My Diary

Sounds a pretty typical experience for a Northern Ireland hospital. Hope you get some news soon

my weekend diet consisted of wine, rasberry mojitos, vodka and curry ;)

Much love x

Not all in the same glass I hope  Sounds like fun anyway!
I did weigh in and have put 4 pounds on. Not surprising and it's TOTM too so it's head down and keep going. Tickers will be changed!

Thanks, everyone for your support, I really appreciate it.

PS I did say I wanted to get out of the 180s, I obviously didn't make it clear to the god of weightloss that it was the 170s I was aiming at...

lol
im sure you will get into the 170's soon enough!!! you can do it i know you can!

Just a quick update. Blood results today are all normal which is great news (testing for Coeliac disease among other things) but still doesn't tell us what IS wrong. On we go....

That's great news (well that it isn't coeliac disease). Did they test for Crohns as well?

Will they perhaps just label it IBS?

i have a friend who has Crohns....
well glad its not Coeliac disease but what a pain that they still dont know......

good luck getting through to the problem!

Rather confusingly I've just had my GP on the phone. Apparently there is a 5% chance of a false negative on the Coeliac test and his symptoms are so typical (including weirdy things that no-one could make up, like abnormal enamelling of his teeth) that they want to put him on a gluten free diet for a month and see if things improve. To that end he has left me a prescription for all his gluten-free staples. That's something I suppose, we'll give it a shot.

Worth a try I guess.

I know tescos have a gluten free section but I've heard that you're better making your own bread (I guess that depends on your cooking ability! :p)

well at least they are trying.. but still doesnt give you an answer... but hopefully this next month, will be able to get through it, and be better off. :)

Hi KB - sorry I've been a bit of a crap mini-friend lately!
How is the gluten free trial going? Did they tell you whether you would notice a difference straight away if it does turn out to be Coeliacs?
Really hope you get to the bottom of this soon - I know Coeliac Disease isn't something you'd wish on anybody, but if eating gluten free, means a healthy, happy little boy then it's better to know than still be in the dark.

Hope you're well too - are you on track to whip my ass this week? :D

The trial is going well so far, it's going to be trial and error to see what he likes and doesn't like but so far so good. The long life bread the doctor gave us is a bit dodgy but he likes it toasted, I bought some fresh gluten free stuff in Sainsburys at the weekend and it is better for sandwiches. The doctor also gave us pasta so he'll try some of that tonight. So far he thinks it's Christmas cos I bought him loads of nice things to break him in gently but that will have to stop, no more gluten free brownies or custard creams!
On the upside he didn't have a sore tummy all day yesterday which is a miracle although they say it could take a few weeks to see the difference. He's sleeping better too.
My diet is best not mentioned it's all over the place I really haven't a clue what I've eaten the past few days. Trying to get back to it today but not looking forward to Wednesday's weigh in. Hey ho, never mind, got to keep plodding on.

Thank you all,

hope you are doing ok love. :)

Thank you ladies for looking out for me. I'm ok, trying to keep positive about the wee man's new diet and feel like my head is going to explode with all the new info but it is going well for him. He is pain free at the moment and sleeping through the night which he has never done, it's only taken 8 years!! My diet is pants but that's ok I'll get to it eventually. Hope you are all well,

KB xx

thinking of you...i know what its like to see your son in pain, when they're finally pain free,it feels like you've won the lottery :)

take care

xoxo

Kb that sounds brilliant (about your son sleeping etc not the diet :p). I watched on Embarassing illness the other week about a young girl with coelics disease. I think if you look about there are probably loads of internet forums for fellow suffers (& their families)

Thanks again everyone. This is my first day back on track, I've put on another pound and I'm not stupid enough to think I'm going to be at goal for Christmas any more but I do intend to be the slimmest I've been in years all being well. I'll adjust sig later, tickers too and I just need to get my head down and get on with this before I undo all my good work. Hope you are all well,

OK I've fixed everything and reset my goal which will be to get in to the 170s by Christmas, that's 14 pounds so we'll see how it goes. I weighed in this morning just to see what the damage was but I'll weigh in again on Wednesday as usual and on Wednesdays from then on. Fingers crossed I can keep this up,
