My 12 Week Challenge starting today - Anyone care to join? - LETS DO IT!!

I'm also a obsessive scale hopper and I should stop it - I tend to stay away from the scale when I have a "fat" day... when I feel bloated.... but its when I've been 100% that the temptation to get on the scale is great! I hopped on this morning, from 4 days of NOT weighing and was pleasantly surprised. I like that feeling! I want more of it - and so thats whats driving me today - to have that feeling again on Friday at WI.

Vixy, is making a muffin or whatever from the shake mix allowed on SS (I'm curious as it sounds so nice!)

2.8litres down and my eyeballs are swimming..... taking water retention tabs in case I'm retaining water.... \My consultant is now 3 years off the diet and STILL drinks her 3-4litres of water a day..... I think I could do 2 litres easily, but 3-4 is pushing it for me.

Yeah to all of you girls!! I can see some fantastic progress out here!!!....Isn't it wonderful to feel in control of our emotions and lives?? :)....I have successfully completed 7 days on SS without any cheating and running into the eighth day. I have had HUGE cravings, over the last 7 days, but did not derail, thankfully! Since I do not go in for regular weigh ins with my CDC, due to geographical constraints and my schedule, I will only be able to check my weight on Friday when I get back home. Though there are weighing balances available out here, I prefer to check on my own weighing scale at home, as it will give me the exact picture of how much I have lost. I really hope I am below 70kg when I weigh next. It will be one mini milestone for me!!! The only worrying thing is that it is almost that time of the month. I am expecting it anytime this week. Sometimes I think I should check my weight only after my Aunt Flo has come and gone as the water retention is sure to make me hold on a few pounds....Keep rocking girls!!! We should be all SUPER proud of ourselves!!!:bunnydance::D

WELL DONE Georgous!!!! You are an inspiration! Wow, 70kgs...LOL... thats my goal weight! I've a long way to go still....

Are you taking water retention tabs??

Hey Jilly!

Yeah the muffin is great (ish) although takes a little practice... Smells better than it tastes but still. This is how you make it....

in a small ramekin dish (I have a plastic one) put your powder in. Mix with a little water (only try a little at a time as you dont want it too watery). It should be the consistency of a thick cake mix to a dough. I put mine in the microwave for 90 seconds until it feels slightly crusty/spongey to the touch - do it for longer if its still soft... turn out onto a cooling rack. It does rise and become spongey. If its done too long its more like a biscuit. Too much water it doesnt cook so well.

You need to have more water if you have this as you dont mix it with as much. Also, I wouldnt advise having them tooooooo often as I expect nuking a shake in the microwave will lose some of the nutrients..... Keeps me on track though :)

Hope it helps xx

I know exactly what you are talking about Jillybeans! I feel bloated right now because of my expected Aunt Flo, and that will be the only reason that I may not hop on the scales on Friday, because I know that I will always weigh 1-2 kg more during that time. Otherwise I am a serial weigher just like you. It is a powerful motivator for me! In fact, if I had not been expecting Aunt Flo, I would have probably grabbed the weighing scales from somewhere, just to check my weight. But I also know that only the same scale that we use everytime will give us the accurate picture. I had a good moment yesterday, when my hubby looked at me and told me that he felt like there is a visible change in my face. He said that it appears that my face has leaned out and my jawline has become more defined (this is coming from a man who is rarely makes compliments, so I was even more thrilled!)...Honestly, I felt it too, but thought I was imagining it until my hubby confirmed it by the comments he made yesterday....Today, I truly feel that I have begun to push past the worst part...My cravings have subsided considerably, and I am feeling good overall, despite the bloated feeling. :)

Thanks Jillybeans for those kind words :) No, I have not tried water retention tabs. I am not aware of it actually. Has it been recommended by your CDC? If so, which brand?

Loving the creative smilies on this thread!!!!!!!

Day one... done (well not quite but I am in bed trying not to think about food). I figure the bedroom is further away from the kitchen, not that there is anything in there anyway, and closer to the bathroom.

But I am starving, and can't wait to get back in ketosis, and kicking myself for having got out of it in the first place. Moan, moan, moan.

1 day down... 83 to go.

