I'll check my bank account to see if I went overdrawn as I don't know, bad I know. I'm food shopping tomorrow night & subbing DD as she has no food in & doesn't get paid until 7th so I need to factor that in when I do my figs on Friday.

I'm going to work out how much I have left to 'spend' the rest of the month. I have though, just bought a new iPad to replace the one I lost on hols, but I bought a used one of ebay & it cost just(?) £365 instead of the £500 it could have cost I'm hoping to put it on a 0% on purchases credit card, I am very good as the card won't be used willy nilly, the iPad is really for OH but I'd like my own & I'm in two minds whether to get myself a used iPad as well & put this on the credit card. Think I'll see how this one goes first. I've got the car tax to pay end of this month & then the MOT which I need to factor in as well, oh my word it doesn't get any better does it, lol.

I squirreled away £490 last month by jiggling things around.

My squirreled account balance over the last few months is £1,682.98.I've saved this just by buying only food I need each day and no impulsive buying.I'm not going to buy dvd's or cd's any more as I buy them but never watch or listen to them.I have a pile that isn't opened.I always have the radio on while reading,TV hardly goes on now.My cupboards of spices etc is nearly empty. They will only be replaced once I have used them all up.I have something like 5 diff chicken with seasoning and I only have chicken with that on once a week so why do I need all those jars.Fish I have twice a week but only put seasoning on once a week yet got 5 jars of fish seasoning.

I never thought I could save money as I always took advantage of 'offers' and if I wanted not needed something I would always buy it.

OH has an account where £600 gets transferred into and this pays for petrol and anything he needs or wants to buy. Most months he saves £300 and anything he puts on credit card he pays off every month.

I think because OH is being made redundant next year I am more determined then before to save as much as I can.
It can be done and you can still enjoy life.:)

EDIT: Went out into the lean to and the plastic roof has a hole in it. Now I need to find money for that somewhere. Will go on Freecycle later and see if anyone has a spare piece lying around they don't need.Or another site I like using is Streetlife.
You do so well hun, am mighty impressed and will be following your tricks! :)
