pebbles sw food diary- get a grip!

god im slow. you can move in tomorrow its beef pot roast done in the slo cooker tomorrow. x

picking up where i left off yesterday, we had chicken tikka with sw chips and salad for dinner. i was on a red day but had saved up a heb for my chips. dollop of mayo (1 syn). the chicken tikka was made using 5 chicken thighs still with bone in but skin removed. i bought a tikka mix from the local asian minimarket and it was just a dried mix, so no syns. it asked for butter or ghee to be added which i didnt and it was still flipping gorgeous.
i had to add lemon juice of 2 lemons (which i dont use, i use the bottled lemon juice much better) garlic paste and ginger paste or lazy ginger whatever youve got. i used a tsp of each and 1/3 of the packet.

sunday
a green day - dn dn dnnnnnn

bit of a lie in due to the clocks and all that and cos to hell with it, its sunday. fully intended to get up, have brekkie and batch cook and do a slow cooker pot roast and sort out the hell hole of a mess which is my house .BUT....... a friend rang and asked me to go over to hers and bring my kids to wear hers out. she has 3 under 3 - the mad fool! Twins plus another. it was such a warm day so we ran around getting ready, sorted out all the animals, and managed to shove a beef joint in the slo cooker. i didnt have time for breakfast. she had said she would do some rolls for lunch so i boiled 2 eggs and made egg and lettuce and mayo (1 syn) sandwich for me (1heb). also took ww quavers (4 syns) and a muller. had 2 cups of tea there and a water.

the kids had a blast and all 5 were worn out after 3 and a half hours. got home and started clearing up then checked on the pot roast for dinner. i had put 2 carrots chopped into chunks, 1 onion and 1 potato in the base of the cooker and a pint of water with 2 beef oxos and a teaspoon of marmite. beef then on top. it had about 6 hrs or so. i made sw roast potatoes and parsnips, carrots and cabbage and yorkshires (3syns). i took the beef (1heb) out sliced it and emptied the stock and veg into a saucepan, blitzed it with a hand blender and it thickened up into a nice gravy. all had with a dollop of horseradish lovely.
no picture tho im afraid as phone dead . oops. desert a ww raspberry tart yogurt and a cuppa.

whilst dinner was cooking i made one of the recipes i found on a thread by 'the missus' who has done a thread on veggie green days. i have already made her cheesy croquettes which were yum. so i made her courgette and potato fritata. - yum. fryt 105.jpg

very easy -
Courgette Frittata

Syns: Free on Green
2 HExA for whole dish
Serves 2-4
Ingredients

4 eggs
84g low fat cheddar cheese
2 baby courgettes (or 1 normal size)
2-3 medium potatoes
1/2 red pepper
1 small onion
Frylight

Method

Peel and thinly slice the potatoes, place slices in a microwavable bowl with a little water in the bottom, cover and cook on full power for approx 7 minutes until tender.

Spray a nonstick frying pan with frylight and heat up.
Peel and slice the courgette, onion and red pepper and fry until tender.
Add in potatoes and fry for a few more mins and mix with the veg/onions.
Mix 4 eggs in a jug and add half the grated cheese and pour over the veg/potato mix in the pan.

Fry until the bottom starts to set then place pan under a grill until the top sets and is firm to the touch.

Add the remaining cheese and grill for a few more mins until the cheese bubbles.

Serve with salad or slice into wedges and have a piece as a tasty snack.

popped into the fridge ready for tuesdays packed lunches. :eatdrink051:

then made 'the missus' recipe leak and potato soup - also very tasty but it did call for 4-5 veg stock cubes, i put in 4 but it came out very salty , i did water it down more but still quite salty. so i think i would only add 2 next time. 2 portions into fridge for tues and 2 portions frozen.

then........ i realised i had no soup for tomorrow and im working a long day 930- 6 so i will need something to eat.
throw it in veg soup
threw a tomatoe, half red pepper as thats all that i had, 2 carrots, tsp mixed herbs, tsp cumin, 1 onion, sprig of mint- cos i had it in fridge begging to be used. and a handful of chopped swede. water and stock cube - chicken. boiled up and simmered then blitzed - salt and pepper to taste and it was very nice. potted up and ready for work tomorrow.

