Pregnancy and Baby Advice Thread: From Conception to Birth, and Beyond!

Hi Girls, i have a question - is anyone struggling with car seat belts? I have read that the lap strap bit should go across your thighs but my car wont allow that position it just slides up to rest against my bump, and i am now struggling with the shoulder strap - instructions i've read online tell me it should sit between my boobs - but there is no space between my boobs (i for once have cleavage without fancy bras!) so the strap ends up sliding across my boobs and ends up cutting in to my neck and i feel i am constantly readjusting it. I am not so bothered about the strap across my chest, it's more that the lap strap always sits on my bump and what damage (if any?!) it could do if god forbid i had an accident! Has any one got any tips for how to convince the seat belt to co-operate? :D

I just put the belt under my bump and tuck it in. I think as long as it's not right round the middle of your bump it should be ok. I have the same problem with the chest bit. If it's digging in could you get one of those sponge things that boy racers have to go around the neck part? Sorry I can't be more helpful.

My belt is the same around the bottom of my bump, it won't sit any lower no matter what I do so I just try and tuck it as far under my bump as I can. I'm quite tall so don't have the other problem, but did you look at the top of the belt where it connects to the car, sometimes this bit can be slid up and down for taller/shorter people, if not try the sponge things Sarah is talking about x

I had awful trouble with it before there was any sort of bump to tuck in under.. Now, like the girls its tucked in under the bump.. The rule of gravity means its gona go any lower...
And my belt never stay between my boobs either.. Pain in the ar5e

Thanks ladies, glad i am not the only one - i will try to convince the lap strap to slide in under my bump (not that there is much of a bump there...more like fat when i sit down ) but good to know it might stay under the bump once there is a bit more of a bump!

Re the chest bit - i've tried different heights and nothing seems to stop it from sliding across my chest, might have to have a look for the sponge things and see if that helps. The joys of having bigger boobs!

thanks for your suggestions ladies :)

Another thing I have no clue about... What's this with the seatbelt?? :\ xx

Seatbelt is meant to sit under your bump and between your boobs.. So in the event of an accident or slamming on the breaks, baby's not hurt...

Lol, I just laugh at myself :D I thought when ttc I knew everything there was to know about pregnancy...cause of the sheer amount of time spent on research and google. I was even researching pre-ttc! :D There's things I do know, but so many little things that I'm still learning :) But I know that we all are. xx

Has anyone had...what I am going to call "Pregnancy Paranoia" ?

I honestly think I have at many times throughout the pregnancy lost the plot anyway with worrying about bubba, but has anyone been paranoid about anything else other than baby? For example: Being convinced your extremely loyal husband is having an affair?! LOL

I am actually laughing away at this now because it sounds so stupid...but yes, I'm ashamed to admit a couple of weeks ago I was absolutely convinced the little sod was cheating. No real reason as to why...there were no "signs" or anything like that - it just popped into my head one day and wouldn't leave! I even had to ask him?! How embarrassing! "Er..John...are you sh*gging someone else.." lol he was like..."I barely have time to sh*t, how am I going to have time to have an affair?!" Ah. Good point. Soz. :D

And there's the whole..."OMG what if something horrific happens to hubby?!" - I get that a lot because of his job and because he has a 30-45 minute drive there and back down country lanes...more often than not at night time.I am too convinced I'm gonna get a couple of John's police colleagues knocking on my door in the early hours lol.

Please tell me I'm not alone?! I was never like this before pregnancy....otherwise...cart me off now!! ha ha xx

Lol u nutter...nah im joking haha

I have had my moments for sure - I have had days where I have txt hubby and told him to txt me back so I know hes got to work safely. He also has about a 30/40 minute drive to work down country lanes mostly so I got paranoid the other day thinking "what if hes hit an animal and gone veering off the road". Its stupid isn't it!!

Im sure its another one of those annoying 'normal' pregnancy things...I know that my mind can take me to some weird/wonderful/scary places since ive been pregnant

Yep, completely. I get almost like visions that something awful has happened to husband when he's at work or that something has happened to mum if she doesn't pick up the phone.

This will sound odd but I have two different versions of events in my head - one where everything is perfect and one where everything goes wrong, like I've planned the future out in advance or something. I know it's stupid but I can't stop myself.

My paranoia and anxiety is improved though, I was way worse early on. I do have antenatal depression though so I'm a bit of an extreme case!

It's totally normal to have some anxiety and paranoia though - pregnancy does weird things to your brain! It makes us more protective too so we want it cling on to our families all the more. xxx

Re: Pregnancy and Baby Advice Thread: Brands, Feeding, Nursery, Bathing, Everything!

OK i'm in the minority here as I've not had any of that.. I've had "OMG is baby OK" but that's where my paranoya/anxiousness ends... Thankfully by the sounds of it.. lol

I'm the same definitely had my share of "OMG is baby ok" moments but thankfully nothing else....I guess there is still time lol!

Honestly, it's good if you don't feel overly anxious! A bit of anxious is normal but I know the extremes I was at definitely wasn't normal. Just glad I got seen too before it got worse in the end.

Ladies...what do Braxton Hicks feel like? And when did you first start feeling them?

I've had "tightenings" in the bottom of my uterus - not painful at all - just feels tight, and when I put my hands on my bump its sooooo hard!

I've had it a few times but just assumed it was baby sticking its bum in the air or something, until I read that you can have mild B.H from 16 weeks. X so was just wondering if this could be B.H or just baby moving? Xx

I've not had anything yet, which I know is useless to you because I can't answer your question! But I didn't wanna read and run. I've heard you can have them early on too. I've all on getting a bloody kick today, never mind anything else xx
