My Before, During and After Thread!

I don't know what I'd do without you guys, thanks so much for all your comments. It's really dissapointing, and I feel like non CD people will think I've cheated! Normally when I've been sticking to plan & had a low loss I'd throw in the towel but I've stuck to it, even at the party last night, I had water & my bar before I went & stayed strong :)

The men were looking at me with pure pity when I was telling them what I could(n't) eat, lol! I don't think they realise how hard dieting is ;P People were saying that I've lost loads & look good. Got a few double takes but I had my hair curly so that could have been why.

I felt really good though, not like the fat girl :)

DS's DS came Thursday night! The guy in the van brought it, so that was a massive relief, I got him a mario skin for it, he loves it.

My diet plate came, the portion sizes are pretty good, not what I'm used to of course but not tiny. Might get the female one & bowl too, incase I ever need to cut back in future.

Posted this on Shanny's diary but I'll post here too.

I'm going to do CD for 3 more weeks after this one, then I'm going to move up the plans with regular low carb low cal protein shakes & bars & vitamins, & then do maintenance with my male diet plate & dukan protein Thursdays, plus protein shakes for breakfast and portion control/treats twice a week. Bit of a mish mash but a LOT of thought has gone into it, lol!

I hope I get a good loss next week. Thinking about it, my ketostix haven't been pink since I started with the bars, don't know whether to give them up, will my losses be better? Can cope with the hunger I've been having. Also, when do I move to 810? Could that be slowing down my losses too? That I need more calories? If anyone can tell me (Lily) I'd be really grateful ;P


Just got DS & SO ice creams, doesn't bother me as much anymore, been cooking for SO again too. :)
 
LOL Shanny, I gave one of the creme eggs away! A guy at work had his stolen out of the kitchen so I gave him one of mine :) Nice aren't I? There's still one for you though :p

Just reading that last post "The guy in the van brought it" How random does that sound?! I mean the postman in the van, as opposed to the one who walks :p
 
Keep forgetting things, lol! My CDC brought me 4 cranberry bars instead of mint!! They're like, the worst ever! She's swapping them tomorrow though, thank God.

Watched the wedding on TV, thought it was lovely, she looked amazing & the kisses were so sweet. I'm not a huge Royalist but I loved it all. She looked gorgeous at night too, a bit skinny though, lol.

Slowing down your losses? :D LOL, you've had one week where you 'only' lost a pound (and in my book, that should've happened last week, so you were already ahead of the game ;)). Nope, bars make no difference in the medium term. In the short term, they might make you retain more water, but that'll only show up for one week and then you'll lose your ordinary amount of weight the next week. I don't think it's worth the hardship of giving them up, to be honest.

Even if you were to stop eating them right now, you might get an additional bit of water weight off this week - which will only go straight back on once you start going up the plans because it wouldn't be fat loss, it'd be water loss. There isn't a big enough calorie difference between the bars and shakes for it to be anything else. It's not real - I think that's what I'm trying to say, probably very badly. :)

As for going on 810, you need to start 810 once your BMI reaches 25 (and by that, I mean 25.1-ish rather than 25.9ish, if you see what I mean).

Now, hang in there, okay? You've lost 16 pounds in 4 weeks (and you didn't have much to lose in the first place!). That's amazing - you've done soooo brilliantly. :clap: :clap: :clap:

sounds like youve put alot of thought into your plans for maintenece, thats great, you'll be soilid mentally when the time comes ( rather soon too )

I was meaning, with the ketosis comment, will I actually lose more weight by being in ketosis as opposed to still having the same no of calories but not being in ketosis with the extra carbs in the bars, if that makes sense?

Ohhh... Light bulb. :D

You probably still are in ketosis eating the bars, no matter what the ketostix say - they're notoriously unreliable and no use at all for anyone whose body is very efficient in using the ketones it makes. Only excess ketones spill over into the urine you see, so if you're making a perfect amount of ketones, there won't be any in your wee. :)

But even if you weren't in ketosis, it wouldn't make any difference to how fast you shed pounds. I think you might be thinking of Atkins' claim that being in ketosis gives you a metabolic advantage. That's to do with being able to eat more calories without you putting on weight so long as they're the right kind of calories (i.e., not from carbs). Having said that, most scientificky people don't actually believe that's true. Anyway, true or not, on Cambridge you just don't eat enough calories full stop for it to make any difference at all.

This is an excellent message- explains why we have ketones and then none at different times of day maybe??

I got hung up on Ketostix last time I did CD and was terrified of not being in Ketosis because of the hunger.

Atkins...I managed to gain on it even when i Ketosis. There is only so much duck fat and double cream a body can take, lol

Good God, could I be any more annoyed?!!? I just did a huge post, added a smily which went to the top, clicked delete & my browser went back & deleted the lot!!! :mad::mad::mad::mad:

Here I go again,

Guess who ended up eating a Cranberry bar last night & will be doing for the rest of the week more than likely?!!? :mad:

I had a big pissy rant to SO, then 30 mins later I burped & started off about it all over again lol!

I'm ordering my protein for maintenance today, can't decide between chocolate, cookies & cream, strawberry & vanilla! I'm getting 2 lots. They are so cheap, £11 for 40 servings! My BIL told me about them, he's lost 4 stones healthy eating/weight training.

Tomorrow is my Dad's 2 year anniversary of the day he died. I miss him soo much, he was a bodybuilder/health fanatic with lo salt, fructose, carob, the lot. He had heart disease though, had a quadruple bypass then 10 years later had to have a leg amputated due to the artery not working. Then 4 months later he died of a massive heart attack at 64, just as he was getting physio with his artificial leg & we thought his health problems were better. I miss him not only because he was my Dad but because he was such an amazingly kind, well liked man. At the funeral people were stood up at the back as there weren't enough seats, and it was a big church! He was always upbeat, always happy and on the go. I'm gutted my DS won't know him.

I wrote him a letter & asked the funeral director to put it in his pocket when he was buried, telling him I would lose the weight. He never went on at me about it but he did try to encourage me. It's taken me a while, but I hope he would be proud of what I've achieved, and will do when I get to goal.
 
God, I hope I haven't depressed anyone there! He was a big practical joker, he liked to jump out from behind chairs when we were watching scary films, even crawl accross the floor to make you jump! And he used to put the hot spoon from making a brew on the back of my step brothers necks (which sounds like child cruelty, but they were grown up, lol) . He told DS his leg had been bitten off by a crocodile :D He was great to be around.