i sat with my sw mags and found one from 2009 and managed to write this weeks meals, then went online and did a sainsburys shop this time and ordered what i needed for this week. the meat i have in the freezer but needed extras.

top tip - i use 'my supermarket' to shop online, then it compares the prices across sains/asda/tesco/ocado and you chose the cheapest one. tesco was best last week and sainsburys this week. came to £52 and ive got the lot for the week except apples i think.

so tommorrow is
red - soup for lunch, then swede topped shepherds pie

meals for the rest of the week;-
1) coq au vin (red)
2) sw cheese burger, in a bun with sw chips coleslaw and beans (green)
3) steak with peppercorn sauce and frites (red)
4) chicken jumbalaya (green)
5) stuffed peppers with puy lentils and hash browns (green)
the last day is missing as its mothers day and i have no intention - do you hear me- no intention of cooking !

gonna be making some apple dishes too for puddings, going to try the spiced apple cake, the apple tartlets and the apple toffee rice. no reason other than the kids like all those things and they are all in one book so its easy. if my lemons arrive in my order, then i think i'll try my hand at the lemon curd roulade or lemon sponge fingers.

an interesting week ahead and working every day again -booooooooo! not good planning cos other half is away on a course this week wed til fri, so i could have done with some time off to sort out things in the house. lots of spring cleaning and sorting out to do. but we have easter hols to look forward to for that.

is it me or have i gone all serious on myself. not a quip or a joke in sight- must be the clock change thing - crop circles and all that. ohhh errrrr ! not liking this side of me. bring back the nutter! :sign0151:

What've u done with our pebbles!!! This us a citizens arrest, hand her over!

My god another busy weekend for you, no wonder u need a spa break every few months! I'd need one once a month if I was running around like u. I need to lie down just Reading it!!!!!

wish i wasnt working these extra shifts this week, am doing monday am extra, tues am and wed am+pm extras. some 15hrs a week this turned out to be. its ok but then when i do a night as well it really takes its toll. cant wait for next weekend lol, already tired of the week. its so overated this weekday stuff. in fact see if god was a woman she would have made the weekend last 5 days and the week last 2 days. i think i need a cleaner- but then if i had one- which i couldnt afford, i'd end up cleaning before she came to clean! my mum did that every week. ' quick tidy your rooms, the cleaner will be here in 30 mins' what was all that about????
i think ive been abducted- even im missing the other me!

U poor thing u sound all stressed out. Here I'm sending u hugs! If I lived near u I'd come and help you, u must be worn out x

U deserve a cleaner with all the running around you do.

Tbh I could really do with tomorrow off too, I don't know what the hell this virus is but it knocked me off my feet, hot & cold all the time but tired like I hadn't slept in weeks. I haven't had a day off sick in years, I can't remember the last time. Tuesday Im working from home anyway so not too bad. I'll get tomorrow out of the way then I can relax a little on Tuesday x

take today off sick kank , :character00264: i am a nurse - trust me!

monday red day
today has started off well, not! not coping well with this clock change. getting up at 545am ! unheard of. yes, ok i know its 645 but not in my head it isnt. even the kids struggled this morning. why dont they change the clocks friday and give us the weekend to adjust or better still lets have a clock change bank holiday - now thats going in my manifesto when i take over.

anyway one large sickly child who fell back into bed and straight back to sleep , so he must be ill. left him to fester. small child caught wind of a brother not going to school, so rapidly developed some plague like illness, with groaning sound effects. poor love ! ---------poor love my ass! into that shower with a boot up the bum!
once bribed with a cuddle with one of the baby rabbits she bounced back olympic stylie and into her clothes, breakfast down neck and out into garden.
artful as a wagon load of monkeys these small children.

