I've been to the Port, where Mum grew up, she would have been shocked at the gentrification - and the prices of the tenement areas
Because I've had a few wines, here's a song - one of my mum's favourites - she went there many times
By yon bonnie banks,
And by yon bonnie braes,
Where the sun shines bright on Loch Lomond,
Where me and my true love
Were ever want to gae,
On the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond.
Oh! ye'll take the high road and
I'll take the low road,
And I'll be in Scotland afore ye;
But me and my true love
Will never meet again
On the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond."
We played it at her funeral - bizarre, sun streaming down, and 50 Scots in the "audience" singing this with tears streaming down their faces. Happy days IYSWIM.
