one step at a time

i think it's fair to say that why_d will always fit... as for clothes sizes... that's difficult.. because i'm in the chair i cant really tell what's right and wrong... and not really comfortable asking my carers to get the tape measure out, so it's all been guestamation, lol

i know that what i was wearing was WAY too big and that the clothes themselves were getting to the point that they could be causing damage (creases in material etc can cause pressure sores when you cant feel the crease) so went for 3 sizes smaller with jeans and trousers (6 inches of a difference), they seem to be about right, tho may have been able to comfortably drop maybe another size...? but they'll probably do until the summer, when i'll have to get new clothes for going back to work, so...

with tshirts it's more difficult, as i know if i was standing some would be too short, but as im sitting i'm currently getting away with a range of tshirts between 3xl and 8xl (admittedly the 8xl are way too big but they dont look too ridiculous yet, lol) i think if i was standing 5xl would prob be the most practical fit with room to move.

not thrown anything out yet, tho may have to hide some of the bigger clothes to stop my carers from going to lift them... i've yoyo'd significantly in the past and done the whole binning of wardrobes only to rebuy... i am a tad worried about throwing stuff out but at the same time i know that SW works as a lifestyle rather than a diet so i hope never to need these clothes again. i know i should just bin the clothes and be done... we'll see!

i think i have some clothes in my parents garage from when i was thin last time round... there's a pair of ex US army combats that i LOVED so much... i wonder if they're still there... tho know that they'll not look the same in the chair... will be some time before they'd fit but may have to check and see if they're something to work towards... lol

I can understand not wanting to ask your carers to take your vital statistics, i wouldn't even want paul to do that for me!!! although i hae asked paul if he would take a picture of me as a before or should we say midway picture cos i saw a pic of me at xmas and it is revolting

that's amazing that you have dropped 3 sizes already, i bet the 5x is looking ridiculous on you but you don't notice it yet

do you carer cook for you why_d? are they able to help with food prep? or do you manage all by yourself?

and what about your wheelchair, will you need to get a smaller one in due course?

tell me to pee off if i am being too personal but i am truly interested x

no, mu carers are only there to help me in and out of bed and the things around that like getting washed/dressed etc.

i do all my own cooking/cleaning etc

re the chair, in theory, yes i will need a smaller one but they really only look at them every 5 years apparently so unless there's a drastic change i cant see them changing it any time soon, lol

are you finding that now you have lost nearly 50lbs you feel better? you will have to start pumping some iron just in case that chair takes you prisoner lol!

I remember when you first started your diary you had some trouble cooking on your bad days - have you found a solution to this problem?

I really hope you smash the 50lbs mark tomorrow!

I think that yes, I probably do feel better, but I started SW not long after getting out of hospital and getting back to the real world (spent 18 months in hosp) so not sure how much it’s to do with weight and how much is just getting back to a daily routine, lol

My chair is powered so don’t need to do too much worrying about lugging it about, but I do do some weights training as I have to lift myself from bed to chair and back etc.

The chair is causing more diffs and is being taken away again on mon to be fixed so will cook off some food in preparation of it being heated up for when I’m stuck in bed.

Here’s hoping I crack the 50lbs but was in wagamma for dinner tonight so we’ll see, lol

Hey Why_d, well done on getting new clothes (if I haven't already said that earlier in the week !). I totally understand you not wanting to throw the other stuff out yet. Even though I am new 3-4 sizes smaller (and still shrinking) I haven't thrown anything out yet (other than stuff I won't wear again in smaller sizes, now that I've slimmed into it, it can go out !!!).

I didn't measure myself at the beginning because I never dreamt that I'd stick to it or it would be successful !! Have very few photos either but should make sure I keep taking them because I'm still only part way there. I hope you are at least taking lots of photos (another one of my 'do as I say, not as I do' !!!!) on the way.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

hehe, no, not many pics about either, but when you're sitting down all the time and have no abdominal muscles to speak of, even thin people can look like they have a pot belly, so im sure you can guess what my stomach looks like, lol so didnt see much point in taking pics as i thought they'd all look rather similar, but i can tell i've lost alot round my face, shoulders, legs etc, but not sure how that would translate to camera, lol

oh, lost another 2lbs this week :D

Sunday night is steak night! Except tonight! Forgot to get one at the butchers so took a trip to tesco and found a nice tesco finest corn fed chicken reduced from £12 to £4 and took a notion for a nice roast chicken dinner with homemade gravy. Lush!

Breakfast – 2 Weetabix (HEb) 100ml of semi skimmed milk (1/2 HEa) and a banana
Lunch – flavoured chicken breast (6 syns), pineapple
Dinner – roast chicken, roast potatoes, carrots, parsnip, gravy (maybe 4 syns?), cranberry sauce (2 syns)

Total 12 syns?

Hi Why_d,

When I look in the mirror, I don't see much difference in me, although I'm obviously feeling it in my clothes a lot. I don't have many photos but from the ones that I have, but when I compare them to photos from me prior to SW at my heaviest, I can see the difference enormously (mostly my face) so I think it is still worth taking photos, even if it's only of your face. I suspect you would be surprised at the difference when you compare them.

Well done again on this week. I'm so pleased for you.