so animals done and child fed, off to school run. extra work this morning at the surgery so onto work on this fine sunny morning. managed to sneak in some breakfast before starting
breakfast -weetabix fat free yogurt and pineapple

for lunch i have chicken tikka strips (£1 from iceland) with mayo in a sandwich(1 syn & 1heb). tomato pepper soup, ww spicy balls (4syns) cherry muller, apple and 2 ww lemon currant biscuits (4syns) if i dont cram all that in for lunch then i'll have some of it as mid afternoon snack as im here til 6pm.

dinner all sorted for later, swede topped shepherds pie with veg. just needs to be thrown together and cooked when i get in. love it when a plan comes together.
:pcwhack:

where do i start! what a day monday was.

actually lets start with sunday.
so, sunday i think to myself , i will cook some soups and a fritata for monday and tuesdays packed lunches. planned my week and decided red monday, green tuesday.
made tomato and veg soup for mondays lunch with a sandwich, was in the process of making leek and potato soup, then small child started chattering and i lobbed the end of my finger off. :sign0007::ambulance:. not too bad but this was to be the start of my bad luck. i carried on and made the fritata for tuesdays lunch and then made a list of what i'd need as extras in the way of shopping. decided to do a sainsburys shop online. i have used the others and not been too impressed as so many times they have things out of stock and i end up going shopping the next day.
however, against my better judgement i place an online order. they had an offer on of any 3 for £5 on prawns and chicken thigh fillets. so i ordered 2 chicken and 1 pack of prawns. i noticed they had the mini milky bars so i ordered 4 of these plus enough shopping to total £42. i then noticed i could get £10 off if i spent £50. so basically getting £10 free food. i shop about, and increase the order to £52. get to checkout and find the voucher for £10 doesnt work. so i finish the order and email sainsburys to say the voucher didnt work, heres the number.
did i get a reply? no.
am i still waiting (3 days later) for a reply? yes.

ok so thats that for now. then we move onto monday. lovely sunny day, all seems to be going well. finger sore and bandaged up with a plastic glove over whilst at work. - looking like a cartoon thumb.
i went to unzip my lunch bag and somehow- goodness knows how i get my arm caught in the zip and take a chunk out of the skin. :character00264:
i get up an hour later to call a patient into my room, and catch my finger (a different one ) on the door mechanism cutting it.
feeling quite accident prone and sorry for myself i sink into my chair and am picked up immediately by the sun streaming through my window. i look at the clock and think wow its quite light for 6 oclock, 6 O' CLOCK!!!!! ahhhhhhhhh i slam the computer off and shut the door and run out of there as quickly as my sw legs can carry me. i break about every speed limit in the book and get to the school club at 10 past 6- only 20 minutes late then! the club leaders and my daughter are sitting on the bench in front of school with the gates locked and me looking decidedly ashamed.
now, not containing the excitement of getting home and battening down the hatches and never venturing out again, we rush into the house and seek comfort in cuddling the baby bunnies. then the door knocks and its mr sainsbury, nice man in orange van with my goodies.
he tells me there was an item missing - the prawns so they had substituted it with a slightly bigger pack of prawns. was this ok? i say yes and off he goes. on inspecting the order. i find that my £5 offer is not now applicable because its not with these different prawns and so they have charged me individually for all items now totally £12 instead of £5. i wouldnt have had them at that price. ! then i continue unpacking and no milky bars!

i collapse in a heap and other half makes me a nice cuppa. why oh why can nothing go smoothly in my household. whilst drowning my sorrows about the day i ask other half what he ate for lunch so i could list his food for the day. he says i took my packed lunch - but i hadnt made him a packed lunch!. turns out he took the whole courgette fritata i had made on sunday for tuesdays lunch and just a minor detail it was to serve 2! :badmood:and he was on a red day having eaten a sack of potatoes for lunch! ggrrrrrr

now i really do collapse in tears - you ate tomorrows Lunch !!!! i scream.
i proceeded to bang and clang about in kitchen and manage to spend the next hour or so, throwing together a new quiche flavour for green days.