Keep going Chlo! YOU CAN DO THIS!!! :D

Hello gorgeous ladies, I step away from the computer 48hrs and all h*ll breaks loose? Ah such is life...
I am still going strong, fighting the urge not to hop on the scale so much, esp after weekend (didnt really drink as I should have) I was down 6.5 yesterday, hopped on the scales this morning up .5 lbs sooo, THAT is exactly why I try not to get on the scales so often. Wednesday is my official weigh in so I still have time to lose a pound. I've done this diet 3x now  (not proud) and this will be the lowest I lose on the first week (usually around 10-12 lbs) so I'm not going to try to read in the future and set myself up for failure... who knows, next week I may lose the same amount right? :thinking2:

I stopped feeling sick (brief uncomf. period Sat or Sun I think), but my period has returned . I just had it 2 weeks ago! Just plain wrong!
So ladies, drink up your water today, should be the goal

I agree 100%! Water, water and more water....That is one area I really need to focus on...:sigh:

Slim, I totally get this serial weighing thing which is why I dont own scales. I dont even know my start weight so compliments and face changes, looser clothes, ketostix etc dont half help... Aunt Flo gain is only water though so take comfort in the other indicators that you are losing - like purple test sticks :) xx

That looks like a great tip I may try Vixy ...but I do agree with you...shakes will lose their nutritional value when popped in the microwave, so not a good idea to do it too often....

Not sleeping too well. Anyone else finding this?

Yeah I get insomnia when in ketosis... at the mo am exhausted but in a couple of weeks I will be bounding out of (and hopefully in! haha rude) bed at 6am!

I think its also the excitement of losing and having control that makes me hyper!

I agree - although definately a better option that grabbing a piece of toast or a real muffin if you just need the chew factor :17729:

Vixy, can I be honest with you?? Please do check your present weight now. If you find it difficult to check it yourself, you should do what I did when I was at my highest weight. I bought a digital scale when I first started the SS (this is my second attempt, in case you don't know) and hopped onto it, and asked my hubby to check my weight and record it somewhere but not tell me the weight. I was a whopping 90kg (almost 200lb) when I first checked my starting weight. Of course, I never knew it at that time, because my hubby was the one who had checked it for me. I also told my CDC not to tell me my weight until I wanted to know. And you know what? The weekly losses inspired me to keep going. When I began to get raving complements about my looks, my curiosity got the better of me, and I decided that it was time to know my weight. I had lost 20kg! Ever since then, I have been a serial weigher. :D Before I knew it I had lost 25kg (55lb)! Of course, due to me going on vacation and a lot of parties, I regained about 9kg (20lb) but you know what? I am not so worried anymore, because I KNOW it is just a matter of time, before I lose that weight again...And yes, I do know that serial weighing is not good, but it helps me stay on track. But I would advise you to take a record of your starting weight, so you feel really proud about how far you have come at the end of 12 weeks...If you do not want to know your weight right now, ask someone close to you to keep a record of your starting weight, and tell them not to tell you, until you want to know...Believe me, as hard as it sounds, you should do it....I've been there...and I know that this is what will truly drive you down the successful path, and motivate you to achieve your weight loss goals...all you need to know are the weekly losses, not your weight...until you decide that it is time for you to know....Come on babe, you can do this!! Trust me...you will thank me for this, 12 weeks from now....:)

For those of you at this weight presently, please do not take offence. I am a really petite woman (5 ft 2 inches)...and 90kg is definitely super obese for someone of my height...But I am sure that the tall ladies carry of this weight pretty well!! :)

Mmmmm... that muffin sounds delish (I can smell it!) I know on the pack it says DO NOT MIX WITH HOT WATER so I assume its coz it will decrease the vitamin content..... I'll ask my consultant about it on Friday (she doesnt like me, so I think she'll say no)...

I agree with slimgorgeous, get someone to take your starting weight - you want to know what your loss is at the end dont you?

I only weigh on my own home scale, and I only weigh first thing in the morning as if I weigh in the evening I can be up to 2kgs MORE! You should weigh on the same scale every week.

It FEELS SO GOOD when people actually acknowledge and notice the weight loss. My mom was away for 2 weeks and saw me yesterday and noticed my loss immediately!

Vicky, I've done this 3x now (2 times too many IMO) but I know what you're talking about - First time I was cleaning like a mad woman from top to bottom I had so much energy! Up by 6 am etc
2nd time around not so much, I felt worn down, exercising was hard, heck just doing basic things in life was hard.
This time I think it's gonna be like the first. I was up before the alarm this morning despite having gone to bed quite late last night and i felt rested! What a change... One thing I don't like though which happens in the first weeks for me is that I get nightmares or very very strange dreams. Oh well as long as the weight is dropping that's all I ask!

FairyHobNob I just noticed your weight loss...10lb in a week!! That is super babe!!:wow:

Thanks sooo much Gorgeous!

Not sure what it is but today I feel like something has just clicked. Don't feel hungry and for the first time I don't feel overwhelmed by the weeks ahead of me. The fact that I've stuck to it 100% no cheating for one week means I can do it 11 times more and some of you are already weeks in! I'm so proud of us girlys.

How is everyone else feeling about the remainder of the challenge? xx

Just remember, the innitial loss is fast - then is slows down.... so I rekon about 6.5kgs (14lbs) is the 'average'??

Yay you! Yay me! LOL! Here's to a cheat free day!

So, how has today been, have you made it through without any cheats?
I always find that is by now that I fancy raiding the fridge x
