Are you meeting Princess Ann? I once met Princess Diana with Ester Ransen when I represented Deaf Education in Ayrshire and they had just opened a new Child Line service suitable for deaf children. I say Princess Diana because she was still HRH at the time.

Mere, what do you eat on a normal day ?
Are you still doing a half exante half food type thing ?

I have a shake for breakfast, sometimes a piece of fruit mid morning, a shake or bar at lunch and usually either fish or chicken with salad or veg. I have had the odd glass of wine when socialising. I should be losing weight as the most I have is 1200 cals. According to MFP I am not eating enough and may have put my body into starvation mode. I will be at Skye for a few days on the 24 the but will try TS when I get back.

Sounds a very healthy and disciplined diet to me Mere. Maybe it is down to starvation mode, I don't know. But then I do remember you was a tough cookie to squeeze a lb out of last year and you had to work harder than most to get yours off. But you did it xx

You are right ED I have to work very hard to lose weight but I have just been diagnosed with an underactive thyroid which explains it. x

Today my exercise was walking. Used up 450 cals so pleased with that. I have to begin walking up hills in preparation for my holiday.

I have an under active thyroid. I have done for nearly 20 years.
How long have you been on meds for Mere ?
They will take a good few weeks to kick in and even out
Although, in my case it was purely over eating and drinking that caused my weight gain

I have been on the meds for about 6 weeks. I don't feel any different. x

It depends how often they test your blood to see if they are working. Initially I got tested every 3 months. But now its once a year. I have been on the same amount now for about ten years.
I thought when I lost weight it would means the dosage amount would reduce. But that wasn't the case.
Initially it can make you gain weight. But the meds sometimes dont make you lose weight , which is a bummer !

I have cold feet every time I think of the mountain. Been on the Gekko site and seen the pictures it looks difficult! This holiday is expensive so I better enjoy it! x

You're very brave, I'd be crying from now till I got on the plane - it will be an amazing achievement and I'm sure you will love it xx

Exciting meeting Princess Ann.
I won't be able to take heart rate monitor or fit bit as there will be no facility to charge it. We are away for 20 days only about 5 are in hotels the rest are, long houses, mountain hut, jungle camp, jungle shelters and homes of natives. It is a real adventure but I wanted to do all the adventure stuff before I got too old. I reckon I have about 5 years to do them as then I will be 70 and I can't see myself sleeping on floors etc at that age!

You're just making me want to retire more and more. I'll be 60 in May so need to start getting my adventures planned too! That being said my mother will be 88 in September and still goes on cruises!

That is great that your mum still cruises. I went a river cruise with my mum 2 years ago when she was 82 but she was in hospital a few months ago and has gone from being a very active octogenarian to a wee delicate old lady, it is sad to see but at least she has loads of memories of wonderful holidays. It has taught me to grab life when you can because you never know what is round the corner. x