it was lovely,
3 eggs beaten
1 tub of cottage cheese
2 medium potatoes sliced
tub of low low spread
courgette
peas
sweetcorn

i put the sliced potato into a microwave dish with a little water and blasted it for 7 mins.then laid into bottom of a flan dish. slice the courgette and mushroom and blast in micro too for 3 mins.then arrange on top of potatoes, throw in a handful of sweetcorn and a handful of peas. melt the low low so its easier to pour. then add to beaten egg and mix in cottage cheese. pour over the potato mixture and bake for 20-25 mins or until brown and cooked.
delicious warm or cold. so with the new lunch made i then feel a bit better about things and knock together the 12 syn victoria sponge recipe. i mixed it exactly as stated and divided it between 2 tins. when i turned around to open oven door and back again to pick up tins, the cake mixture had seeped out through the bottom of the tins (removeable bottomed ones ) i threw it all in the oven and cleared up the mess. hence my cake came out more like a flat tyre than a cake. was ok though just biscuit height.

note - buy new cake tins- SEALED ONES

i'll try it again then post it on here if i succeed next time.

last nights dinner however was a hit. we had shepherds pie which kids had with mash on top but we had mashed swede and 2 heas of cheese on top. then for dessert i made apple filo tartlets which i will post picture of tonight.
at 2 syns each they are really nice.

Aw u poor thing, u've def been in the wars! U've had the 3 now so let's hope that's ur lot!

I'm sorry but I burst out laughing so loud when I read ur OH had taken ur frittata thing! That's just so typical of a man! U and me kiddo, we're so alike! I was sat there working today with my laptop and OH was sneaking around me...(ok so he wasn't sneaking, he was lurking) and he only went and tripped over my cable and nearly yanked the thing off my lap....well I screamed "woooooh u bleeding oaf!" He nearly shot 10ft in the air! He was like "what you shouting for?" I was in 2 minds to ask was he serious, he was creaping about like the bloody grim reaper then nearly tore my laptop off me in the process, and he asks what am I shouting for, if it hadn't of tickled me that when I shouted he jumped out of his skin (enough to gain his balance I might add, which means I saved him from falling) I think we'd have had a row!

I wonder if they know we giggle to ourselves after we've given them what for!!!

evening all.
just thought i'd pop the photos of meals on.
the missing courgette fritata
juih 121.jpg

last nights shepherds pie with broccoli.
juih 122.jpg

and last nights filo apple tartlet is still to come - there is an error in the photography department which will soon be rectified or else!

so tuesday - a green day.
work as usual, helped my son gather his things together for spaghetti bolognaise cookery lesson, otherwise known as food tech!
took small one to school and onto work.
breakfast
i had a change today as the sainsburys man had brought weetabix crunchy bran and all bran. you can have 42g of these for a hexb.mmmmmm. so i had crunchy bran with milk. (heb+hea)
lunch
i had leek and potato soup with a large piece of my new potato quiche, 1 slice of ww brown danish (2.5syns), a flat piece of victoria sponge 12 syn cake (1.5), fromage frais, apple and my new find - a kellogs fibre plus chocolate bar (5 syns) OH MY GOSH!
i am going to be honest and say i dont know what the fuss is about alpen lights cos ive had them and theyre ok, but these fibre plus bars are the business, really chocolately and a thick choc base and drizzly top. still to try the dark choc one. but these are well worth it and on offer in sainsburys for £3 for 2 boxes. i decided to take a pic to show how chocolatey they are.

juih 124.jpgjuih 123.jpg
left work and picked up small child from dance club, dashed home and played with the animals in the garden for half an hour. think i might end up keeping all the bunnies they are adorable.
did kids tea, they were begging for fish fingers chips and beans - so i gave in as theyve been eating sw stylie for weeks now, poor loves are fading away. i grabbed 1 fish finger(2.5 syns) as i ran out the door and off to evening clinic for 2 hours.
when i arrived back at 845pm i set about cooking dinner -
chicken and chorizo jumbalaya.
oh yum oh yum and so creamy like a risotto.
try it you'll love it.

ok adjust the amounts accordingly but i basically did enough for 3 servings, 2 fairly large servings and a smaller one for packed lunch.

