Nausea

Well so far so good. I've woken up feeling better though my back aches but think it's because I laid in a funny position all night.

I'm hoping that I don't need to do the calorie controlled version and judging by how I feel at the moment I may not need to. Anyway Hooya, you're already thin at 139lbs! I'm 5'7 and my goal is to be 150lbs. How come?
 
Yes Hooya I envy you! I dont think I could ever be that thin. You must look gorgeous in clothes. The lowest i have been and maintained for many years is 66 kilos and that's 145.2 lbs.

If only that could be tomorrow!

Penny I am feeling fine now and have even been to the gym. Glad you are feeling good to.
 
Just reading your post and thinking, omg how come she's got to the gym already??? lol - it's 9am here. You're in Aus! lol. I guess you'll be going to bed soon?
 
Yeah it's 6 pm here, well about 10 mins past. Not feeling like dinner must say. Hubby wants to go to the pub downstairs for a drink but I can't.... However he has been doing night shift and hasn't really left the house of done anything for the past few days. I might have to go.
 
I've had a glass of something all week. So for the rest of this week I plan to have just clear fluid. I've not over done it at all, 1 or 2 glasses of wine or a whiskey and coke. But I just feel it's a bit too much when my body's already going through a lot.

Yes I am fairly small, a pretty comfortable UK size 12 now, but I used to be an 8-10 and feel like getting back to that weight for a while (probably not forever - life is just too short to have to watch what I eat all the time for the sake of skinny jeans!). I do have days when I think, what the hell, just stay as you are, but that's no fun is it! :D. Plus I am a bit of a food obsessive (I don't drink or smoke, so I use food as my comfort) and I think I should try to get away from that if possible!

I'm trying to keep the fat to carb ratio up and stick to the induction rules, but just not to eat excessive calories - I think some days on Atkins I've eaten 3,000 cals, which (regardless of the helpful effects of ketosis), isn't gonna help me lose weight! It will be interesting to see how I get on with it while keeping an eye on the calories...

Admiring your gym-going Bren, I just can't seem to get into it, and every time I go it feels like torture! Any tips?

 
I'm a gym junkie! hence my obsession with weight.

Try and go for only 40 mins everyday and if you dont feel like going just do the treadmill.
Rotate the cardio machines. I do 10 mins on 3 different ones
I do 3 days then a day off then 2 days and a day off.
If you keep the time short it doesn't feel like a chore. Then days when you are motivated go a little longer.
Important thing is not to make yourself feel guilty about not going.
Also find a time of the day which you know you can fit it in. So dont put the pressure on for a 5.30am session if you cannot get up the early.
Go with a friend. I walk once a week with a friend just for a change of routine.

PS also sit ups, I try to do 50 or more morning and night when i'm into it. Makes the tummy feel thin for the day.

Wow Bren - that's impressive, esp the sit-ups, I feel pretty nauseous if I do more than 20! :jelous:

Hope you are still feeling ok PennyJane - I had a bit of egg-related nausea recently, just felt gross when I looked at the things, but it seems to have passed!

Right, off to do some work :( then shopping :D

Hooya, I'm interested in what you say about carbs & cals, I am in ketosis but hardly losing any weight nor am I losing inches. I am eating about 17500 kcals per day & have upped my fat but my scales are dithering around the same weight. It is so frustrating.

Well one minute I feel fine and the next I feel bad again. My eyes feel better today and my head doesn't feel tired, energy is up but tum is still a bit queasy. I've just had my cream and strawberries which seems to have soothed my tum. I hope this passes soon!

Have you measured yourself Wrinkly? Do you write on here what you're eating, perhaps we can all have a look and help you?
 
Wrinkly I think you have mis typed the figure 17500??? This is an awful amount of cals perhaps and extra zero is on the end??

I think how you stand on the calories issue depends on how far you buy into Dr Atkins theory. I think his view was that you could still regularly consume, say, 2000 cals per day on Atkins and lose weight, since the type of calorie burn during ketosis is more efficient than 'normal' carb burning.

I buy into the metabolic advantage to an extent, and lots of studies have shown that people lose more weight on Atkins than low-fat, calorie controlled diets. But Atkins himself does say that you can't just go for it and eat limitless non-carb foods, he just isn't specific about where you draw the line. The good news is that protein foods tend to be more filling, so Atkins-ers eat less and benefit that way. I read a doc (will try to find the link) saying that the metabolic advantage in his view equates to about 300 cals per day. I expect it's more in some people though (as there have been such impressive Atkins losses, including posters on this site :))

I just know that if I stick to all the rules but don't watch the cals at least a bit, I'll end up eating 3,000 per day, and stall!
 
Sounds interesting Hooya! Yeah I must admit that I feel better trying not to over indulge and as Jim says, you have to make sure you eat until you're satisfied and not completely stuffed.

Well I feel better today even if OH cheesed me off so much last night that I didn't sleep well at all. The nausea and upset tum has gone and I feel back to my old self. So it must definately have been a virus.
 
PennyJane, a poster on another forum who live in the USA were complaining about the same thing. I did ask them to keep it their side of the Atlantic but it seems they haven't..

Hooya, I agree, I have a big appetite and know I must try to control it. I feel that because I do so little exercise, I am still eating too much. My BMR is about 1400kcls

My theory on it Penny is that it's working its way thru the Monday WI er's n then it'll work it's way thru the week.. Just an idea.. lol.. I'll be reet, just feel a bit strange n not myself.. Gutted i'm not up to the gym tonight
 
Yeah, that's how I felt. And really tired, it actually affected my eyes on the Friday and Saturday.

Right, I'm outta here for a jog. I've been working since 9am and brain is frazzled!
