Total Solution Mere's Diary

Just realised I am exactly at the half way point of my Exante journey. I have lost 11.5lbs and have 11.5lbs to go it has taken 6 weeks so maybe another 6 - 8 weeks should do it. That feels good. :D

Of course you can Mere, and i have no doubt you will. Even without speedy losses you have remained very determined and foccused, and are already half way! You are going to reach your goal and i believe you will stay there xx

Hi Girls
Did a big supermarket shop today for my son, it is the first time I have done a proper shop since starting Exante. Half way through the shop I began feeling very light headed and sick. It is the first time I have felt ill on this diet. I had a bar before I went shopping and a large drink of water. Has anyone else experienced this? Any comments or suggestions will be gratefully received.

Sorry to hear that Mere, Must have been quite scary for you xx I read that not enough water can cause that, on the Exante website. Im not sure how accurate that is though and i hope you dont experience that again xx

"If you do not have enough water you will become dehydrated which can lead to constipation (not nice but it will happen if you don't drink enough), headaches, lowering of blood pressure, (causing dizziness) and cramps. So make sure you drink plenty of fluids regularly through the course of the day. The amount of water you need varies from person to person so make sure you are having enough to feel comfortable. A guide for water consumption throughout the day is around 2-4 litres. (it can be harmful to consume large volumes of water or other fluids in a short space of time)."

Hi ED
I don't think I was dehydrated because I had drunk quite a bit of water before I came out and half a litre of sparkling water just before going into the supermarket. Maybe my blood pressure had dropped
It was a very unpleasant experience and all I kept thinking was am I going to have to come off this diet when I am half way there. :(
I have been fine since I came back home. Thanks for doing that little bit of research for me. :)

Hi Mere, hope you're ok. Yes I've had the same. I have shakes and porridge and if you drink lots and also exercise which you do it may be you need salt. Drink some bouillon or put some salt in porridge. Apparently drinking lots of water flushes salts and minerals out. You might need to add a meal now you're so close to the end? You are very active. Hope all is ok. X

Thanks Angel
I am allergic to salt so that is out I am afraid. If it happens again I will try adding another pack although I am reluctant to do so incase I stop losing.

Goodness, allergic to salt, that must be tricky. Hope you find a solution and don't feel that way again. Take it easy for a bit.

Thanks Angel
I am so used to not having salt that it doesn't bother me any more.

Thats fab Mere- you've done so well!

I hope your feeling better now after your supermarket experience :)

Hope you're feeling better mere, sounds like your blood pressure dropped. Maybe an extra pack or half a bar might help now and again? I didn't think there could be an allergy to salt! How does it affect you? Xx

I had the light headed thing before mere. ... I drank more water which seemed to resolve it :)
Your sisters party sounds like it might be a good do :)
You will be able to choose sensible low carb stuff mere, and come back to us when you get home :D
You still have 2 weeks until then, so closer to goal ;)

It may feel like you drunk enough but if. It happens again drink more anyway!! We always use water to stable slight changes in BP and even a small drop can cause you to become light headed xx

Hi all you girls who came up with advice about my incident in the supermarket. When I got back home I drank loads of water and immediately felt better. The smell and look of all the different food was causing me to feel sick so I think on reflection perhaps there was a combination of things going on in my body and brain.
I will not be supermarket shopping again for a while and I will keep drinking loads of water. :)

Hi Ali
If I eat anything with salt on it my lips break out in blisters. Even one crisp or salted peanut can do it. I can't stand the taste of salt in any food I seem to be super sensitive to the taste of salt and will be sick if I swallow salty food. I just avoid salt do not cook with it and do not eat ready meals or take aways.