i used a pack of chorizo which i found in iceland 70g for £1, already in slices but i then quartered them (3 syns each serving)
325g pack of sainsburys chicken thigh fillets, cut into large chunks
1 red onion chopped
1 crushed garlic clove
1 celery stick sliced
1 green pepper sliced
150g long grain rice
200ml hot chicken stock (1 chicken oxo in water )
half tin chopped tomatoes
2tbsp chopped thyme

dry fry the chorizo, and the chicken, the chorizo is very oily so dont add frylight. cook until the chicken changes colour on all sides. (about 4 mins).
transfer to a saucepan. drain any oil away.
cook the onion for 2 mins, then add garlic, celery and pepper, cook for 3 mins stirring. then add to chicken.
stir in the rice, add the stock, the tomatoes season and stir. cover and simmer for 20 mins. have another batch of hot stock ready to top up if rice needs longer. i used another 75mls. when cooked, stir in some thyme and serve.
it was damn gorgeous. gonna be doing this again. another example of how you can adapt almost anything to a sw recipe.
juih 126.jpg
it was 3 syns per serving cos of the chorizo but well worth it,you could leave it out if you dont want to use syns but the chorizo gave it a kind of smokey, im sitting in louisiana kind of a taste. lovely. did i say how nice it was?
didnt want any dessert as was completely stuffed!

hebs x 2 (chicken and cereal)
hea x1 (milk)
syns - 15.
tea & coffee 6 cups
water 1 oops! think i'll take my water fountain in with me tomorrow and try to drink it. if its on my desk it'll remind me.

a bit undecided what to have tomorrow, green red green red. other half is away from the morning for 3 days so i might just see how the mood takes me in the morning. cant wait for another kellogs fibre bar though. mmmm
ok so night all and keep slimming.:4633:

kank you'll love it - trust me its fab, and i giggled when oh nearly fell over laptop. bloody lumaxes they are. i call my oh the grim reaper oh my god, and he has a tatoo of the very man on his arm. bloody thing!. ive been out at work all day, sorted kids, done tea, gone back out to work, come back and cooking at 9pm. when i ask for my apple corer to be washed he says' ive been at work and ive still got to pack for my trip away and im tired' its a bloody apple corer says i, not a stationwagon that needs rinsing. for gods sake. i should live in a womans commune, it'd be so easy. washing ironing hoovering would be done, toilet seat would be down, shaving mirror would be stowed away against the wall rather than threatening to take my eye out. and the bath would be cleaned all the time. i think i'll look into it.:flirt2:

just a postscript on the online grocery thing. i rang sainsburys and said i'd been charged for individual items at a cost of a further £8 because the item wasnt in stock. i was told that it states quite clearly on the website, if an item is unavailable the offer becomes void. well i have to say that if that happens at tescos they substitute the item and only charge you for the original offer. you get the new item at no extra charge. i told them this and was told- this is sainsburys madam not tesco. then i mentioned the milky bars - i was told well its only 60p (hell thats not the point) and they are very small madam so easily dropped out of a bag . ( not if i was packing they wouldnt, id do my job properly).
then i mention the £10 i was supposed to get back for spending £50. he said well if the code was invalid you should have rung immediately and we would have verified the code for you. (i tell you what i should have done, gone to the bloody store and done it myself, it wouldnt have cost me 14.50 in petrol which is what i ended up paying extra) i said, as a first time customer its not very impressive and i dont ever want to shop online with you again, so he offered me a voucher for £10 which i should have got off, and 60p for the bars. so i check my email and low and behold its only redeemable with my next online order - i dont think so.!
talking to the girls at work they all said complain- its not good enough, but i hate confrontation and never complain .
what i need is someone who has clout at sainsburys. im going to have to drive to the store and go to customer services, great!

