Ok here goes, my journey

Hi Jo any news of your Nan????

HI Jojo, hope your Nan okay...... What a worry. Well done the other night with the curry I probably would not have had any reservations about eating the table bare!!! LOL! Hope you get your flat finished off at some point and ready to let..... xxxx

I'm still here :)

No real progress with my nan, we were at the hospital until 3am Friday before she finally got a bed. I was shattered ! Still don't know what the problem is, they've ruled out an infection alothough they had pumped her full of antibiotics before they found she hadn't got an infection. She seemed a bit brighter yesterday but is still confused, saying that she controls her diabeties with insullin & tests her blood sugar on the TV, when in fact she takes tablets & doesn't test her own blood sugars. It's a bit of a worry as she is normally very independant & has nearly all her marbles :)

It's been hard going though as it's only me & my uncle visiting & we are trying to ensure one of us is able to go to visting.

I can't believe I haven't turned to food during all this, usually I would have. I've not been eating enough though but when I have eaten it's all been dukan friendly.

My flat is still in limbo, nan situation sort of took over. Will try & do a bit more this weekend but we also decided to revamp our room at TDM's. We have brought all new furniture & bedding, need to decorate & get a new rug & we are done there.

Will try & catch up on what you lot have been getting up to but thanks for all your kind wishes :) xxx

Your nan is lucky to have such a good grandaughter. Great on sticking to Dukan well done Jo and hey love a bit of re-vamping xxx wish I had the cash as my little box is looking a little sad xxx

Jo sorry to hear about your Nan and the ongoing worries. I debated over telling you my story, but sometimes it helps to read about other peoples experiences.

When my Nan first became ill and was eventually diagnosed with dementia, she hid it really well from me. My great aunt and I were the only visitors she really had, i was the one that went every weekend to visit and did her shopping. After we found her wandering around her flat in her nightie, and she was non responsive for a while (in hospital) I realised there had been a couple of clues. She used to write me a shopping list and for three weeks running she wrote sellotape on it. I would check her fridge and veg box and found that she wasn't eating the potatoes. My great aunt who was the other visitor, said she only ever saw nan eating half cooked toast. This had been going on for a few weeks.

The day we found her stood in the middle of the kitchen in her nightie (someething she never ever did, she was always dressed), she had changed her whole room round, every ornament was on the floor and placed very careful and gently around the place, I found glass ornaments behind the tv. She went to bed whilst I rang the doctor and she just smiled at me, in the ambulance on the way to hosp she zoned out and over the next week or two she didn't speak and was very unresponsive She wouldn't eat properly and would only eat the puddings I fed her. She was in hospital for 5 weeks and eventually was discharged to a home. She had just had her 80th birthday and a lot happened in that week. I'm only telling you all this because its always the ones that are closest who are the last to know there is something wrong. I really hope its nothing and all will be well. Luv and hugs hun xxx

Thanks for sharing this Karin, you are right that the closest are always the last to know I think it's because we see them all the time so don't always spot slight changes. What we did was ask my aunt who doesn't see my nan all that often to visit for that very reason.

Hope things are getting better for you and you manage to get a rest over this Easter weekend take care lovely lady X

Thanks Chris, i think you need the rest more than me :) x

It's been a funny couple of days, me & my uncle both visited my nan Wednesday night & she looked the best I've seen her since it all happened last week ( can't beleive it's been a week) She seemed very with it & followed the converstaion. I went again last night & she had deteriated back to how she was, she said they took her down for some tests on her heart ???? Dunno I'm going up for visiting this afternoon so maybe I can get to speak to someone to find out what's going on.

I failed last night, I had chocolate ! Mini eggs BUT usually I would have polished off the lot but I had about 10 & had enough, instead of putting them in the cupboard for another time I binned them - can't believe I did that !!!!!

Hope you all have a fab Easter !!!!!! xxxxx

Happy Easter Jo xxx

Thats a good idea, sorry to hear your visit last night saw her as worse again, it may well be an up and down thing for a while until they can get control of whatever is ailing her. I'm crossing all crossable things for you hunni.

Well done on the mini eggs, don't know if I could have binned them, am terrible for not throwing food away, but well done you xx
