Well, yesterday was a bit of a self-made disaster. My friend and I wound up taking her daughter to one of those paint-your-own-pottery places (where, I must add, I was anything but artistic) and since it was far from where we live we had lunch there.
I not only had a cake (a chocolate/meringue/cream concoction) but also lasagna (which was very greasy). I had been going to have cassoulet (which the waitress kept referring to as FRENCH cassoulet with heavy emphasis - I wanted to ask her if there was another kind but kept my mouth shut) but they were all out and everything else was pasties, sandwiches, baked potatoes etc. Apart from the chicken salad on the specials board, which I didn't see until after the food had arrived. Oops. On the plus side, I only ate 2/3 of the lasagna and 1/2 the pudding. Not because I am virtuous but because it was all too rich or sweet. I literally couldn't eat any more of the dessert, it felt like my head was going to explode from the sugar.
In other sad news, I appear to have put on 2lb overnight and it's my weigh-in tomorrow. But we'll see. I bought a new scale because my old one was still showing fluctuating readings even after getting new batteries, and the new one is fairly consistent with itself but seems to think I'm about .5lb heavier than the other one did. So I'll take a bit of a hit with that this week as well (which is ok, as obviously next week it won't be a problem). I had been hoping I might get down to 170lb before my visit to Cyprus in the beginning of October but now I will be happy with 175lb or a bit less.
In better news, dinner last night was yummy. Our garden is finally starting to produce vegetables and so we picked a load of baby summer squash (both courgette/zucchini and golf-ball shaped), runner beans and zebra beans and steamed them all up. Sooo much tastier than what you get in the store, really delicious. We just sprinkle them lightly with lemon juice and a tiny bit of olive oil, plus salt and pepper. Yum, yum, yum.
Yesterday's food, then...
Breakfast: turkey/tomato scrambled eggs
Lunch: (at restaurant) beef lasagna, chocolate meringue cake thing, Innocent for kids (ie small) smoothie
Dinner: Quorn fillets, steamed veggies (no points for spotting the desperate attempt to claw back the day)