I would write a real firm and legal looking letter to them, i'm not familiar with their online shopping but unless the terms & conditions are clear and precise then it's false advertising and they're using unfair practices.

wednesday, a red day and another day in the rat race.

kids off to school, me off to work.
breakfast - all bran (1heb & 1hea)
lunch - chicken tikka and mayo (1syn) sandwich (1heb). velvet crunch crisps (4syns)salad of celery, tomatoes, cucumber, mullerlight.
plodded on into the afternoon, still stewing about my online shop, then i got a call from reception to say i had received a big parcel.ooooohhhhh how exciting. what could it be.
i collected my daughter and we rushed off home to open it.

thursd 003.jpg

yes! i placed an order with joes sausages and although it was £30 look what i got.
it arrived in a freezer pack and stayed chilled all day.
i got pork sausages, pork garlic and chilli sausages, sausagemeat to make my scotch eggs, peppered chicken, spicy chicken, pork grillsticks, pork steaks, pork and mustard sausages and beef burgers.

had my tea early tonight, son had cooked bolognaise at school so he was desperate to make a huge dent in it. i tried a couple of spoonfuls and it was quite nice. it was cooked without oil, so no syns. other half is away so i made a prawn stir fry, also cooked 2 pork and mustard sausages so i could have them cold later.
thursd 006.jpg

did a heap of housework then sat down to watch tv with the kids. after a while i made a cuppa and had a couple of sausages and a large field mushroom with hea cheese.
thursd 007.jpg
bloomin lovely those sausages, not a bit of quorn in sight and the real meaty deal. cant wait to try something else.

snack - 2 snack a jacks (3syns) with a laughing cow extra light (1 syn)

morning glorious slimmers.
well thursday dawned, and its weigh in day. so far my little group are weighing in a fab 4lb lighter and still lots of us to go.

spoke to the other half last night as he is away on a course. he succumbed to a mixed grill in the pub nearby - no flaming willpower that bloke!
unlike me, who was fighting for slimmer and weigher back home fending off all the baddies that come out in the dark.
oh, dont worry about me dear i'll be fine here on my own in this house in the big bad night, all alone with the nasties that lurk in cupboards................ my life was in danger last night as i was caught unawares as the biscuit tin hit me on the head as i walked past it at 1am - just clean jumped out and hit me ! poltergeist activity i thought. then the army of chocolate digestives tried to hijack me so i wrestled it to the floor and ate 5 of its senior officers. phew that was close, i could have been assasinated or something. must look at the security in the kitchen.
:eatdrink023::eatdrink012::whistle:

so i did the usual stuff this morning and was delighted to see all the baby bunnies are now walking and hopping about with mummy all 'bambi' like, with a certain degree of unsteadiness, they are so cute.

late for work as there was an ambulance and police cars outside the school and the road was closed. god my heart sank, i hope whatever it was, it wasnt bad but i truly hope it wasnt a child and a car. so flew into work 30 mins late and patients all champing at the bit. popped some (1heb) to soak until i get to it. probably lunch time at this rate.

couldnt think straight this morning so i hurriedly made a ham mustard mayo (1syn) salad sandwich with ww bread, (1heb) and grabbed a packet of velvet crunch crisps (4syns) a ww strawberry tart yogurt and some fruit. thinking about it now im thinking i should be doing green really and im desperate for sw chips. but i think i'll leave it as red, swap my ww bread for syns (5) and have my chips as a heb. or shall i syn the ham at 1.5 per slice (3 total) and have a green. hhhmmmm cant decide. i fancy egg and cheesy chips.

right i'm going to have a red day.
1b used for all bran
1b using for potato for sw chips
1a using for cheese on chips

5 syns for ww bread at lunch
1 syn for mayo
4 syns for crisps at lunch
2 syns for 2 sausages
12 total.

having egg, grilled mushroom , grilled tomato, sainsburys low fat sausages (2 x 1 syn) . sorted

tonight im going to make some pate to have for lunch at work with crackers and soup. so i can save a heb for potatoes for tomorrows dinner. were having coq au vin in the slow cooker. will let you know how i get on with the pate. probably a chicken liver and mushroom.
stay tuned

Hey Pebbles my little english rose! Missed you over the last few days, hope you're ok.

