Busy day for you again by the sounds of it. Food as always sounds great.

Hi! I usually mix up everything else then crumble the weetabix in, the mixture is quite wet. Cook them straight away but cool them on a wire rack and store them on a napkin/kitchen paper as they do seem to sweat and get soggy if just left on a plate..

I hope that helps! :)

I can recommend the chasseur, it was tastier than I expected! :)

I bought a small bottle of wine to make the sauce so it seems rude not to finish it off :D

Updated my syns :)

Feeling good today! I realised that I really missed my walk yesterday so despite the sideways rain I decided I was going to walk today. I woke early and no matter how many times I stomped up and downstairs or opened and closed the curtains I couldn't get hubby to wake up, even the cat gave me a "don't even think about it" look when I tried to prise the duvet cover from her paws...so I put on my nice warm coat and set off to check the local canals and river levels.

Happy to report that although the water is very high we are not in danger of needing an ark yet :)

I managed to walk nearly 4 miles while my padded coat acted like a sponge and soaked up all the rain and got heavier as a result, but underneath I stayed warm and dry. I planned tonights dinner while I walked and stopped in at Tesco on the way back to buy the ingredients... I realised that I hadn't made a curry since starting SW so am making from scratch a Chicken jalfrezi - all free, a huge mushroom bhaji - free and superfree, bombay potatoes - free and boiled rice - free! I have bought hubby a naan but won't have any myself as syn wise it's not worth it.

I confess that my curries were usually made from a jar using leftover chicken or lamb on Mondays. I can't remember ever making one with fresh ingredients before so will have to let you know how it turns out later on.....

Sent using Android App. Exquoos enee spellin mistayks :D

Might sound like a daft question but how do you make a mushroom bhaji?
Not daft :) I had to look it up too but the recipe I found is a bit too involved and it had potatoes in it so as I am already doing Bombay potatoes I am just going to wing it....

I thought I would "fry" some chopped onions, peppers and garlic then add some curry powder and extra spices (the curry powder is not very hot) then add the mushrooms and if the mushrooms don't produce enough juice I will add some veggie stock which should make a nice sauce (I hope!)

I will let you know later if it was any good :) I hope it is because that's the source of my superfree so I am going to have to eat more of that than anything else :D

Saturday 4th January Menu

Healthy Extras

a 40g Reduced fat Cheddar
b 2 Slices of Wholemeal Bread from 400g loaf

Breakfast: Strawberries, blueberries and Banana with Muller light Yoghurt

Lunch:
Special Cheese on Toast
This felt so naughty because it was just what I was in the mood for, Firstly I sprayed frylight buttery on the bread before toasting it, then added some of the finely grated cheese, on top of that some sliced mushrooms, sliced onions and slices of tomato, put them under a medium grill until the cheese started to shrink back (as the low fat version does) then sprinkled the rest of the cheese, some worcester sauce and some black pepper over the top - grilled on medium for another 2 or 3 minutes - it was gorgeous! And I used my HEXa, HEXb and got some superfree in there too :)

Dinner:
Chicken Jalfrezi, Bombay Potatoes, Mushroom Bhaji and boiled rice

Syns
Nescafe, Cafe Menu Cappuccino, Strong, dried 2½
Treat Size Curly Wurly 3 **
Total Syns 5½
Countdown for the week day 5: 56/75

** I have put this down as 3 syns because it is a treat size curly wurly, the syns online list this as a fun size curly wurly at 3.5 syns but the packet says it is 60 calories.... That's 3 syns isn't it? Not a major difference but every syn counts! :D

Still down on my syns overall, 75 being what I could have had by day 5, I have a pub lunch to go to tomorrow so will need those spare ones (and a few more I suspect!) I wouldn't drink at lunch time so that's gotta help :)

I can confirm that the curry was very good! I used Spicentice for the jalfrezi and bombay potatoes, they are basically packs including all the spices you need. I have a cupboard full of herbs and spices and quite frankly don't want to keep buying different ones for small uses, so this works out cheaper in the long run. I followed their recipes and just left out the oil...

Hubby had double helpings of everything so it must have been good! :D

And best of all it was all free! :) Loads of onion, peppers, tomatoes included as well as my made up mushroom bhaji so plenty of superfree was had too!

Lunch out today....It was really lovely but its time to syn it now :/

Roasted Butternut squash and mushroom risotto..I left some because it had loads of truffle oil added and I let it sink to the bottom (not my bottom hopefully, that's quite big enough! :D) I don't know how to syn this so am going to say it was 15 syns It was posh portions so not huge

Sticky Toffee pud and ice cream arrived after that . Aaaargggg! I had 3 small mouthfuls before my willpower kicked in and I pushed it away..... 6 syns at least

A few sips of champers to show willing 2 syns :)

For the rest of the time I drank diet coke

Trouble is it was loads of syns for not very much food and I am starving now so will have my hexa and hexb later...

Total for lunch 23 Hopefully I have over estimated.

Cappuccino when we got home 3.5
Cheese, onion, mushroom, tomato on toast for supper Hexa and Hexb

Countdown 82.5/90

I have previously hated weetabix, far too mushy, but the muffins are a great way to eat eat them. I almost felt naughty eating cake. If only somehow chocolate and biscuits could be syn free!
Me too, I don't like many cereals because I can't stand milk, and weetabix was probably my least favourite, it was like shredded cardboard! But they are good for you so it is great to find a way to actually enjoy them :)
Hmmm if chocolate and biscuits were syn free we probably wouldn't be on here! :D