Come back to us soon, I need my mad twin back! xxx

Crumbs I'm so sorry, I've been flat out , working that is, not dead lol. Plus Sunday was entertaining OH parents and just not had time to pop on here. Am off during day today, working tonight, night shift yuk, but I've got my mates with me. Going school run then Kingston Market for fruit and veg then home for baking time , then a nap before work- doubt that last bit will happen . Pop back on here later properly x missed u too buddy x

hi there peeps. sorry i havent been on here over last couple of days gosh its been busy.
so where to start? oh yes friday.
friday
well what a day that was - son got up late and so i had to run him in the car, thus making me and daughter late. drove back home to get her as she was getting dressed and the detour cost me my breakfast and lunch. no time to throw it all together so grabbed a banana and went.

busy busy day stopped for lunch with my narna and a cuppa. nursey friend asked where my lunch was , then before i knew it, i was being presented with a chicken salad, bowl of strawberries and a yogurt. god my friends look after me, its something ive begun to realise since the divorce that i have 2 good friends who keep watch on me and a best mate who i couldnt live without.
so we tucked into our salads and had a nice lunch hour. the afternoon was less hectic and i finished on time. went home and racked my brains for something for tea. other half arrived home after few days away so after chatting i decided the best thing would be to rustle up some leftovers. we had a bit of jumbalaya to finish, then i had a chicken breast which i cooked with satay sauce (1 syn) on a kebab stick, and sw chips. very nice thank you.
fell into bed shattered - just a bit!

saturday
well, now you see, saturday had all the intentions of being such a good day. ex husband picked up kids and took them shopping for the day, so other half and i decided to take his kids shopping for their mums presents for mothers day.- how kind am i? 0h yes i am very kind and caring and considerate. but that wasnt everyones view. i was about to cook some brekkie, but then one of his kids was so rude and insulting i felt physically sick and i couldnt face food- hey i could do with bottling this feeling! made a mental note to ask his kids to move in - next time i feel the need to binge - actually no scrap that idea- god im delirious!
so other half ate breakfast and against kids wishes i tagged along shopping. i offered to go my separate way once in town but other half was having none of it. kids wanted mcdonalds so i had a coffee, other half had a chicken wrap. - me still feeling sick and unable to eat so much as an apple. really am liking this feeling of not needing food. but dont think it would catch on as a marketing thing.

off home eventually where for dinner a coq -au-vin was cooking in the slow cooker. smelt lovely and i actually did feel hungry. so had it with boiled potatoes carrots and broccoli. it was a sw recipe from 2009 magazine but it was very watery so i added cornflour which was synned of course but seeing as id had nothing else to eat i wasnt too worried. watched a film ate fruit and drank tea, all in all an emotional day.

sunday oh yes oh yes, its sunday! its mothers day.
'wakey wakey mummy happy mothers day' ahh love em, they walked into my room with a cup of tea in a mug with 'kisses for mummy' written on it. a bunch of red roses, a pen with a bear and mummy written on it, and a card which as i opened it - revealed 2 little voices saying happy mothers day - my kids voices! well, the flood gates opened and i cried like a demented baby. and then.........i cried some more. god what a fabulous thing to do for me. for once my exhusband had really put some thought into it and helped the kids with ideas of what to get. the other great part is- before the kids went i said - 'in case daddy is thinking of spending money on chocolates- tell him not to, to save his money cos mummy wont eat them, just a small packet of maltesers would be absolutely lovely.' so guess what i got? a beautiful basket they made with a small packet of maltesers and a malteser bunny in - priceless the best ever mothers day.

then in a cloud of smoke it all went puff and i was downstairs and hoovering, then mopping floor, emptied and loaded dishwasher- just another day then! no, other halfs parents were coming and i couldnt rely on that lot to tidy up. they made me poached eggs on toast which were lovely. then later we all went out for lunch and had roast beef yorkshire pudding, gravy and potatoes and veg. then i just had to have my mothers day treat and had chocolate and mandarin pudding - divine!
had about 5 chocolates as well during the day then later that evening i had some home made pate and 1 slice of toast.

home made pate-so simple and beautiful.

chicken and bacon pate
tub of chicken livers (frozen section)
5 rashers bacon
1 onion

defrost the livers, saute the onion in frylight then add the bacon, after 1 minute add the livers.
when all cooked through, blitz in a blender and serve .
bloody gorgeous!

i had such a fantastic day. what a memory to treasure
